With injuries mounting up, our community writers were on hand to serve up a raft of options to replace ailing attackers, maligned midfielders and indisposed defenders. Our hot topic posters ponder just how to spend the riches made available through a certain Argentine striker’s dodgy hamstrings, while we also catch up on the latest Member tables as well as news from our community leagues.

The Community Articles

With Sergio Aguero out for a number of Gameweeks through injury the community was in the market for a new striker. Rodellegabomb was on hand with this stat heavy, Members only, article on potential replacements for the Manchester City striker as well as a follow up looking at some more leftfield options.  Later in the week he also took a look at some of the best statistics for three of the week’s key bandwagons.

The Sarjeant also offers up a prime candidate to come into our frontlines in his latest look at team form, while Your Mum’s Athletic’s Gameweek 9 What the Bookies Say article predicts goals galore on the south coast this weekend to offer further replacement options.

With many defenders struggling with injury or battling the spectre of rotation, Innsie’s assessment of baseline bonus points amongst goalkeepers, full backs and centrebacks proved a timely article for those looking to revamp their backlines.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

There were plenty more options for those looking to replace Aguero in our look at the fall out from his injury, while Balders has taken a look to see how Manchester City fare in front of goal with and without their key striker.

Meanwhile, having sold the premium priced Aguero, the community are feeling rather flushed. Here’s how some are looking to flash their newly found cash.

As with our community articles, our community discussions also looked at defender options, as the injury flags continue to flutter alarmingly at the back. Our look at which centre backs and full backs are riding high in the Fantasy points, bonus, fixtures, assists and goal charts offers up some more options to consider drafting in.

Amongst midfielders, Riyad Mahrez appears to be on borrowed time, after being left out of Leicester’s side against Norwich in Gameweek 8 for tactical reasons. Abel Xavier is one of a number of community members considering letting Mahrez go. Diva has also been looking closely at Leicester players and asked whether Mahrez owners who also own Jamie Vardy, as well as two Southampton attackers are worried about over exposure when the two sides meet this weekend.

The injuries were also mounting up over at Anfield, where new boss Jurgen Klopp’s has promised a more intense brand of football. Danny Ings is now sidelined for the rest of the season after sustaining knee ligament damage in training, while Joe Gomez is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being injured while on international duty. For those wanting to know more about Klopp’s brand of football Jaffalicious was on hands with some of his most eye catching career statistics.

Elsewhere, Gargamel popped by with news of an update to his Gargatron tool, which gives Fantasy managers a revealing look at how their season has progressed so far.

Finally, it was Christina’s turn to hand out the cake as he celebrated his birthday this week.

The Members Tables

Danandandaman has taken a stab at predicting arguably the most unpredictable element of Fantasy Football, a goal from a defender. Greenwindmill’s latest table takes a look at tough defences who are forcing opposing teams to take long range pot shots, as well as soft touches who are inviting teams into their penalty box with alarming regularity.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

The qualification results and first round draw of BaldersAmerican style Community Grand Play Offs competition are now live. Balders also brought us news of plans to set up a new community tournament organisation.

The results from Gamweek 1 of Jarvish’s Blank Week Challenge, for those wanting to carry on scratching their Fantasy Football itch during the international break, have also been published. Moorinho is setting the pace so far, with Kingozil and Onside9 also doing well.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Bummer on the minus 12, but you gotta do what you gotta do...

Costa person, eh? Too risky for me at that price, but high risk / high reward, I guess! Otherwise, great midfield, and fine team for the week.

My defence is Evans, Kolarov, Francis, Gomez, Cresswell which could possibly be 1 starter this weekend. I'm probably playing AOA, my question is; is there any defender worth a hit? (already taken -4), it will be Gomez out for the long-term.

Thinking: Kompany, Coleman, Bellerin (probably in that order). Any thoughts?

Zero at the moment, hoping to get to double figures before the game week is out

  6. Ibracadabra

    My dilemma.

    A) Mahrez + Aguero ----> Sanchez and Pelle [or Bony] [would keep my 3-4-3 formation]

    OR

    B) Watson + Aguero ----> Walcott and Pelle [or Bony] [would play All out attack this week and then have to go 3-5-2 in the future]

Basically, A leaves me with the non-playing 4.3m Watson third on my bench (which I'm OK with and always like) and allows me to bring in Sanchez (a captain option long term, while Walcott is less of a captain option) but B allows me to keep Mahrez in case he continues his sparkling form and get rid of one non-playing player (Ben Watson, as V Behrami is back this week or next from suspension/injury).

I've always been the type to keep the most amount of money on the pitch rather than on my bench so I'm tempted to keep B. Watson and remove Mahrez, but I am carry J Evans and Zouma in defence so would need one of those two to play this week...

Any thoughts on A or B?

    Repost Shame!

    Team at the moment for GW9 ( (BANK = £5.0m, 0 FTs):

    Butland
    Sagna Azpilicueta Darmian
    Mahrez De Bruyne Sanchez Hoolahan
    Martial Pelle Kane

subs - McCarthy, Richards, Targett, Westwood

    Best option going forward?

    a) Westwood > Mane/Yaya (and play AoA, benching Darmian)
    b) Do nothing, avoid a hit and play the team above
    c) Summat else??

I'd say it's only worth it if your backup is away to City and the player you're getting has genuine goal threat and an easy fixture.

No such thing as an easy fixture when you're bottom of the league.

-4 for a guy playing for the team bottom of the league is probably not wise, no.

Ah, presumed you meant Janmaat, who else has goal threat and an easy fixture? Bellerin away to Watford?

I would argue that Francis has as much of a goal threat as anyone this week.

You're wrong http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/public-stats-tables/view/10212/ . Francis creates chances but not much goal threat .

If the player you get in has significantly better fixtures / form and it looks good over the next 4/5 weeks, it can be worth it. But for 1 game is mental.

Saving Kolarov here. Saved Koscielny all season too and that worked out for me so far.

I'd ship your failing backup before I ship Kolarov, he has Norwich at home in two games..

Also the defensive move may help fund someone in mid or up front who's returns might make it worth it

Fair play if you pull off case 1, it's not easy.

No chelsea for me. Had him for every GW until Arsenal then transferred him out for Kolarov. Aspi got a clean sheet and Kolarov didn't. They're both cursed for me.

The reason I cant take the armband off Pelle: Leicester have conceeded the joint most headed goals this season - 17!

Additionally comparing Sanchez away to Pelle at home, its unsplittable! Pelle is more likely to have a hand in a Soton goal than Sanchez in a Arse one..

    QUICK POLL:

    1. Kolarov to...(a) Kompany, (b) Azpilicueta, (c) Zouma, (d) Bellerin; OR

    2. Muniesa to... Dawson

    No hit taken...yet.....

    Bego

    Dawson // Bellerin // Richards
    Sanchez // Ayew // Pedro // Mahrez
    Pelle(c) // Martial // Sakho

    McCarthy // Westwood // Kolarov**/Gomez**

Worth a hit for the either of the 2 defenders?

Anyone keeping Kolorov through his injury? I doubt hwill fall back to 5.5 anytime soon and he represents good value.

Got Whittaker as back up and he has Newcastle and West Brom so its not the end of the world.

Will have to make a transfer at some point with Clichy back I just have other stuff to do right now.
