With injuries mounting up, our community writers were on hand to serve up a raft of options to replace ailing attackers, maligned midfielders and indisposed defenders. Our hot topic posters ponder just how to spend the riches made available through a certain Argentine striker’s dodgy hamstrings, while we also catch up on the latest Member tables as well as news from our community leagues.

The Community Articles

With Sergio Aguero out for a number of Gameweeks through injury the community was in the market for a new striker. Rodellegabomb was on hand with this stat heavy, Members only, article on potential replacements for the Manchester City striker as well as a follow up looking at some more leftfield options.  Later in the week he also took a look at some of the best statistics for three of the week’s key bandwagons.

The Sarjeant also offers up a prime candidate to come into our frontlines in his latest look at team form, while Your Mum’s Athletic’s Gameweek 9 What the Bookies Say article predicts goals galore on the south coast this weekend to offer further replacement options.

With many defenders struggling with injury or battling the spectre of rotation, Innsie’s assessment of baseline bonus points amongst goalkeepers, full backs and centrebacks proved a timely article for those looking to revamp their backlines.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

There were plenty more options for those looking to replace Aguero in our look at the fall out from his injury, while Balders has taken a look to see how Manchester City fare in front of goal with and without their key striker.

Meanwhile, having sold the premium priced Aguero, the community are feeling rather flushed. Here’s how some are looking to flash their newly found cash.

As with our community articles, our community discussions also looked at defender options, as the injury flags continue to flutter alarmingly at the back. Our look at which centre backs and full backs are riding high in the Fantasy points, bonus, fixtures, assists and goal charts offers up some more options to consider drafting in.

Amongst midfielders, Riyad Mahrez appears to be on borrowed time, after being left out of Leicester’s side against Norwich in Gameweek 8 for tactical reasons. Abel Xavier is one of a number of community members considering letting Mahrez go. Diva has also been looking closely at Leicester players and asked whether Mahrez owners who also own Jamie Vardy, as well as two Southampton attackers are worried about over exposure when the two sides meet this weekend.

The injuries were also mounting up over at Anfield, where new boss Jurgen Klopp’s has promised a more intense brand of football. Danny Ings is now sidelined for the rest of the season after sustaining knee ligament damage in training, while Joe Gomez is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being injured while on international duty. For those wanting to know more about Klopp’s brand of football Jaffalicious was on hands with some of his most eye catching career statistics.

Elsewhere, Gargamel popped by with news of an update to his Gargatron tool, which gives Fantasy managers a revealing look at how their season has progressed so far.

Finally, it was Christina’s turn to hand out the cake as he celebrated his birthday this week.

The Members Tables

Danandandaman has taken a stab at predicting arguably the most unpredictable element of Fantasy Football, a goal from a defender. Greenwindmill’s latest table takes a look at tough defences who are forcing opposing teams to take long range pot shots, as well as soft touches who are inviting teams into their penalty box with alarming regularity.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

The qualification results and first round draw of Balders’ American style Community Grand Play Offs competition are now live. Balders also brought us news of plans to set up a new community tournament organisation.

The results from Gamweek 1 of Jarvish’s Blank Week Challenge, for those wanting to carry on scratching their Fantasy Football itch during the international break, have also been published. Moorinho is setting the pace so far, with Kingozil and Onside9 also doing well.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

watford away vs bournmouth at home? i would choose city's game every time. watford are getting pretty notorious for clean sheets and bournmouth have struggled. both of their form's are undeniable so even in a fair match up it's a 50/50

Take your point about Watford but they haven't played a team like Arsenal or faced a beast like Sanchez yet.

They were away at City so could sit back a touch but at home they will have to attack and this is where they could get opened up.

With City's fixture I'm worried that they've lost too many key players to function like normal, it's tougher than it sounds for me.

good points. i dont really expect watford to keep a clean sheet and sanchez could very well be in the points. but i feel like de bruyne is equally unstoppable right now and even with aguero out (silva hasnt been around for de bruynes form anyways, and kolarov plays on the opposite side in defence) he should still give good odds of scoring.

Yes, I feel you are right and ultimately backing the home team has to settle it.

Bony is no mug too so De Bruyne will still have a quality striker to provide for and with Kolorov out he should pretty much have complete ownership of all the dead balls.

    No hits taken this week.

Kolarov and Nyom are doubtful. Richards, Darmian and Williams are the only other fit defenders.

    1 - Stick to what I got

    2 - Kolarov--->Dawson, Bellerin or Kompany for -4

If anyone can help RMT, it is much appreciated

    Elliot (Hennessey)

    Mertesacker - Cedric - A.Williams (Francis - Simpson)

Sanchez - KDB - Walcott - Mane (Tettey)

    Costa - Pelle - Gomis

    1. Based on a top down approach (fixture based) over the next 10 games, I am concentrating on Arsenal, Southampton and Swansea. MCI and Chelsea are good but MCI is currently beset by injuries while Chelsea is off form, hence only 1 player each.

Everton players will come in 2 weeks later, followed subsequently by Man Utd and Lpool players 4-5 weeks later. Newcastle has an awesome run of fixtures but unless their form picks up, I am not going anywhere near besides with Elliot (think will represent good value). Spurs is another interesting animal though I cannot see much value in any of their players, maybe Walker or at a stretch, Eriksen.

    2. Based on a bottom up approach (team based) using my model, Sanchez, Walcott, Pelle, Gomis and Mane all have top stats (shots in box, accuracy, chances created). Some other popular players such as Vardy also have such stats but I am ignoring them due to fixtures turning sour.

KDB is in the mid range but I believe from the way he plays, he is bound to get some points consistently.

As for Costa, it is more of a gamble, he has one full month to prepare and I believe in regression to the mean (that Chelsea will only get better esp with good fixtures over the next 10 weeks)

Question: Do you think this is a good balance of diversification and concentration of players (solid, on form players with one or two off but potentially explosive players) and teams (3 Southampton, 3 Arsenal, 2 Swan, 1 Che, 1 MCI, 1 New)?

    1. KaBoZ: Kids,don't Drin…
      • 11 Years

very good team and I agree with the way u think and plan
If u had the option to choose from:
      A) KDB + lukaku
      or
      B) Costa + Ayew/mata/Barkley
      Who'd u get?

      1. vballer
        • 14 Years
        10 years, 4 months ago

        Thanks!

As for your qs, I would say it really depends on your style of play/timeframe and rest of team.

I would prefer A, as based on my model, Barkley's stats (underlying stats, not actual points) aren't fantastic, whereas Lukaku's is way better. And I would much rather trust KDB than Costa for now. You can also wait till GW13 to get Costa.

Though I think B with Costa + Ayew could equal A, since Lukaku has 2 tough fixtures ahead. I think if you're in the lead in your ML, choose A, else, choose B if you have to take some risks.

Over 10 games, MCI, EVE and CHE all have good games, though EVE and CHE have better ones. So ideally I would get in KDB, Lukaku and Costa.

Other considerations are also impt, such as your style (how long you keep a player for), team injury situation, team concentration, budget setup etc. Hope this helps!

I have Myhill. The back four don't really do it for me to be honest. I'd go Dawson if I had to though.

McAuley is nailed right? West brom. I hate paying the extra 0.1 for Dawson.

Morning all, who's the deadzoners captaining?

Tough one this week as Sanchez, De Bruyne and Pelle are all good options.

Pelle for me, no real logic but when torn i usually go for the striker.

I'd go with Ayoze instead for a cheap punt

other than being a card magnet, he's not a bad punt. personally, i wouldn't do it though.

so standard -8 hit this GW

Not looking too bad if all start, I guess still question marks over Mahrez Evans and Sanchez but g2g

    Feeling nervous

    Stekelenburg
    Williams Evans* Gabriel
    Sanchez* Mahrez* Payet KDB(VC)
    Pelle(C) Lukaku Vardy

    McCarthy Westwood Darmian Kolarov

I am even more nervous with my team, 2 players injured, 1 player 50/50, and 2 players with game time risk.

Bench Gomis, Martial, Mahrez, or risk the AOA on all of Sanchez, Mané, and Mahrez playing (my defence is also complete toss this week without Kolarov)?

With defences in tatters, it's a good time to play AOA imo

    Ruddy
    Richards Morgan Darmian
    Sanchez Payet Ayew KDB(c)
    Pelle Vardy Martial
    (Butland Mahrez Kolarov Gomez)

G2G or should I play Mahrez instead of someone?

great time to use your AOA chip

not sure both Mahrez and Sanchez will start, thats the problem. If they don't I waste my AOA chip.

Go Jerome . 20% chance he will start , but if he does , Newcastle can be his game of the season. No idea what to do with him afterwords though .(plus i am pretty sure he wont start) :)))))))

Is there much of a difference?

    A) Mccauley (5 mill)
    B) Dawson (5.1 mill)

    Thanks!
