After assessing the Defenders and Midfielders over the first four Gameweeks, our latest members articles focuses on the forwards. We turn our attentions to Bournemouth, Stoke and Swansea’s in-form frontmen, whilst we also analyse Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool’s strikers after disappointing starts to the season.

Federer likely to win vs the big server.

Has someone just had a post deleted? My price change post was at the top of page 4, but now it is on page 3... 😕
-
It belonged near the other one.
-
couldnt you have added in a phantom post and push me through to the top? 😉
-
Only fallers so not as important for a phantom post 😛
-
That would have made more sense.
-
Not possible tbh.
-
Fair enough.
-
Hmm I need to put in some bump posts around 2:10 tomorrow then to make sure price changes get proper placement 😉
-
Just bad timing. Bumps count as spam.
-
🙁

Credit for Balders for beating me by a split second, but as this page is likely to last for the next two or three hours I don't think it hurt having the changes repeated again at the top of this page.

went to gym & missed this ↓

really enjoyed reading this .lol-
You went to the gym for nine hours?

🙂
shoulders and traps! (I slept)

If you don't need dating advice from YMA and would prefer to spend your evening considering FPL player options, I can offer you some goalkeeper points analysis on my blog. Visit the link in my profile to read more. 🙂
-
You make pretty graphs Diva!
-
Hopefully the information is useful too! 🙂
-
Oh it is, you're blogs been off to an excellent start blog dog
-
Thanks Balders.
-
-
-
-
krul =the new pantilimon
Thanks DIVA-
Early days still, but he's looking like a good buy opportunity.
-
* Krul = The old 2011/12 vintage Krul
-
-
Good read, Diva!
-
Thanks Chelsea Dagger.
-
-
Enjoyed reading both the GK and WBA DF. Thanks for sharing.
-
Thanks Natster. I welcome the feedback.
-
-
Good read, not sure how long he will sustain with his performance. Don't you think Gomes is also a good option? Cheap and with some CS and save points, no?
-
Thanks, I like Gomes too. I almost added a couple of lines about him and Myhill, but the word count was already getting up so I stopped at six.
-
Having Butland as my GK, and I am seriously considering Krul, Gomes & Lindegaard (if he nailed) as Butland replacement someday in the future. I will be more than happy to know your thought on budget keepers if you have any plan to write an article regarding that.
-
I might wait until we have a little more data, but I'll make a mental note. I could benefit from looking at budget keepers myself as doing this article made me disappointed at the returns from my keeper selections so far (Ruddy, Butland and McCarthy).
-
-
-
-
Great blog! Can I make a recommendation?
I think for graphs and charts there should be an ascending or descending order rather than alphabetical.
for example goalkeepers graph should be from highest scoring to lowest rather than name.-
Thanks Scab, recommendations are most welcome.
I ordered that chart by saves, but if you click on it you'll be taken to an interactive chart that should allow you to rearrange by the various metrics to your heart's content. 🙂
-
-
-
Last of the euro qualifiers tnite. Camt believe il actually be able to get pedro in at 9.5 with aost every international over 🙂
-
Not sure if to do that or save. If I do Haz to Pedro I would want to make another transfer for -4.
-
-
I feel very uncomfortable about the two early transfers I made straight after GW 4 and beers were involved.
I shipped Sanchez and bought in Pedro then upgraded my benchfodder Westwood to Sako.
The problem is now I have a front eight consisting off:
Silva Pedro Payet Mahrez Sako
Aguero Gomis Diouf
This gives me a selection headache moving forward and now I am regretting wasting my two free transfers. Sanchez could explode with his stats and frankly Payet / Mahrez / Sako seems like a bubble about to burst!
Any thoughts on what I've done? Open to both positive and negative feedback. I feel like a right muppet 🙁-
Would've stuck with Sanchez tbh. Who you planning to bench this week? Sako or Diouf?
-
I know after I did the move i actually felt empty to be honest. No doubt he will go nuts now.
This week is tough Sako vs City with 4/4 cleansheets at home. or Diouf away to Arsenal.
Might have to toss a coin. Sako has been impressive and Palace at home might be some small advantage.
-
-
shipped sanchez?
I'am thinking Haz→san(c)hez this week 🙁
what about AOA ?-
I'd love to save this chip especially when:
Diouf v Arsenal away
Sako Man City home
Pedro Everton away
Silva/Kun at Palace
Only positives are Swansea at Watford and Leicester at home to Villa.-
I'd bench Diouf, save the chip. Reassess next week, it will probably be clearer
-
Yup Diouf will sit on my bench this week. Thanks.
-
-
fair point ... Bench Diouf imho then
-
Thanks will do 🙂
-
Diouf might not start even. Reports that he has a groin strain.
-
-
-
-
Pedro is not a bad option but never over Sanchez. Sanchez isn't scoring but unlike Hazard, his stats are extraordinarily good.
Not wrong getting Sako. Good stats. Better than cash wasting ITB.-
This. My rookie error was I noticed the stats after I made the transfer which burnt me even more. I sort of made the transfer in frustration whilst on the beers which is never a good thing I guess.
I could always drop Payet after this week to Westwood and then use that later if Sako / Mahrez continue their form.
-
-
As you have already done it, so nothing to be worried about the transfers.
Pedro & Sako might turn to be the picks of the week, who know.
Diouf on the bench for this week, right?-
As above. Thinking of benching Diouf yes. Sako could come out on top... Id hope lol.
-
-
I like the Sako selection in isolation but your right it gives you a selection headache. The first transfer seems unecessary.
-
Nothing wrong with shipping Sanchez, Arsenal and him are both out of form and they are struggling at home
-
This was my initial thought of making the transfer, but seeing Sanchez's stats after I shipped him, it feels like he is at the "explosion imminent" status. If he blanks I'll be chuffed, but Stoke aren't all that strong at the back with 0/5 cleansheets!
-
All ifs and buts. Stats only tell 1 side of the story, watching Arsenal is a painful experience and frustrating experience at the moment
-
I listened to the commentary on the New/Ars game and it was an absolute bore-fest. Probably another reason why I was quick to drop him to be honest.
-
-
-
-
Contrary to popular opinion here, Arsenal dont seem to banging it in.
Sanchez may be good, but as a team they haven't still started to turn it on.
Moves look good.-
Thanks, can only hope they continue to not bang them in. I've already been punished by dropping Wilson on WC right before his 3 goal show.... still burns me now.
-
-
-
Am I the only one not concerned about Hazard's stats or form? Can't see him taking much longer to come good. Maybe that will be my downfall.
-
Pedro is at the end of things too
Hazard needs to roast it for you to consider him, pls wait till he gives indications.
-
-
Currently on Myhill/McCarthy...
Can I hold on for a week or I need to pull the trigger just now.
If so, who would should it be.
Dont like rotating goalies, one man to play to play all the games.
Inside 5.0 would be great.-
hold imo ...
https://fpldiva.wordpress.com
this may help too -
Wait to see if McCarthy retains the job - I think he will. If he does, swap out Myhill for Krul (my preference) or Schmeichel (who others prefer).
-
-
Wow.. Federer
-
Anything worth a hit here?
Ruddy Rudd
Kolarov Cédric Morgan Coates Gomez
Mahrez Silva Sánchez Ritchie Westwood
Agüero Benteke Wilson
0 FT, £2.9m in the bank.
Ritchie to Ayew is an option, anything else?-
I would keep Ritchie. Swansea's fixtures are getting tougher. Nothing needs a hit 😀
-
Nothing worth a hit. Ritchie has a decent fixture. Benteke is s concern but can understand holing him for their next 2 home games
-
not for me ... may be next week
captain ?-
One of SAM.
-
-
Cheers all
-
Nothing for a hit. I might have said Coates to a WBA option but now he's fallen again I'd leave it for this week.
-
You have Aguero and Sanchez so no don't hit. Next week, Ritchie -> 8-8.5 midfielder though
-
Great fixture next week though.
-
True, but double Bou attack?
-
-
-
Nothing worth a hit assuming benteke is g2g this weekend
-
I am surprised that you have Benteke instead of Gomis to be honest. Fixture over Form?
Ayew looks like a good shout although if your not thinking about get Gomis, I would want a Swansea cover.-
Sold Ayew last week 🙁
Had Benteke from the beginning.-
You sold him!! 🙁
However, I would understand your logic though.
How's Benteke worked out for you??-
Sold him for Silva. Wish I upgraded Ritchie instead.
Outside the goal, he's been useless.-
With the favorable fixtures coming up for Bournemouth, Ritchie should get on the scoresheet. I would be surprised if he didn't. He could pull an Ayew on you... if you not what I mean!
In all honestly, I would look into Benteke. He has favorable fixtures ahead of United, but I'm not convinced about his form and goal scoring at the moment.
He's scored as many goals as Sakho. Personally I prefer him, over Benteke.-
know*
-
-
-
-
-
-
Looks good apart from Coates, but don't think worth a hit for a cheapie defender.
-
I agree.
-
-
Ritchie to Ayew the only one i would consider for a hit. Otherwise looks good mate
-
-
anyone with yaya rather than silva? currently have both but want to move forward with only one. Everyone seems to prefer silva but yaya outpacing him and cheaper...
-
I have Yaya and I'm happy with having him over Silva at present.
-
The thinking is Yaya's gonna go backwards with KdB around:
http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2015/09/05/moving-target-aaron-lennon-2/?hc_page=7#hc_comment_11171313-
interesting point. Hard to be sure about KDB impact, on silva too. maybe like red wasabi says below, keep yaya for short term and monitor the impact of KDB's arrival.
-
keep both for now then switch up after a couple of games to assess KdB's impact
-
-
-
If your going to pick a player to keep for the entire season - Silva.
However if your thinking short term... and considering form, price and fixture- Yaya-
Tbf both silva and yaya are on form..its only a matter of price
-
So by this logic, if you are on a WC with funds then go with Silva?
I'm still undecided.
-
-
-
Anyone else feeling a little foolish after rushing pedro in before Sunday night price changes?
-
Regardless of price its not very advisable to rush a player in before all the international matches start.
-
Yeah yeah I know but I did it anyway
-
-
8 days ago not yesterday though yesterday would also have been foolish
-
An injury is the only thing that makes it foolish.
-
What he said ^
-
-
Not if you got him with your W.C. few weeks ago.
-
Well I signed him the week prior, and I was hoping for more (any) price rises, but that's not the reason I bought him, so I don't feel foolish. I felt (and still do) that he represents better value than Hazard, at least in the short term.
-
On the subject of rushing a player in... I did draft Ayew in at the very start of this week, after first holding to take the profit on Yaya, then the next day catching the price rise of Ayew.
While it is a risk drafting a player in before the Internationals, and it has kept me nervous all week, I think the gambles gonna pay off
-
-
Any ideas for community competitions I could run with unlimited numbers to enter?
-
Knockout tournament but each round over two legs.
-
Or you could give the knockout tournament an american play-offs flavour, first X rounds a best of 3, next Y rounds a best of 5, Final round best of 7?
-
Like the 1st one more. Hardly any rounds in the 2nd.
-
34 weeks left
1 week advertising up to gw5 plus advertising through qualifying weeks.
Qualifying: combined score gws 6-8
last 256 - last 8: best of 3 (gws 9-26)
SF: best of 5 (gws 27-31)
Final: best of 7 (gws 32-38)-
Interesting, cheers.
-
As another little feature you could generate a seeded bracket from the qualifying scores.
My football league at uni uses this to make the brackets for the cup based on league positions: http://challonge.com/tournament/bracket_generator-
Cool link. Not sure I have the time to put in to run something that big.
-
Are you set on running another tournament of some kind?
If you've not got the time, I think I'd quite like the challenge of running something like this, it'll let the cream rise nicely but its not another classic league, something LMS does nicely too.-
Nah, just looking at options.
Likely to be a lot busier in the near future so the season long thing is tricky. LMS getting easier as the season moves along and numbers decrease. It's still H2H so luck is a big factor even if over 3 GWs etc. Perhaps it's something you can run & I could help you with?-
That'd be great if you could give guidance for it. It'd help a lot having a mod backing it for advertising.
Can I email you a draft community submission article for it in an hour or so for you to proof read?-
Sure, I'll get a reply back to you in 12 hours time.

I just submitted directly, I'll let you know if I need pointers on the backend work.

Pimping up my computer, anyone have any good software, apps or widgets they use on their Windows machines?

Purpose?

Just after general stuff that people use.

Portable software for free? It won't write anything to your windows registry to ruin your system.
http://www.portablefreeware.com/all.php-
I normally use http://portableapps.com/apps but I'll have a look.
Cheers.

Not really sure what you are looking for.
Photoshop CS2 is free to use now if you want to edit a photo.
VMware player for old or alternate OSes installation.
Dosbox for old dos application such as some good old games.-
FastStone Free Capture - Screen capture
Camstudio - Screen motion capture (avoid v2 and above, contains malware)
Kingsoft Officesuite 2015 if you want the MS Office alternative
or
Google for "Last Freeware Version" if you want some good old freeware that has turned to shareware.-
Cheers for the suggestions.

C&C, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun now released as freeware if you missed these old games.

Excel & RStudio 😎

Payet to Sanchez for a hit? Have already taken one hit but would captain Sanchez

A hit for a captain is normally a decent idea.

Looks like 2 decent matches in the US Open going on.

Isner & Federer game is amazing !

Quiz question - no googling (as it would be extraordinarily easy to find this out).
Who were the first players from the following clubs to win the PFA player of the year. Small clue, the award was first given in 1974 so not all are contemporary names. Two are still active in the Premier League this season.
Liverpool
Man Utd
Arsenal
Tottenham
Chelsea-
Dalglish
Cantona
Henry
???
Hazard-
Bale in the spurs slot?
-
0/5
-
-
-
Dalglish
Ronaldo
Thierry Henry
Teddy
zola/Hazard ?-
0/5
-
lol
-
-
-
Dalgleish
Whiteside
Brady
Kane
Hazard-
1/5
-
-
😯 Very sly hint MarknLard!
-
Souness
Robson
Bergkamp
Kane
Cech-
still 0/5
-
Ffs!! The clue or hint is throwing all off. It's either Young PFA or perhaps still active means could also be managers
Two said Hazard one said Kane. The one with Kane had 1 right. I said Kane had none right
Confusing this-
its definitely not YPFA

Trying to test the waters a bit here, team value check? I'll start, 99.2 here 😎 if you're intimidated by my triumphant skills, fear not my friends, for I too was in the pits of despair in the not so distant past.
#ItGetsBetter-
before or after cash itb Zasa?

After mate, after 🙁
In other news, how's the bladder, Balders?-
holy mother of Jesus that's bad to hear 🙁
She's holding up well unlike your fantrax team 😉-
Hey man, Jesus had it pretty bad.
...but this is worse 😉
Always good news, and woah there, holster the gun man. I too will soon rise from the tomb & be born again. Watch your back Bladder, Jesus is a comin!-
😀 good luck man
-
You too bud, in all seriousness though. Looks like your primed to win the season mate, bloody good team you have innit?
-
ha thanks but honestly I think Billy G is gonna walk it if Mirallas and Studger get meaningful gametime at stretches. Or VK who's already top with Aguero yet to fire up.
You know what they say though, top 4 is like a trophy, so I'll be happy with that 😉-
I'm glad you're confident. Those two are like the kings of unfulfilled fantasy potential. I need Sturridge back pronto as my forwards are just a mess.
-
do you have an alarm system calling you whenever your names mentioned? 😛
Even end of October still gives him 2/3rds of the season to run riot.
I can't believe the day after you nabbed Ighalo and I picked up Welbeck instead it got announced Welbz is out for 6 months 🙁-
My ears were burning 😉
Yeah...until he gets injured after 2 weeks and we're back to square one.
That's good news. Now you can get someone who might actually be decent... -
😆 my lips are schtum on my targets for the next waiver round
-
-
-
Oh shite, those two are definitely game changers when fit. And yeah, VK a good shout too.
Hell yeah, top 4 out of 15 swell managers is no mean feet. Hope by January things swerve for the better though 😉-
you could do well at the bottom of the waiver wire in the January transfer window 😉

TV 102.4
SV 100.9
But I bet you have a wildcard still. 🙂-
Nice one man, looks to be around the average. Fitting of a lad who calls himself the price change overseer 😉
& yes 🙂 but not on purpose 😆-
I don't just watch the price changes for fun. 😉
Not sure I call myself the price change overseer. Maybe a night watchman (until AR returns). 🙂-
Touché mate. 🙂
Aye, they say AR has one of the meanest guns in the west, tough lad that guy.-
I don't know if he was the meanest, but he was the fastest. 🙂
-
😯 😯 the most rapid?
-
-
-
-
-
-
Still 100.7
-
Ah nice one Billy, we're pretty close then I take it

We're both doing well. I'm at 98k. Points > TV ay?

That's bloody good man, might be the highest rank I've seen on here 😯-
That says it all for this season so far 😆

If you were on a WC, would you keep hold of McCarthy & Targett with the pending return of both Speroni & Bertrand respectively?
Any chance either of the former would retain their place?-
no
-
definitely not
-
McCarthy might keep his place, but I'm not thrilled with him so far. I just happen to have written a blog post about keepers today is you're looking for a replacement. See link in my profile.
I expect Targett will lose his place when Bertrand returns so I'd ship now.-
u reckon bertrand is back for gw5?
-
Sorry, not sure, I haven't checked recently.
-
-
-
Stick on Macca and ship Targett, or keep Targett and let him rot on your bench. *shrugs*
-
-
Any update on Zabaleta's Injury? Cant find any news on it

who gives the bookies clean sheet odds for the weekend?

again!
Hazard →sanchez(c) or save ft ??-
do it
-
thanks Rukawa
-
-
Do it if for free, but then don't captain Sanchez. Not on form at a but be nice to have if he has a sudden haul. I have sold both since week 1
-
if not sanchez(c) would be Mahrez or Kun then...
-
Both far better options right now mate
Don't hunt me down if Sanchez bags a hatty mind-
Sorry but Mahrez is not a better captain option than Sanchez regardless of his recent little hot streak.
Similarly don't hunt me down if Mahrez gets a hatty.-
Arsenal have scored once at home in 6 matches
Mahrez is the games top scorer and playing Norwich
Yes he is-
Villa
-
Kolarov isn't playing Villa 😉
-
-
Arsenal and Sanchez have done absolutely everything but put the ball in the back of the net so far, there's a tsunami of points incoming in the near future. As for Mahrez I'd never captain a player from a team likely to finish in the bottom half of the table.
-
-
-
-
-
-
do it
-
Thanks Balders
-
-
If you have nothing pressing it might work out.
-
Thanks Diva

-
-
Any Newcastle fans around? Need some thought on their defenses this year, do they improve from last season?
-
I'm not a Newcastle fan, but I'm liking Tim Krul as a keeper option (see discussion further up the page). 🙂
-
Not familiar. Apart from spending over 50m, actually having a coach and something to play for (which they did not by December last year) will be a big difference.
-
-
Gtg with the AOA lads/lasses?
Mignolet
Kompany. Cresswell
Mahrez. Silva. Ayew. Pedro. Redmond
Gomis. Aguero(c). Wilson
McCarthy. Soares. Gomez. Richards-
yup
-
Aye.
-
yes
-
Cheers all
-
-
-
Any thoughts on this:
Ruddy l Rudd
Kolarov l Jenko l Williams l Francis l Huth
Hazard l Silva l Ayew l Chadli l Fletcher
Diouf l Aguero l Wilson
1FT 1.8itb
Should I keep the FT?-
Chadli→Mahrez
or
Haz→Sanchez ?-
or Fletcher→Mahrez (Bench Diouf in this case)?
-
Not a fan of benching a striker
-
but .. but Mahrez 😀
-
-
-
-
Who r u making captain?
-
-
Last seasons stats per 90, any way I slice it Glen Murray needed to play more!
-
I owned him the one game he was relevant for 😎
-
which one? he got treble points 3 weeks on the bounce
-
*double figure. I have no idea where treble came from but the number 3 swiftly following it.
-
Might have been more than 1 week. Whenever Austin had a blank or someone got injured and half of FFS went Murray and half went someone else.
-
Ah i get ya, week 30 blank before the dgw vs Villa?
-
-
-
-
-
-
So if I have a TV of 100.3 and 2.0 ITB. Does that make my TV 102.3 or am I wrong?
-
Technically it's TV 100.3 and 2.0 ITB, but there's no problem merging the two and calling that your team value - everyone will know what you mean.
-
Yes
-
Cheers lads
-
-
-
If MarknLard doesn't come back soon I may have to google the answers, its biting away at me not knowing.
-
do it Balders
-
I'll give scores out of 5 up on the submissions back up top
-
How many did you get right?
-
none 😆
-
Zero
-
-
-
-
Cantona
Zola
Klinsmann
Dalglish
Adams-
0/5
-
Didn't read properly. None of these are active still!
But. They would still do a better job than most that are !
-
-
-
Is it crazy to captain Wilson against NOR (A)?
I don't find any other stand out captain option in my team.
Thanks-
no aguero, sanchez, marhez? All better options imo
-
I have aguero and mahrez.
Who would you pick?-
Kun
-
-
-
WC !
-
