Danny Ings and Joe Gomez are ruled out for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage for Liverpool. Laurent Koscielny requires a late fitness test as Arsenal head to Watford, West Ham have doubts over Winston Reid and Aaron Cresswell, whilst Alexis Sanchez and Riyad Mahrez will be assessed after arriving back late from internationals.

Having only arrived back in London on Thursday afternoon following Chile’s win in Peru, Alexis Sanchez is set to be assessed ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Watford. Elsewhere in the Gunners camp, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini return to the squad, while Laurent Koscielny faces a late fitness test. Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck are said to be recovering well from their injuries, with the latter pencilled in for a January return.

Slaven Bilic revealed that Andy Carroll is back in contention after missing West Ham’s trip to Sunderland last Gameweek, but Aaron Creswell and Winston Reid are being monitored closely to determine their capacity to start at Crystal Palace. Enner Valencia and Alex Song require another two to three weeks to get up to speed, whilst Angelo Ogbonna could be in contention after returning to training.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Joe Gomez is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after he sustained anterior cruciate ligament damage. Danny Ings suffered a similar injury during Klopp’s maiden training session, ruling him out for around six months. Liverpool’s trip to Tottenham arrives too early for Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino, but the pair are expected to return to team training next week.

Spurs new boy Heung-Min Son faces up to another three weeks out as he nurses a foot injury. Meanwhile, Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason will also play no part against the Reds but could be involved in the Lilywhites’ midweek Europa League tie against Anderlecht. Eric Dier serves a one-match suspension this weekend.

Wes Hoolahan recovered from the heel knock he picked up last time out against Leicester City over the recent international break. Gary Hooper is back training following his ankle complaint, whilst Youssouf Mulumbu won’t feature against Newcastle United but could make a return to the matchday squad next Gameweek.

Roberto Martinez said that Everton’s full international contingent returned home fit and healthy. John Stones is expected to be passed fit, whilst Seamus Coleman returned to action over the internationals. The likes of Leighton Baines, Tom Cleverley and Steven Pienaar are approximately two weeks away from being up for selection.

Following the death of his mother, Mame Biram Diouf has been granted compassionate leave and will miss Stoke City’s trip to Swansea City on Monday evening. Mark Hughes expects the Senegal international to report back at the beginning of next week. Ryan Shawcross continued his road to recovery with a 90-minute run-out against Birmingham in a behind-closed-doors friendly, setting him up for a possible return in two weeks’ time.

Ronald Koeman could hand Jordy Clasie – who played 90 minutes in a friendly against Ajax last week – his league bow when Leicester pay a visit. On the injury front, Shane Long damaged his ankle ligament during the international break and will be sidelined for two to four weeks.

Claudio Ranieri will check on the fitness of Riyad Mahrez and Jeffrey Schlupp prior to the Foxes’ trip to the south coast as the pair only reported back on Thursday morning. Nathan Dyer bolsters Ranieri’s wide options after recovering from a knee injury.

Damien Delaney, Chung-yong Lee, Mile Jedinak and Jordon Mutch all returned to training for Crystal Palace and will be available for selection when the Hammers roll up to Selhurst Park. Joel Ward and Connor Wickham are still sidelined, though.

In the absence of Tim Krul, Rob Elliot will play between the sticks for Newcastle United. Paul Dummett, Daryl Janmaat, Massadio Haidara and Jack Colback trained during the week so are in contention for a start at home to Norwich City.

Despite not being fit enough to turn out for their countries during the international break, Ikechi Anya, Allan Nyom and Valon Behrami are expected to recover in time to feature against Arsenal on Saturday. Jurado is contending with a hamstring injury but could return to training within the fortnight.

Jonny Evans, James Morrison and Saido Berahino are rated 50-50 for West Brom’s home clash with Sunderland, according to Tony Pulis. Salomon Rondon will be assessed after arriving back late from internationals.

Need some guidance on who to pick from my 15:

    Myhill/ Begovic
    Monreal/ Zouma/ Evans/ Kelly/ Cedric
    Sanchez/ Mata/ Morrison/ Mahrez/ Payet
    Pelle/ Ighalo/ Sakho

Debating Kelly over Cedric as well as Ighalo over Mahrez?

Is there any point to playing a Back 5?

Bench Morrison, Ighalo and Evans/Zouma(depending on which keeper you play)

Evans & Morrison apparently doubtful to start, would you say Begovic or Myhill more likely to keep a clean sheet?

hello fellow FFS members, in the previous article, i had spammed a lot, i apologize for that, but that sort of happened as i wasn't really getting any feedback from my fellow managers on my query as to whom to bench & whether to play the AOA chip!! that sort of pricked me, even more so, considering i comment on other people's questions as much as possible, but for nearly an hour, i didn't get anything on my post, though my spamming wasn't the right thing to do!
i'd request everyone to help each other out as much as possible!

Thank you! i'd like to move on... to my query(without spamming, ofcourse) 😀

One player I'm tempted to get but haven't seen mentioned on here is Coleman.

Anyone else on a WC tempted to go Kolarov > Coleman if Kolarov is confirmed out later (or even if not)? The WC means you'll have decent bench cover until GW11 when those amazing fixtures kick in and no rotation/Champs league risks. Am I crazy for considering this??

      On WC.

      A. Gomes, Coleman, Dawson.
      B. Myhill, Kompany, Cedric.

The rest: Hennessey Gabriel Janmaat Simpson.

Kompany is tempting this week, but I'll switch to Coleman for Everton fixtures eventually.

      Thoughts?

This is what I'm talking about, I'd be tempted by A! City play United next week so it's not as if a City defender is a must have for the next 2 weeks.

Having said that I'd probably rather have Cedric over Dawson

He hasn't had enough transfers out essentially. I imagine he had a pretty high NTI figure before his injury and the flags increase the drop threshold so it's been a long way down.

      • 16 Years

The price-change sites have some margin for error due to WC transfers not counting. With this in mind, it was only touch-and-go as to whether he'd drop last night. Should be clearer tonight.

Hi guys, first post ever here.

I play in a private league of 6 players where highest weekly score wins all the cash. We don't take hits into account, so that means unlimited transfers every week.

I am deciding between two options for front 8.

    Option A (conventional)
    -------------------------------
    KDB - Sanchez - Payet - Mane
    Vardy - Pelle(c) - Costa

    Option B (enterprising)
    -----------------------------
    KDB - Eriksen/Sanchez - Payet - Wilnajdum
    Lukaku - Pelle(c) - Costa

Remember, future fixtures don't matter because of unlimited transfers. Also, I am set on choosing Costa as a punt.

Talk some sense into me for not choosing B?

    Thank you!

if you don't hear any other news on their chances of playing or not I would go with C.
cant play AOA when you aren't even sure if they will start.
there isn't a lot in the choice and either could work, but I prefer to play a forward at home if undecided

exactly, i don't understand how people think francis/nyom/bassong will outscore ighalo! i'm very tempted to play the chip

Play the chip if Kolarov looks a doubt either through injury or Clichy returning.

I'd be tempted to play the chip anyway..that front 8 is much better than most of your defenders this week.

exactly my gut feeling! many are suggesting benching ighalo! that's quite astonishing! arsenal rarely keep a clean sheet away from home! & if watford score, its very likely to ighalo goal/assist
        & anyway i doubt nyom/francis/bassong outscoring ighalo!

Agree, benching Ighalo is not an option with that defence.

I'd say C. It's similar to what I'm doing, though I have Bellerin in defence so I don't want Watford to score. I'm expecting (hoping) LEI v SOU will be a goal-fest and that Mahrez will play.

you're saying it in a biased way, i have ighalo, at home, why would i bench him to start francis or bassong or nyom? doesn't make sense to me, we both know its more likely arsenal to win 3-1 or 2-1 instead of 2-0 or 3-0

I'm biased? You had most people here telling you to do C! You just didn't want to. The results spoke for themselves in the end.

My defence is in pieces. Kolarov,Evans and Cresswell all flagged and Richards the only player who will definitely start. Worth another hit to bring in a decent defender?

With Gael Clichy still sidelined, Kolarov's issue could see one of the right-backs having to shunt over to play on the left. Pablo Zabaleta played there on a handful of occasions early on in his City career so would seem the likely candidate if Kolarov doesn't make it. That does not sound encouraging . Presser at 12:45

Best replacement for Gomez to take a -4 on and get that back? 5m in the bank.

Struggling to get a defence out: Muniesa, Kolarov, Richards, Darmian, Gomez, so need to make a move for future weeks.

    Aguero & Gomez -> Pelle & Bellerin?

    Targett
    Pedro
    Mahrez
    Westwood
    Kolorov

I am like most people, have taken out aguero and have loads do cash but no city attacker do I take a hit to get one in or risk it and do it next week?

    Aguero out for pelle/lukaku
Barkley/ mahrez out for debruyne for -4

    What to do?

You are assuming that KDB will outscore Barkley or Mahrez this week, and I don't think there is any surety in this assumption.

I would wait a week, so how he does, and get him in for free if you still want him.

Plan for the future or maximize this GW?

    On WC.

    A. Gomes, Coleman, Dawson.
    B. Myhill, Kompany, Cedric.

The rest: Hennessey Gabriel Janmaat Simpson.

Kompany is tempting this week, but I'll switch to Coleman for Everton fixtures eventually.
