With injuries mounting up, our community writers were on hand to serve up a raft of options to replace ailing attackers, maligned midfielders and indisposed defenders. Our hot topic posters ponder just how to spend the riches made available through a certain Argentine striker’s dodgy hamstrings, while we also catch up on the latest Member tables as well as news from our community leagues.

The Community Articles

With Sergio Aguero out for a number of Gameweeks through injury the community was in the market for a new striker. Rodellegabomb was on hand with this stat heavy, Members only, article on potential replacements for the Manchester City striker as well as a follow up looking at some more leftfield options.  Later in the week he also took a look at some of the best statistics for three of the week’s key bandwagons.

The Sarjeant also offers up a prime candidate to come into our frontlines in his latest look at team form, while Your Mum’s Athletic’s Gameweek 9 What the Bookies Say article predicts goals galore on the south coast this weekend to offer further replacement options.

With many defenders struggling with injury or battling the spectre of rotation, Innsie’s assessment of baseline bonus points amongst goalkeepers, full backs and centrebacks proved a timely article for those looking to revamp their backlines.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

There were plenty more options for those looking to replace Aguero in our look at the fall out from his injury, while Balders has taken a look to see how Manchester City fare in front of goal with and without their key striker.

Meanwhile, having sold the premium priced Aguero, the community are feeling rather flushed. Here’s how some are looking to flash their newly found cash.

As with our community articles, our community discussions also looked at defender options, as the injury flags continue to flutter alarmingly at the back. Our look at which centre backs and full backs are riding high in the Fantasy points, bonus, fixtures, assists and goal charts offers up some more options to consider drafting in.

Amongst midfielders, Riyad Mahrez appears to be on borrowed time, after being left out of Leicester’s side against Norwich in Gameweek 8 for tactical reasons. Abel Xavier is one of a number of community members considering letting Mahrez go. Diva has also been looking closely at Leicester players and asked whether Mahrez owners who also own Jamie Vardy, as well as two Southampton attackers are worried about over exposure when the two sides meet this weekend.

The injuries were also mounting up over at Anfield, where new boss Jurgen Klopp’s has promised a more intense brand of football. Danny Ings is now sidelined for the rest of the season after sustaining knee ligament damage in training, while Joe Gomez is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being injured while on international duty. For those wanting to know more about Klopp’s brand of football Jaffalicious was on hands with some of his most eye catching career statistics.

Elsewhere, Gargamel popped by with news of an update to his Gargatron tool, which gives Fantasy managers a revealing look at how their season has progressed so far.

Finally, it was Christina’s turn to hand out the cake as he celebrated his birthday this week.

The Members Tables

Danandandaman has taken a stab at predicting arguably the most unpredictable element of Fantasy Football, a goal from a defender. Greenwindmill’s latest table takes a look at tough defences who are forcing opposing teams to take long range pot shots, as well as soft touches who are inviting teams into their penalty box with alarming regularity.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

The qualification results and first round draw of Balders’ American style Community Grand Play Offs competition are now live. Balders also brought us news of plans to set up a new community tournament organisation.

The results from Gamweek 1 of Jarvish’s Blank Week Challenge, for those wanting to carry on scratching their Fantasy Football itch during the international break, have also been published. Moorinho is setting the pace so far, with Kingozil and Onside9 also doing well.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

    Took a -12

    Gomis -> Ighalo
    Pedro -> de Bruyne
    Kolarov -> Dawson
    Aguero -> Costa

    Leaves me with:

    ------------------- Schmeichel
    ---------Martin - Dawson - Souaré
    Sanchez - Mahrez - KDB (v) - Payet
    -------- Ighalo - Costa (c) - Martial

    Schwarzer - Surman - Richards - Muniesa

    Not ideal but good to go?

    Was just checking out Paddy Power odds on players to score 2 or more goals (which is what we want from a captain) and going by their odds we should be giving the armband to Costa, although the bonus of an extra point per goal for De Bruyne might push it in his favor given its just a slight difference in odds.

    Costa 16/5
    De Bruyne 7/2
    Bony 7/2

    Selected others:
    Hazard 17/2
    Pedro 11/2
    Pelle 13/2
    Vardy 22/1
    Sanchez 5/1
    Walcott 5/1
    Kane 7/1
    Sturridge 12/1

      The issue is that odds are based a lot on betting patterns. Not the actual likelihood.

      I don't typically look at them As they only confirm the average thought.

      Yes but unfortunately the board is very similar here.

      Also it does come into some consideration as it's easier to justify 🙂

    2. WoodsyOwl

      Is it the case that "I'm taking hits because everyone else is" or is it simply a lot of the FF Scout community have similar sides and this international break has delivered an absolute boat load of injuries.

      For what it's worth you're right, focus on your own team, not the stage of the season to worry about the actions of others imo.

        If everyone's making the same transfers that argument might have some weight, simply taking hits because everyone else is wouldn't generate any dollar.

    Bottomed.

    If I already have Sanchez, Mata, Yaya, and Mahrez, is it too much to do Silva to De Bruyne? Would either go 3-5-2 or AOA.

    Other option is Kolarov to Bellerin and play 3-4-3.

    Didnt get replies on this one...I have only two defenders playing tomorrow, worth using the All Out Attack chip if my 5th mid is Wanyama? I don't usually get a goal scorer 5th mid, so I might as well use it now right?

    Repost. Can somone confirm my logic.
    I'm currently -4.
    If i bench Kolarov and Francis.
    Start muniesa williams Richards with probably only williams likely to get a cleanie but mid case scenario is 2-2-2 which is 6 points -4 = 2.
    If transfer Kolarov to Kompany for -8 who has goal threat a price rise and better cleanie chance so say he gets 6 and muniesa and williams get 2 each that's 10 -8 = 2 with potential to be higher points of williams keeps a cleanie or Kompany scores.

    So more pro than con on this move correct?

    Seen quite a few people planning on wildcarding in GW11, why is that a good time to WC?

      Fixtures change for a few sides, some better, some worse.

      Fixtures turn good for a few teams like Arsenal Southampton and Everton

      Fixture swings. Notably for Everton & Utd; or is that GW13? I'm not sure the fortunes of either of these clubs are particularly fixture driven, though.

      On KDB atm. I'll most likely change that about 100 times before the deadline. I will keep you posted if you like 🙂

    Any reason not to do Sako, Kun, and Kola> Sanchez, Pelle and Dawson? A -8 may be needed to field 11. Other option is to do Bera>Lukaku, rather then bringing in Alexis.

    Anyone keeping Kolarov? Only out two weeks. Only issues is losing value on him. Could be a season keeper though so losing value on him might not be so bad.
