With injuries mounting up, our community writers were on hand to serve up a raft of options to replace ailing attackers, maligned midfielders and indisposed defenders. Our hot topic posters ponder just how to spend the riches made available through a certain Argentine striker’s dodgy hamstrings, while we also catch up on the latest Member tables as well as news from our community leagues.

The Community Articles

With Sergio Aguero out for a number of Gameweeks through injury the community was in the market for a new striker. Rodellegabomb was on hand with this stat heavy, Members only, article on potential replacements for the Manchester City striker as well as a follow up looking at some more leftfield options.  Later in the week he also took a look at some of the best statistics for three of the week’s key bandwagons.

The Sarjeant also offers up a prime candidate to come into our frontlines in his latest look at team form, while Your Mum’s Athletic’s Gameweek 9 What the Bookies Say article predicts goals galore on the south coast this weekend to offer further replacement options.

With many defenders struggling with injury or battling the spectre of rotation, Innsie’s assessment of baseline bonus points amongst goalkeepers, full backs and centrebacks proved a timely article for those looking to revamp their backlines.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

There were plenty more options for those looking to replace Aguero in our look at the fall out from his injury, while Balders has taken a look to see how Manchester City fare in front of goal with and without their key striker.

Meanwhile, having sold the premium priced Aguero, the community are feeling rather flushed. Here’s how some are looking to flash their newly found cash.

As with our community articles, our community discussions also looked at defender options, as the injury flags continue to flutter alarmingly at the back. Our look at which centre backs and full backs are riding high in the Fantasy points, bonus, fixtures, assists and goal charts offers up some more options to consider drafting in.

Amongst midfielders, Riyad Mahrez appears to be on borrowed time, after being left out of Leicester’s side against Norwich in Gameweek 8 for tactical reasons. Abel Xavier is one of a number of community members considering letting Mahrez go. Diva has also been looking closely at Leicester players and asked whether Mahrez owners who also own Jamie Vardy, as well as two Southampton attackers are worried about over exposure when the two sides meet this weekend.

The injuries were also mounting up over at Anfield, where new boss Jurgen Klopp’s has promised a more intense brand of football. Danny Ings is now sidelined for the rest of the season after sustaining knee ligament damage in training, while Joe Gomez is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being injured while on international duty. For those wanting to know more about Klopp’s brand of football Jaffalicious was on hands with some of his most eye catching career statistics.

Elsewhere, Gargamel popped by with news of an update to his Gargatron tool, which gives Fantasy managers a revealing look at how their season has progressed so far.

Finally, it was Christina’s turn to hand out the cake as he celebrated his birthday this week.

The Members Tables

Danandandaman has taken a stab at predicting arguably the most unpredictable element of Fantasy Football, a goal from a defender. Greenwindmill’s latest table takes a look at tough defences who are forcing opposing teams to take long range pot shots, as well as soft touches who are inviting teams into their penalty box with alarming regularity.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

The qualification results and first round draw of BaldersAmerican style Community Grand Play Offs competition are now live. Balders also brought us news of plans to set up a new community tournament organisation.

The results from Gamweek 1 of Jarvish’s Blank Week Challenge, for those wanting to carry on scratching their Fantasy Football itch during the international break, have also been published. Moorinho is setting the pace so far, with Kingozil and Onside9 also doing well.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Alright, this time 2 weeks ago I was convinced by everyone on this site to (C) Aguero against my own judgement, and that paid off quite well. Looks like I'll go with buying Ighalo and not Mitrovic, I trust in you Scouts. Good night all

Nowhere near as much! I'd probably have a passing interest in it, like I would have taken note that Aguero scored 5 last week, and Spurs have been doing pretty well the last few weeks, but I don't think I'd watch games (or be as interested in them) anywhere near as much!

I was always interested in Pl before FPL. But FPL made me more acutely interested. In some ways it has ruined PL--I don't care as much about outcomes as I do about individual players' perfomances, but I pay a lot more attention than I did before. If FPL didn't exist, I would still be watching/following every weekend.

For football, get a good base fitness from long distance running. Then move onto sprinting and agility exercises. Speed ladders and poles, fast feet, quick lateral movement, explosiveness all set you apart the standard player

Went for Bert myself today but I think might regret it. I was torn between him and VD. Both top picks though I reckon.

Great stats for attempts in his and aerial duels won. He'll get goals.

Scored 10 and assisted 7 for Celtic last year.

Who should I swap Diafra Sakho for ??? I will have £7.5 Million, once I take him out of my team and this last transfer will give me a -8 hit this week. So should I swap him yes or no and who for if yes ?????

Mental to roll with a defense of Evans, Janmaat, Souare this week in lieu of a hit?

    1. 123thro
      • 12 Years
      10 years, 9 months ago

I think Evans may start and get , and I don't think Sourae will keep a clean sheet but may get attacking points, Janmaat a good option. So not too bad an option in terms of hits, especially considering Evans will be nailed on to start when fully fit.

Yeah feels like a real luxury pick in my team due to price, but as you say the security swings it

Hmmm keep seeing Janmaat mentioned I'm not sold tbh, though I've not got access to the stats so prob wrong!

6.2 or 6.3 a lot for a guy with no bonus potential. Hold off on Man City for a few weeks and see how things play out. Get one of them for the Norwich game at home.

Sorry missed your reply, I'm on a WC can afford to monitor him for tomorrows game and poss downgrade, didn't really think of the bonus points hmmmm, I'm open to swapping him for Souare and bank the cash for the Everton lads in 2 weeks though!

This might put some minds at ease as to those taking hits this week. My main ML in order and total point hits taken:

    1. -8
    2. -4
    3. -8
    4. -4
    5. 0 (1 FT yet to make any transfers)
    6. -20
    7. -4
    8. -8
    9. 0
    10. 0
    11. 0
    12. 0 (2FT yet to make any transfers)

Playing this cash league for a few years now and the competitive players, say 8th upwards (I'm 8th), usually finish inside the top 10k with a few top 1k finishes dotted around.

Conclusion: hits are good this week

Meltdown at the wire! Was already -4 and added -8 more. Cech for Schmeichel and Lukaku for Aguero. Figured I would need to take a hit at some point for both to get them out. Why not now and try to reap the rewards (hides behind couch). C'mon new guys!
