With injuries mounting up, our community writers were on hand to serve up a raft of options to replace ailing attackers, maligned midfielders and indisposed defenders. Our hot topic posters ponder just how to spend the riches made available through a certain Argentine striker’s dodgy hamstrings, while we also catch up on the latest Member tables as well as news from our community leagues.

The Community Articles

With Sergio Aguero out for a number of Gameweeks through injury the community was in the market for a new striker. Rodellegabomb was on hand with this stat heavy, Members only, article on potential replacements for the Manchester City striker as well as a follow up looking at some more leftfield options.  Later in the week he also took a look at some of the best statistics for three of the week’s key bandwagons.

The Sarjeant also offers up a prime candidate to come into our frontlines in his latest look at team form, while Your Mum’s Athletic’s Gameweek 9 What the Bookies Say article predicts goals galore on the south coast this weekend to offer further replacement options.

With many defenders struggling with injury or battling the spectre of rotation, Innsie’s assessment of baseline bonus points amongst goalkeepers, full backs and centrebacks proved a timely article for those looking to revamp their backlines.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

There were plenty more options for those looking to replace Aguero in our look at the fall out from his injury, while Balders has taken a look to see how Manchester City fare in front of goal with and without their key striker.

Meanwhile, having sold the premium priced Aguero, the community are feeling rather flushed. Here’s how some are looking to flash their newly found cash.

As with our community articles, our community discussions also looked at defender options, as the injury flags continue to flutter alarmingly at the back. Our look at which centre backs and full backs are riding high in the Fantasy points, bonus, fixtures, assists and goal charts offers up some more options to consider drafting in.

Amongst midfielders, Riyad Mahrez appears to be on borrowed time, after being left out of Leicester’s side against Norwich in Gameweek 8 for tactical reasons. Abel Xavier is one of a number of community members considering letting Mahrez go. Diva has also been looking closely at Leicester players and asked whether Mahrez owners who also own Jamie Vardy, as well as two Southampton attackers are worried about over exposure when the two sides meet this weekend.

The injuries were also mounting up over at Anfield, where new boss Jurgen Klopp’s has promised a more intense brand of football. Danny Ings is now sidelined for the rest of the season after sustaining knee ligament damage in training, while Joe Gomez is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being injured while on international duty. For those wanting to know more about Klopp’s brand of football Jaffalicious was on hands with some of his most eye catching career statistics.

Elsewhere, Gargamel popped by with news of an update to his Gargatron tool, which gives Fantasy managers a revealing look at how their season has progressed so far.

Finally, it was Christina’s turn to hand out the cake as he celebrated his birthday this week.

The Members Tables

Danandandaman has taken a stab at predicting arguably the most unpredictable element of Fantasy Football, a goal from a defender. Greenwindmill’s latest table takes a look at tough defences who are forcing opposing teams to take long range pot shots, as well as soft touches who are inviting teams into their penalty box with alarming regularity.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

The qualification results and first round draw of BaldersAmerican style Community Grand Play Offs competition are now live. Balders also brought us news of plans to set up a new community tournament organisation.

The results from Gamweek 1 of Jarvish’s Blank Week Challenge, for those wanting to carry on scratching their Fantasy Football itch during the international break, have also been published. Moorinho is setting the pace so far, with Kingozil and Onside9 also doing well.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

    This is my team currently:

    £5.2M ITB ..

    Myhill (McCarthy)
    Williams, Dawson, Kolarov, Oxford, Muniesa
    Sanchez, Mahrez, KdB, Payet, Sako
    Gomis, Martial, Vardy

I have 1 FT but am willing to go -4 for the right move - I am thinking possibly Muniesa for Soare and Sako for Mane which would then put Mahrez to the bench for GW9 (3-4-3). Any suggestions are welcomed for how to sort out my issue that non of my benched players get any minutes ...

Just Muniesa to Souare. Unnecessary hits imo given you can field XI.

Can't decide between Barkley and Mahrez, and with Francis as 3rd defender.... so reckon time for AOA. Also Costa in and armband. Go big or go home.

    GTG?

    Cech
    Dawson Bellerin
    Sanchez Barkley Mane Mahrez Payet
    Costa (c) Pelle (vc) Vardy

    Myhill - Francis, Kolarov, Nyom

I can see him being rested when game in bag based on Wenger's comments on EPL being most important.

making me rethink the AOA again with all the rest/rotation risks

Not really that worried about Vardy, confident in Southamptons defence. I think so, I'm planning on bringing in him/Bellerin for Kolarov. 🙂 Thoughts?

This is why I ditched him for Monreal. I didn't want to wait on Kola, have him get healthy the same time time as Clichy, and then have to wonder every week about rotation.

I gotta ask again.. How come Butland is top of the watchlist even though Stoke have 4 away games in the next 7(conceded most big chances in the league away from home) and 2 of their home games vs CHE/CITY.
And Fabianski has by far the best fixtures over the next 5/7 and is not even on the watchlist 😯

Beats me tbh. Stoke don't concede a lot of goals but their stats aren't the best and they should really be conceding more.

Ah Ryan.. i was told to talk to you regarding Payet. Considering getting rid of him on WC after looking at his goal threat stats(Regression imminent!) and most considered me crazy and said they'd seen you consider it too. Did you get rid of him?

I never owned him for that very reason. His goal stats are not great and its caught me off guard tbh. I trusted in the stats and it has cost me. Still, it has regression imminent all over it.

Infact i think i'm gonna find 0.5 to upgrade Butland to Fabianski.. Saves and CS potential. the only thing stopping me is i have Hennessey too and if it is indeed his spot to lose at Palace(And i suspect it is) then i'd have a perfect rotation with Butland at a very cheap price

Anything look out of place with this WC team? Feel free to lend me your thoughts

    Myhill Gomes

    Bellerin Dawson Cedric Moreno Davies
    Sanchez KDB Walcott Mane Mahrez
    Pelle Vardy Ighalo

    2.9m itb

352 for the next two weeks at least. Plan is to have 2FT's for GW11 and get in any necessary players from Everton/United/Chelsea if need be. Its a conservative team structure that has the flexibility to bring in Aguero for when he returns by not having too much invested at the back.

I decided to go with Ighalo and Walcott instead of Lukaku and Hoolahan. I could go with a big front 8 but I've decided I could do with more flexibility going into GW11 so I could make the 352/343 call then and can easily adjust.

This is the sort of thing I was looking at doing. I wouldn't be too worried this stage at organising your finances for Kun - that's further down the track.

      Prefer Lukaku to Igloo.

Good defence but if you got Cech with Elliot, you cover the ARS defence w/out rotation. I'd be tempted by Janmaat for Bellerin.

I've had Bellerin since GW1 and everyone was saying he was a rotation threat then. I think we can safely say he's the starting RB for Arsenal. Even if he does get a surprise rest I have faith in the depth of my defence.

Yeah I could get Bertrand but Cedric's stats have been fairly decent when compared to his team mates so far. I think they'll continue to be as well. Perhaps I'm just being frugal by saving 0.3. I'm really conscious of not spending too much at the back.

Ok guys Bertrand vs Cedric. 0.3 price difference and ........ what else is the difference - expected performance wise .Looks pretty similar to me :

Bertrand - a potential differential as lowly owned(1.2% vs 4.5% - why noone owns those guys they are both great????)
Cedric - well we saw him in the games till now - looks lively , and like he is soooo close to scoring ( and never does) 0.3 cheaper.

Both attack , cross, nailed on and all the bells and whistles. so, what is your choice if you must choose one.

Gonna do a quick WC post before the Saturday Morning madness begins 🙂

    _________ Hennessey
    Bertrand Dawson Janmaat Moreno Simpson
    Sanchez KDB Yaya Mane __________
    Pelle Vardy _______

Decided on everthing but those 3 spots

    A) Begovic/Fabianski + Hazard + Ighalo
    B) Butland + Wally + Lukaku

Straight fight between the two. No additional options please else i'll go crazy 😆 .. A) gives me a more conventional format with a cheap attacker to bench while B) gives me AOA potential soon along with great backup for UCL rest and rotation

      • 16 Years

With A) its a simple Hazard downgrade in 4 weeks and a Vardy upgrade(poor fixtures GW 13) onwards.
with B) it'll involve an extra downgrade somewhere

    Please help regarding the decision:

    1) Let it be as it is without a hit as you can field 11
    2) Westwood -> KDB (-4). Play KDB, bench Ighalo.
    3) Westwood - > KDB (-4). Play AOA and play first 2 defs.
    4) Kolarov -> Bellerin (-4). Play Bellerin and Ighalo. Maybe Bellerin's better for long term thinking.
    5) Ighalo -> Costa/Sturridge (-4).

Payet (that's the easy part). Then it becomes a lottery.

Mane could be anything. Wal is an OOP in top form playing for a team creating heaps of chances. However, you always have this rot threat hanging over him.

Ayew, imo, is the player I wish I had the most. I can be see him being a decent OOP all season long.

Definitely a rotation risk with Ayoze. As a toon fan McClaren's still figuring out his best 11. Ayoze may be rotated and is also likely to spend time on the wing with Mitrovic acting as a central striker if we revert back to a 4231. IMO Ayoze is a good player and should be starting every game, but he's not a good fantasy prospect yet. Could come off at that price though.

Keen for your views on Mitrovic please. I am on WC and taking a punt on him. He really impressed me v Chelsea and looks a real threat. Just not convinced he will get much supply? I think in Ayoze, Siss and Wij you have some real class. Shouldn't be struggling for goals with these?

Mitrovic has looked lively and I think he'll start scoring some goals now our fixtures have turned. Card magnet though obviously. Nailed on in the central striker role. I was certainly tempted by him this week. Worth a punt IMO. I Went for Janmaat for Newcastle cover for the good fixtures and broke my cardinal FPL rule of no Newcastle players.
