There’s no doubt Eden Hazard has been one of the biggest disappointments during the opening four Gameweeks of the campaign. Last season’s PFA Player of the Year was handed an 11.5 price tag in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) this summer, but with just a single assist so far, has seen his value drop to 11.4, with over 592,000 FPL bosses transferring out the Belgian since the start of the season.

After averaging 6.1 points per appearance in 2014/15, that figure is down to 2.5 points per outing in the early days of the new season. With Chelsea’s star man once again in the top five for transfers out this week, tonight’s members article compares his statistics to the previous one as we look to see why the Belgian is struggling to scale the heights of Chelsea’s title-winning campaign.

Is Hazard explosive? Failed to register more than 2 goals in a premiership game last season. I would regard Sanchez and Aguero as explosive. Not Hazard.

He was one of the great players that were part of the 'new firm' era in Scotland that gave us so many great nights in Europe.
Dundee United beating Barcelona home & away was one of the best highlights.

      1. Risky - they havent been tested that much until Swansea, and felt they didnt hold up too strong - but then could watch them filth a few from next 6 games
      2. Sterling looks the one to watch for me, Silva is a wizard, but he can be the assister of the assist sometimes, whereas Sterling seems to be looking more goal hungry

Just my take on the Ruth post.

Sometimes FPL can become a serious business if we let it. Frustration with the game can lead to posters venting their feelings, from time to time, and they end up posting what amounts to a resignation post. It just happens.

I've posted many times that the nice cheery way to play FPL is to "play the game" by way of picking players we like to watch and enjoying the footy with our FPL picks...for good or bad.

The most destructive force in FPL for some is actually concentrating too much on OR....

Anyone posting anything on any site wants to be heard (or has a job that requires they post). Nobody would post otherwise. Folk posting because they 'need' to be heard will do what it takes for them to be heard. I like my picks to well. If they don't, I curse them, and stick the kettle on. Or open a bottle of wine. Sometimes both. Live on the edge.

I think Ruth was right on how FFS bandwagons can affect the game. Where I disagree with him is that it is ruining the game in any way. It's just another factor good managers should take into account and exploit if they can.

RMTs are boring though. They shouldn't be banned but maybe there can be a sort feature that shows threads without any post that has "RMT" or "pick one" or other common team help phrases in it. That way those who are interested in such posts can see them and those that aren't don't have to wade through hundreds of them to find posts of interest.

I think you would find people just using different words to ask.

I think it's easier just to scan them out for ourselves if we don't want to help.

The main problem as I see it are not the RMTs giving "Template" teams but the answers.
When many here see a team with with differential players in it instead of real evaluation of the team they direct the poor sod who asked to take the diffs out and put the stock players in.

Yes..Overall Rank. Many ways to play this game but the most enjoyable can be Mini leagues or H2H's

When playing those it really doesn't matter what Mahrez or Sanchez does if nobody else has them.

As always the best pts for mids will probably come from those mids with most touches in the box over the season...(feel free to count up the goals and assists from last season) http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/4933/

And this season so far...a bit poor as yet but the pts will come...

For a hit? If it was Newcastle of last season maybe but I don't think that's value.

For all the touches he has has I have seen very little danger.

That said, of course you have to expect him to produce over the course of the season. Arsenal only scoring one goal in four matches though (two OGs) I would find it inpossie to part with hard-earned points for one of their attackers

Lets not make this about the original poster but i dont think it's provable that ffs was the main driving force behind Walcott price plummet, Theo is a pretty high profile player anyway and plays for a big and popular club, he scored a hatty in his last prem game and got an assist in the charity shield. he seemed a good pick in the short term at least.

This is why i dont like the term "casual" because it implies ignorance, id like to think a reasonably high % of fpl managers know he is a striker so being classed as a mid is attractive, as soon as he got 1pt in gw1 he was always gonna get transferred out in droves hence the price plummet

      1. Dr Dream
        • 13 Years

He's a strange one. The bigger question is why anybody wouldn't pick him...including Wenger.

I think the problem in Wenger's mind is that Theo isnt very good with his back to goal and as Wenger likes one up front that really hurts Theo

Maybe. I'm not altogether sure that Wenger and he actually get on too well though. He is such an obviously dangerous player that it's becoming a bit odd that he's sidelined so often...
Having said that he signed a new contact

            Still a bit odd though.

He's similar to Arshavin and Poldi in the way they can all look out of the game for ages but so often pop up with vital contributions that it masks their inadequacies. Wenger's been managing long enough that he knows they need replacing and doesn't want to use them week in week out, but knows they can be valuable off the bench when needed in the meantime.

I'm not a seasoned veteran of FPL and this is the first season playing FPl properly but I actually thought it was a bit strange that Walcott was being talked up so much here. I thought it actually showed naivety. Two things put me off Walcott right from the beginning, both down to Wenger:
        a) Wenger historically playing Walcott from the bench
        b) Wenger being clear that he will be rotating Giroud and Walcott

Out of the two, I was tempted to go for Giroud from the beginning because of his being the lone striker of such a rich midfield. I went against it because of Wenger's comments. Why, then, Walcott was being so bigged was surprising to me.

Risk and reward. As a walcott owner i fully expect him to be benched..if all things fail he will be out for a performing mid.

He is still one of the most explosive fpl asset to have and i do not want to go for other options due to other reasons

Does anyone know which article Kolo posted about Man City's likely tactical adaptations for the arrival for KdB? It was in the last couple of days.

I'm not convinced he will play centre, but regardless of which way round he and Silva play, Kolo and I think the wide man will continually be cutting in trying to be a second creator and pushing ball forward to Aguero or switching it wide to Sterling. This'll make the centre too congested for Yaya to maraud through and we'll likely see less attacking intent from him when Silva and KdB are ahead of him on the pitch. It's why I'm anti-Yaya at the moment and shifted him to Champ.

        Continuing from above.

Whilst we on FPL write off Navas as being ineffectual due to his lack of goals the reality is that he is a key part to City's attack. He draws so much defensive cover towards him on that side of the pitch that he opens plenty of room for the goal scorers.
Pell won't have finished with him just because he has signed KDB.

Pell has more options this year...and good ones.

yes i suspect expensive rotating mids for citeh ,esp whilst in europe ,might be graveyard for fpl punters

I agree with you a lot here and it always important to differentiate fpl from football but I truly think we wont see Navas in a PL starting XI much anymore if at all. Dont get me wrong he's a great squad player and should play the cups and easier CL group games, but KdB is still a different class of player.

Navas is an absolute donkey on the pitch. No finishing and his crossing is horrible. Can't wait to see the weak link dropped. Nasri is a better option to begin with.

      One question for you DZers.

Play Jenk (NEW) or Huth (AVL)?

Huth as I doubt Jenks is 1st choice now.

          You should know better.
But if Jenk starts, surely his chances of a CS is higher? Plus WHU play the last game..

but that's what i'm thinking about these days... Wondering what are his limits this season.. Anyway, he really was the best man on the pitch every game he played so far

Likely to continue all year, as long as he stays in the hole.

I'm being skeptical that he'd be that FPL-reliant consistent, though.

Tempted to Albrighton> Mahrez as a fifth midfielder, and rotate with Wilson. But not something I'd usually do.

I wouldn;t do that. Albrighton is a nice 5th mid - missed him as a pick by a whisker.

He hasn't been in the hole. He's been playing out wide on the right.

@OP, he's certainly in form, always looks dangerous when he gets the ball. Pens and set pieces should keep him ticking along, albeit at a lower level, but still very good value IMO

If he's not dropped Mourinho deserves to be sacked.

Ivanovic has been their weak link every game so far this season.
