[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope claimed no new victims over the last couple of days, but there are now 13 players finely balanced at the four-yellow mark with just one match remaining in Gameweek 9.

Prior to the weekend’s action getting underway, there were ten men on the verge of a one-match suspension: Ciaran Clark, Jeffrey Schlupp, Fernandinho, Eliaquim Mangala, Matteo Darmian, Jack Colback, Oriol Romeu, Billy Jones, Dele Alli and Mark Noble were all precariously perched.

James Milner joined that cast with a late challenge on Danny Rose and rode his luck for the remainder of Liverpool’s encounter against Spurs, escaping without a red despite making a number of clumsy tackles. Meanwhile, Erik Lamela proved similarly tenacious for the home team and subsequently received his fourth caution of the campaign, placing him at risk of missing the North London derby in Gameweek 12. Spurs and Man City are the only two teams with one than one player on this week’s Tightrope, with both sides affording us two apiece.

Finally, Claudio Yacob – a midfield lynchpin for a West Bromwich Albion outfit that ranks joint-top for clean sheets (five) this term – entered the referee’s notebook for the third time in four outings, earning him caution number four for the campaign.

In terms of new suspensions, Dwight Gayle received his marching orders for two soft yellows during Crystal Palace’s 3-1 home defeat to West Ham United yesterday. The Eagles frontman was dismissed with the score level at one apiece late in the first-half and, post-match, manager Alan Pardew reckoned the decision was a little unjust:

“Our striker gets booked for a bad challenge, quite rightly. The second challenge, the referee knows he’s booked, he’s missed it by a centimetre probably and he sends him off. I thought a man of his experience perhaps should have looked at that situation and given him his final warning. I’m not excusing him from complete blame. The second challenge, he shouldn’t make. He’ll have to learn from that. Having said that, I still think it was very harsh to send him off.”

The 5.1-priced Gayle – who has started the last three outings up top – now sits out the Eagles’ trip to Leicester City next Gameweek, with Pardew likely to turn to Fraizer Campbell or Patrick Bamford if Connor Wickham fails to recover from injury in time. Given that he’s failed to net in five league appearances, Gayle may find it difficult to make an immediate return to the first XI in Gameweek 11.

Turning our attention towards players that have served their time, Eric Dier and Sebastian Coates – who toppled off the Tightrope last Gameweek – are available for selection next time out. The former will be hoping to reclaim his starting role in central midfield for the trip to Bournemouth, though Mousa Dembele staked a claim for another start with a man-of-the-match performance against Liverpool yesterday. Coates, meanwhile, will have to impress new manager Sam Allardyce to displace either Younes Kaboul or John O’Shea in central defence.

Jeremain Lens also makes a welcome return for the Black Cats, having fulfilled his duties and sat out their 1-0 loss at The Hawthorns. The Dutch midfielder – who has played a part in five of Sunderland’s eight league goals this season – could have a key part to play in the Wear-Tyne derby next Sunday as Big Sam welcomes his former club to the Stadium of Light.

          physioroom.com states,

"Another 4-5 weeks till the left back is available again"

          AND

          "Return Date: 25th October 2015"

Actually, according to this very site. He was declared as out for 6-7 weeks, back on 28th August. That would take him up to this week (17th October according to FFS).

I don't know if this information is out of date now, or if he's had a setback.

      Definitely not Sakho.

I'd probably say Kolarov. The likelihood is you can afford one price drop for Richards before you start losing SV. Plus, I feel Kolorov will soon become a rotation risk, so now's not a bad to take to take your points and run.

Sinclair, only if there are other week areas of your front 8, personally.

Currently at OR 47k, after taking a -12. Fabianski left to play.

How's this looking for next GW?

    Fabianski
    Dawson / Bellerin / Janmaat
    Payet / Sanchez / KDB / Mahrez
    Pelle / Costa / Vardy

Subs: Gomes / Moreno / Prodl / Wanyama

Liverpool, United, Arsenal, Southampton and arguably Chelsea...five defences that are mightily tempting from GW13 onwards. So pricey though, although Moreno offers a cheap route into the pool defence, can probably only pick two from the others

Arsenal defense pretty much a must - finally succumbed to Kolarov -> Bellering yesterday to beat the price changes. WIth Moreno as coming in as a cheapie, I'd say you only need one more 5.5+ defender ion addition.

Need your thoughts on this lads! I am on a WC, and have this midfield currently:

    Sanchez, KDB, Sterling, Payet, Mahrez

I am now thinking of getting Wijnaldum over Payet to free up some cash for getting Everton and United defenders in before their plum fixtures.

    What do you think?

Though he's probably a good choice, I wouldn't do that. Only 5 spots in midfield, you can't have them all. Payet a season keeper imho.

Earlier I posted the following.. But I still think we must avoid hits if possible

After we take hits, we very likely see a red arrow in the overall ranking? I see in the history that whenever I have a "transfer cost", there is a down red arrow in the right most column- so far this season. Interestingly, when there is "0" transfer cost, I have a green arrow! Hits before 3 GWs and 3 red arrows..

Other than those, green ones. Just coincidence or is it the trend? This GW, I took (-8) hit and went down in the OR (still have Ayew and Butland but will still see red), though the players I got in score a lot more than those I sold.

        Bony + Dawson + Pelle = 23 pts
        Aguero + Sagna + Jerome = 2 pts

Most of you here are against any hit.. I think it should be that way in general?

    Ruddy
    Mertesacker, Williams, Cedric
    Sanchez, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Payet
    Pelle, Vardy, Bony

subs: Rudd --- Huth, Saylor, Bentaleb --- 1 FT, 6.2 ITB

Had a plan to WC on gameweek 11 but not sure if it's worth it just because turn in fixtures. But if I wildcard on gw 11 could do for example Bentaleb -> Özil and play all out attack this week. Thoughts? Or just save a FT?

Really stuck on a WC defence. Currently have Bellerin and Simpson. Those I've considered are

Dawson - Terrible fixture coming up
Aldy - good option but EL puts me off
    SOT - good option
MUN - Darmian a bit expensive now and the rest are injury prone
LIV - fixtures no good and we don't know how well their defence will be
SUN - cheap options for 4/5th defender
WAT - good 4th defender options
CHE - going to get Bego
    EVE - good option

I should've added I hate spending money on defence. I usually go for 6m 5m 4.5m 4.5m 4m. But with no Jan WC and good fixtures I might change this and invest more

the way defenders are priced this season, I think 5.0s are the minimum we should be considering for our 3rd defender even.

No clear 4.0 nailed on defender, 'premium' picks at 5.5 (ARS, LIV, UTD) considering the 6.0 and up aren't worth it (yet), multiple decent defenses @ 5.0 (SWA, TOT, WBA, SOT)

        What do you think of:

        De Gea

        Bellerin, Toby, Jagielka, Ward, Simpson

*Could switch De Gea/Jagielka to Howard/Darmian

Got to be B. or D.

Depends on your team structure if you want to get a defender or forward. I'm happy with 4-3-3 with Westwood for now.

Looking to get a Spurs defender as they have a great chance for cs's in the next 2. From gw12 fixtures turn in which case I'll sell on. Alderweireld is the percentage buy but over this 2 game period imo Dier will get more points but is riskier due to yc's/rotation doubts. Dier will also have a great chance re attacking stats if Spurs really attack Boum. & Villa.

    Will give me:
    Butland, McCarthy
    Kolorov, Williams, Zouma. Dier/Alder, Richards
    Sanchez, KDB, Payet, Mahrez, Redmond
    Vardy, Pelle, Diouf

    Thoughts & thanks.
