With injuries mounting up, our community writers were on hand to serve up a raft of options to replace ailing attackers, maligned midfielders and indisposed defenders. Our hot topic posters ponder just how to spend the riches made available through a certain Argentine striker’s dodgy hamstrings, while we also catch up on the latest Member tables as well as news from our community leagues.

The Community Articles

With Sergio Aguero out for a number of Gameweeks through injury the community was in the market for a new striker. Rodellegabomb was on hand with this stat heavy, Members only, article on potential replacements for the Manchester City striker as well as a follow up looking at some more leftfield options.  Later in the week he also took a look at some of the best statistics for three of the week’s key bandwagons.

The Sarjeant also offers up a prime candidate to come into our frontlines in his latest look at team form, while Your Mum’s Athletic’s Gameweek 9 What the Bookies Say article predicts goals galore on the south coast this weekend to offer further replacement options.

With many defenders struggling with injury or battling the spectre of rotation, Innsie’s assessment of baseline bonus points amongst goalkeepers, full backs and centrebacks proved a timely article for those looking to revamp their backlines.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

There were plenty more options for those looking to replace Aguero in our look at the fall out from his injury, while Balders has taken a look to see how Manchester City fare in front of goal with and without their key striker.

Meanwhile, having sold the premium priced Aguero, the community are feeling rather flushed. Here’s how some are looking to flash their newly found cash.

As with our community articles, our community discussions also looked at defender options, as the injury flags continue to flutter alarmingly at the back. Our look at which centre backs and full backs are riding high in the Fantasy points, bonus, fixtures, assists and goal charts offers up some more options to consider drafting in.

Amongst midfielders, Riyad Mahrez appears to be on borrowed time, after being left out of Leicester’s side against Norwich in Gameweek 8 for tactical reasons. Abel Xavier is one of a number of community members considering letting Mahrez go. Diva has also been looking closely at Leicester players and asked whether Mahrez owners who also own Jamie Vardy, as well as two Southampton attackers are worried about over exposure when the two sides meet this weekend.

The injuries were also mounting up over at Anfield, where new boss Jurgen Klopp’s has promised a more intense brand of football. Danny Ings is now sidelined for the rest of the season after sustaining knee ligament damage in training, while Joe Gomez is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being injured while on international duty. For those wanting to know more about Klopp’s brand of football Jaffalicious was on hands with some of his most eye catching career statistics.

Elsewhere, Gargamel popped by with news of an update to his Gargatron tool, which gives Fantasy managers a revealing look at how their season has progressed so far.

Finally, it was Christina’s turn to hand out the cake as he celebrated his birthday this week.

The Members Tables

Danandandaman has taken a stab at predicting arguably the most unpredictable element of Fantasy Football, a goal from a defender. Greenwindmill’s latest table takes a look at tough defences who are forcing opposing teams to take long range pot shots, as well as soft touches who are inviting teams into their penalty box with alarming regularity.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

The qualification results and first round draw of BaldersAmerican style Community Grand Play Offs competition are now live. Balders also brought us news of plans to set up a new community tournament organisation.

The results from Gamweek 1 of Jarvish’s Blank Week Challenge, for those wanting to carry on scratching their Fantasy Football itch during the international break, have also been published. Moorinho is setting the pace so far, with Kingozil and Onside9 also doing well.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

I got bottom paged, but really want this discussion lads.

Too many talks of hits when we the captain choice is genuinely going to be the make or break thing this week.

Agueros injury has given us 3 very solid captain choices for the FFS template.

Whos everyone going for? Persuade us why if you can be bothered!!

Hazard most likely here, scored for Belgium twice and until I see otherwise, think he's still on penalties.

KDB - form side, good fixture, in the hole, extra point for goals - unsure of Bony impact on supply/through balls
Costa - no personal or team form, good fixture, historically high scoring, one of the top scorers in the league last year
Sanchez - worse fixture than the others, Watford don't concede many, bang in form
Pelle - form + fixture, can miss easy chances and be frustrating

Sagna was rest. I think he is the 1st choice. zaba was really weak vs New and he won't start this week (because of he came back very late from national team).

I know. But if Clichy plays left back it means Sagna doesn't have to cover that position ....:

Which puts Zaba at risk ........

Zaba was back on the bench vs Tottenham and the CL in midweek before - the Newcastle game was probably seen as the best match to ease him back into. When everyone is fit and available I suspect Sagna and Zabaleta will rotate.

1: A, unless you still have your WC to use in a few weeks time.

Prior to Kolarov being injured he was scoring 0, 0, 2.

Will miss Bournemouth, could miss United, could be subject to rotation, will drop in value.

I don't see how removing him for a hit is a 1 week move.

    1. Irish Madridista ⭐
      • 15 Years
      10 years, 4 months ago

if he's back against United it's a 1 week move.

Rotation is far from certain and value is meaningless at the moment with Kun out.

How is rotation far from certain?

Could play versus United, might only score 2pts.

And when Aguero is back value is back in play and budgets are stretched again and every penny counts.

        1. Irish Madridista ⭐
          • 15 Years

I didn't have a problem with budget at all even with Aguero, loads of cheapos this year, Ighalo, Vardy, Mahrez, Cabaye to name a few.

Kolarov started every single game towards the end of last season when Clichy was fit and ready, Clichy coming back doesn't automatically relegate Kolarov to the bench anymore. Sure he maaay be rotated for the CL, but he's definitely first choice right now.

Your point about Kolarov maybe only scoring 2 points vs United could be applied to any player in that gameweek.
