Danny Ings and Joe Gomez are ruled out for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage for Liverpool. Laurent Koscielny requires a late fitness test as Arsenal head to Watford, West Ham have doubts over Winston Reid and Aaron Cresswell, whilst Alexis Sanchez and Riyad Mahrez will be assessed after arriving back late from internationals.

Having only arrived back in London on Thursday afternoon following Chile’s win in Peru, Alexis Sanchez is set to be assessed ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Watford. Elsewhere in the Gunners camp, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini return to the squad, while Laurent Koscielny faces a late fitness test. Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck are said to be recovering well from their injuries, with the latter pencilled in for a January return.

Slaven Bilic revealed that Andy Carroll is back in contention after missing West Ham’s trip to Sunderland last Gameweek, but Aaron Creswell and Winston Reid are being monitored closely to determine their capacity to start at Crystal Palace. Enner Valencia and Alex Song require another two to three weeks to get up to speed, whilst Angelo Ogbonna could be in contention after returning to training.

Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Joe Gomez is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after he sustained anterior cruciate ligament damage. Danny Ings suffered a similar injury during Klopp’s maiden training session, ruling him out for around six months. Liverpool’s trip to Tottenham arrives too early for Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino, but the pair are expected to return to team training next week.

Spurs new boy Heung-Min Son faces up to another three weeks out as he nurses a foot injury. Meanwhile, Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason will also play no part against the Reds but could be involved in the Lilywhites’ midweek Europa League tie against Anderlecht. Eric Dier serves a one-match suspension this weekend.

Wes Hoolahan recovered from the heel knock he picked up last time out against Leicester City over the recent international break. Gary Hooper is back training following his ankle complaint, whilst Youssouf Mulumbu won’t feature against Newcastle United but could make a return to the matchday squad next Gameweek.

Roberto Martinez said that Everton’s full international contingent returned home fit and healthy. John Stones is expected to be passed fit, whilst Seamus Coleman returned to action over the internationals. The likes of Leighton Baines, Tom Cleverley and Steven Pienaar are approximately two weeks away from being up for selection.

Following the death of his mother, Mame Biram Diouf has been granted compassionate leave and will miss Stoke City’s trip to Swansea City on Monday evening. Mark Hughes expects the Senegal international to report back at the beginning of next week. Ryan Shawcross continued his road to recovery with a 90-minute run-out against Birmingham in a behind-closed-doors friendly, setting him up for a possible return in two weeks’ time.

Ronald Koeman could hand Jordy Clasie – who played 90 minutes in a friendly against Ajax last week – his league bow when Leicester pay a visit. On the injury front, Shane Long damaged his ankle ligament during the international break and will be sidelined for two to four weeks.

Claudio Ranieri will check on the fitness of Riyad Mahrez and Jeffrey Schlupp prior to the Foxes’ trip to the south coast as the pair only reported back on Thursday morning. Nathan Dyer bolsters Ranieri’s wide options after recovering from a knee injury.

Damien Delaney, Chung-yong Lee, Mile Jedinak and Jordon Mutch all returned to training for Crystal Palace and will be available for selection when the Hammers roll up to Selhurst Park. Joel Ward and Connor Wickham are still sidelined, though.

In the absence of Tim Krul, Rob Elliot will play between the sticks for Newcastle United. Paul Dummett, Daryl Janmaat, Massadio Haidara and Jack Colback trained during the week so are in contention for a start at home to Norwich City.

Despite not being fit enough to turn out for their countries during the international break, Ikechi Anya, Allan Nyom and Valon Behrami are expected to recover in time to feature against Arsenal on Saturday. Jurado is contending with a hamstring injury but could return to training within the fortnight.

Jonny Evans, James Morrison and Saido Berahino are rated 50-50 for West Brom’s home clash with Sunderland, according to Tony Pulis. Salomon Rondon will be assessed after arriving back late from internationals.

If I bring Pelle in then I will have four attacking players in the Southampton V Leicester game.

    Vardy
    Mahrez
    Mane
    Pelle

That seems like a lot of eggs in one basket.

How many have other people got?

Nope I have the exact same players, and I think it cold be a goalfest. Leicester almost always score, but can't keep a clean sheet to save their lives, while Saints are in great attacking form.

          Cue a 0-0 draw...

Well it could well be a 3-2 game or similar!

They are two of the most in form attacks at the moment and no one seems to care too much when they have 3 players from City, Ars, or Che when in form.

I'd probably buy Gestede. He seems to be getting chances recently and he looks confident.

Other choices include Glenn Murray. With WIlson gone, he's sure to get a few goals. My only issue with him could be his confidence levels after the penalty miss. The bright side is that bournemouth dominated that game.

MItrovic's gametime is a worry for me so I wouldn't take a punt on him. Also Newcastle will need time to recover after that thrashing.

In terms of a safer option, go with Sakho. He'll get chances to score and he'll take a couple. I'm not a fan of his fixtures however.

Lastly you can consider switching to Bojan but i'd wait until he has a few more 90 minute games under his belt.

So really in summary I'd either go for Sakho (safe option) or Gestede/Murray (The riskier options)

"Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Aleksandar Kolarov have all been ruled out after picking up injuries whilst on international duty."

A bit of precision on the "link on the previous page" would have been good. The official mcfc site to which there also was a link on previous page says Kolarov's situation is a question mark - which sounds like the more reliable source.

If Kolarov is ruled out for this weekend what would be your advice to do with this defense.

    Kola/Cresswell/Huth/Francis/Williams

My thoughts are to get Bertrand/Bellerin in, but debating if i should ship Kola and hope Cresswell plays and then ship Cresswell for the one i didnt get.

Yeah I'm more worried about this week... if Kolarov is out I may AOO but it may be wasted if Hoolahan doesn't play... suppose I could always upgrade him to Walcott or Mane... not sure if I want two SOT just yet tho.

How come everyone is so keen on Bertrand.... I know Southampton have relatively good fixtures but they haven't exactly been keeping cleansheets.

I was under the understanding that Kolarov is very unlikely to make this weekend.... anyone know the time of the MC presser??

Captain... Pelle, Sanchez, Payet? Not looking great this week

I'm going with Pelle because of form and Sanchez is late back from international duty... even though I don't think he'll be rested he may be jaded.

I'm leaning Sanchez (c) with Pelle (vc)... But that could turn out poor if Sanchez plays half a game or something

Pelle's the safest, but get ready to be frustrated

This week is a bit of a punt all round.

Is there any chance at all of Targett playing this GW? If Kolarov is out, then I will have only two playing defenders :/

Do you think Villa will lose on purpose so that Sherwood gets sacked?

They will lose whether they try or not.

Any changes you'd make to this? On a Wildcard

    Howard/Elliot
    Bellerin/Dawson/Cedric (Moreno, Francis)
    Hazard, Sanchez, KDB, Payet, Mahrez
    Pelle, Vardy (Ighalo)

Have been toying up Howard, Cedric, Dawson > Butland, Bertrand, Jagielka

I like it. Tough fixtures for Moreno but ok, he is cheap. If Hazard doesnt work you could double up City og Arsenal mids.

Or will they turn up just so the 'special one' gets canned? Another Chelsea loss would be golden.

I was trying to find Chelsea in the premiership table I couldn't find them, it's brilliant they are 16th

If they lose to Villa and WBA expectedly beats Sunderland, Chelsea is only 1 point from relegation. 😀

In fact, if they get another questionable decision which results in them losing I think he may explode.

    Butland
    Kolarov* Richards Dawson
    Sanchez KDB (C) Mahrez Payet
    Costa Pelle (V) Vardy
    Schmeichel Westwood Francis Gomez*
    Already on -4. 2.5m itb
GTG or take another hit to get rid of Gomez so I dont have to play Richards?

I'd stick, unless you have a really good defensive transfer to make
