Gameweek 8 saw two more players topple off the Suspension Tightrope as we head into the second international break of the season. Sunderland centre-back Sebastian Coates was the first guilty party after earning his fifth yellow of 2015/16 in the second half of yesterday’s home draw against West Ham.

Coates will now miss the Black Cats’ trip to West Brom next time out as the Wearsiders prepare for life without Dick Advocaat after the Dutchman resigned earlier today.

This afternoon, Coates was joined by Tottenham’s Eric Dier, who has now been booked in five of the first eight league matches in his new central midfield role. The 10%-owned defender, who had been drafted in by over 25,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers prior to today’s caution, will now miss the Gameweek 9 home encounter with Liverpool.

Despite losing those two to suspension, the Tightrope now boasts ten faces – three more than last weekend.

Ciaran Clark, Jeffrey Schlupp, Jack Colback, Billy Jones and Dele Alli all remain on four yellows and are joined by five new entries this time round. City pair Eliaquim Mangala and Fernandinho incurred the referee’s wrath in yesterday’s 6-1 romp over Newcastle at the Etihad, whilst West Ham’s Mark Noble is another fresh recruit after collecting a yellow card in the 2-2 stalemate at Sunderland.

Oriol Romeu is also added to the mix. The midfielder picked up his fourth caution in as many league starts for Southampton against former club Chelsea yesterday – he’s managed that feat in just 371 minutes of top-flight action. Earlier today, United full-back Matteo Darmian found his way into the referee’s notebook in the 3-0 loss to Arsenal.

The weekend brought further woe for the Black Cats, with Jeremain Lens set to miss the Gameweek 9 trip to the Hawthorns. The Dutchman – whose goal in yesterday’s draw means he played a part in five of the Wearsiders’ eight goals under Advocaat – was dismissed after receiving cautions for fouls on Carl Jenkinson and Winston Reid either side of the half-time break against the Hammers.

In terms of newly available players, Chelsea’s Diego Costa, Watford’s Valon Behrami and Everton wide man Kevin Mirallas are all in the frame in Gameweek 9 after they served the last of three-match bans for violent conduct this weekend.

    Martial > Pelle?

    OR

    Ayew > Mane/Payet?

    1. BlzE_94
      11 years, 19 days ago

2nd move, Payet is better long-term but Mane is still a very good option.

I think payet is the man to get very consistent basically if west ham score he is in the points somewhere.

      He's got more priority.

After everton and city, united's fixtures are winnable games. Martial will have the opportunity to score more.

Thoughts on these options to buy SOT attacks please.

A: Berahino + Mata ->> Pelle + Tadic (or Barkley or Cabaye)
    B: Mata ->> Mane
    C: Berahino + Mahrez ->> Pelle + Wanyama

    Team Now
    KDB - Sanchez - Payet - Mahrez - Mata
    Kun - Vardy - Berahino

    1. Thomas Magnum
      11 years, 19 days ago

      reason behind possibly selling mahrez?

      1. NATSTER
        11 years, 19 days ago

Mainly because I have Vardy as double Leicester in attacks.

Vardy seems more likely to start and involves in the scoring events while Mahrez could be tactically rotated.

Mata and Berahino -> Mane and Ighalo?

      1. NATSTER
        11 years, 19 days ago

It's doable. It's just that I feel Ighalo was lucky to get some goals from opponents' errors rather than Watford's play. His luck might run out soon.

I guess you mean Mata and Mahrez which I chose as enabler.

I'm not confident in selling Mahrez, but I feel SOT attacks could outscore Mata in the next few Gws.

Yes, it will. Do you feel it's the right time to part company with Mahrez ?

5 games with double-digit score and top score MF in the game.

I'm doubt with the sale, but I saw some already sold.

        1. Pochecinno

I'm not doing it now but I will cash in eventually. The thing is you're aiming for the perfect attack there, so sacrifices have to be made.

    A. Azpi / Cresswell / Fletcher (4.4) / Martial > Browning / Souaré / Sanchez / Ighalo (-12)
    B. Martial & Mahrez > Ighalo & Sanchez (-4)

    Current team:
    Myhill (McCarthy)
    Azpi / Kolarov / Cresswell / Francis / Nyom
    KDB / Mahrez / Payet / Mané / Fletcher
    Aguero / Martial / Vardy

This one is a head scratcher. Want to beat the rises tonight.

Azpi, Haz, Ozil > KDB, Sanchez, Cook worth it for -8? Could also just make it a wildcard since I have deadwood in Bentaleb and Coates

With Sanchez also being labelled essential, do you want to use two mid spots for Arsenal players?

Not necessarily a bad strategy of course it's just there's so much other choice.

Could use some advice ... Haven't taken a hit yet but considering it tonigh...

    A) keep Gomis
    B) Gomis > Ighalo
    C) Gomis > Pelle or Lukaku & Clyne > Souare -4

    Current team
    Butland / Schmeichel
    Kolarov / Clyne / Dawson / Prodl / Richards
    Sanchez / KDB / Payet / Mahrez / Redmond
    Aguero / Gomis / Vardy

    Cheers!

    a. YYT > Mane for free
    b. Ighalo + Barkley > Pelle + Drinkwater (-4)

b will save benching headaches too

    --
    Myhill, Cech
    Kolarov, Dawson, Nyom, Bellerin, Francis
    Sanchez, Barkley, Mahrez, Payet, YYT
    Vardy (vc), Ighalo, Aguero (c)
