Georginio Wijnaldum scores four times as Newcastle rout Norwich at St James’. Magpies front two Ayoze Perez and Aleksandar Mitrovic also get on the scoresheet, whilst strikes from Dieumerci Mbokani and Nathan Redmond offer scant consolation for the beaten Canaries.

Wijnaldum Grabs Four for Magpies

Newcastle registered their first win of the season in astounding fashion at St James’ Park, putting Norwich City to the sword in a 6-2 mauling. Georginio Wijnaldum etched his name into the Magpies’ folklore with a four-goal haul that included two headers and a pinpoint long-range effort to cap off the scoring. Priced at 6.8 and now sitting joint-second in the league scoring charts with six goals, the Netherlands international – who had produced points against Chelsea and City in the previous two Gameweeks – will doubtless enjoy a huge increase on his 2% ownership ahead of an excellent quintet of match-ups (sun, STO, bou, LEI, cry).

Elsewhere in the Magpies’ midfield, Moussa Sissoko racked up three assists from his role on the right flank. Notwithstanding the impressive nature of his performance against the Canaries, Fantasy managers might adjudge Sissoko (5.7) to be priced a little steep, given that he tallied just four goals and three assists last term and has only mustered five attempts this season.

Up top, Ayoze Perez produced a goal and an assist for the second home match in succession. The 5.1-priced striker had achieved the same feat against Chelsea in Gameweek 7 and rewarded the 9,000 managers that drafted him in prior to the deadline. Aleksandar Mitrovic’s 7,000 new owners witnessed the Serbian frontman net his second goal in as many starts. Deployed in a 4-4-2 set-up, both forwards harbour the potential to be valuable low-priced pick-ups as Newcastle face off against two of the league’s bottom four defences (Sunderland and Bournemouth) over the next four Gameweeks.

Daryl Janmaat underlined his rich potential for attacking returns with the assist for Wijnaldum’s hat-trick strike. Having amassed two more shots on target (six) than any defender this term, the 4.9-priced right-back’s Fantasy worth is evident, but a lack of confidence in Newcastle’s clean sheet prospects has deterred many. Afforded a strong run of fixtures, there’s arguably no better time for prospective Janmaat investors to snap him up.

Redmond in the Goals Again

Norwich’s rearguard bent and then buckled under the force of Newcastle’s resurgent attack, extending their winless streak to four matches. Dieumerci Mbokani gave the visitors reason to be cheerful with an equaliser at the 20-minute mark, yet that proved to be a mere footnote among a compendium of defensive errors. Nonetheless, the Congolese frontman looks to have ousted Cameron Jerome as the Canaries lone striker – after scoring against Leicester last time out and netting over the international break, he was handed his first start yesterday. Mbokani could offer value at 5.7, although the Canaries upcoming fixtures (WBA, mci, SWA, che, ARS) are far from accommodating.

Nathan Redmond bagged his fourth goal of the campaign in his first start since Gameweek 6. Alex Neil has employed the England U21 star as an impact player of late but will surely now be inclined to hand Norwich’s top scorer a sustained run on the right flank, with his side now just three points clear of the drop zone. Pitched at 5.6, the 7%-owned Redmond could subsequently claw back some of the 70,000 owners he’s shed in the past four Gameweeks.

Martin Olsson was handed a start at left-back, as Neil pushed Robbie Brady into midfield. The 4.4-priced Swede chalked up two assists, drawing attention to his potential as a budget defensive option. That being said, few managers will be tempted to recruit from a Norwich backline that ranks top for goals conceded (20), shots inside the box conceded (90) and big chances conceded (24) this term.

    Morning All,

Having an absolute Mare just looking at my team...

    Butland (McCarthy)
    Kolorov - Dawson - Francis - (Richards) - (Ward)
    Hazard - Sanchez - Mahrez - Payet - (Fletcher)
    Pelle - Vardy - Sturridge

Basically I want to get rid of Hazard, Kolorov, Fletcher Richards, Ward and McCarthy....
I'm not sure about Sturridge either (he was a knee jerk to Klopp's appointment...)

    I would do the following:

A - Kolorov Hazard out - Debryne Bellerin in (-4)
B - Kolorov Hazard Richards Out - Debryne Bellerin "insert 8.1 price defender" in (-8)
    C - Something else amazing that I haven't spotted..

I've seen a lot of people suggesting Untied and Everton Defenders for upcoming fixtures but struggling to pick one out.

    Any suggestions appreciated!

I'd keep Kolarov. Monitor the Sturridge injury, if he remains injured, transfer only him out. If he is fit, Hazard to KDB is a good move, but I'd wait for one more week.

The last article suggested that there may be some doubt over Dier's place due to Dembele's performance at the weekend. Any substance to this? As an owner, I would hope there is a place in that team somewhere!

    Butland (Hennessey)

It's a pretty good team imo, I'm not convinced at all that Hazard is worth it this season but he'll tick along with points, he's too good a player not to get any returns.

Hazard could make a nice little placeholder for Aguero.. I was planning on getting Silva in to accompany KdB and Sanchez in my midfield but Silva went and got injured so now I'll be relying on my WC to get Kun back!

I've learned my lesson from last season though, not getting Kun in until he scores..

              Sakho -> Vardy looks profitable.

Scout Pick Community Champion Lottery – Gameweek 10

This season we have revamped how we involve the community in our Scout Picks. Once again we are on the look out for a champion to represent the community to take on the Scout Picks and win the chance of a prize.

The big difference this year is the launch of the Scout Pick Champion Lottery. If you want to take part please email your FFS name and FPL ID number to community@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk .

The champion will then be selected at random shortly after the deadline of 2pm tomorrow (Tuesday) and then be asked to submit their XI by Thursday 3pm by emailing me at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

We only need 11 picks and please be mindful of the 83m budget. There’s no captain in the picks either and please stick to a designated FPL formation, including no more than three players from one team. No captain or chips will be applied.

At the end of the season the champion who beats the picks by the highest margin will win a £100 Amazon voucher.

Champions will not be able to be selected as a champion for a second time. The champion will be revealed in a new midweek Scout Picks article on Wednesday, which will outline out initial thinking around the picks. Our and the champions picks will be revealed as usual the day before the first match of the Gameweek.

Should the community “Champion” fail to provide an initial or final Scout Pick selection, then an “Assistant Manager” chosen by us, will gain control of the selection to represent the community for the Gameweek in question.

Not that concerned. Darmian was substituted for tactical reasons the previous week but started this week. It shows that LVG is willing to change things around mid game, which is good management, but I think Rooney, Martial, Mata are still among the prefered XI. Can't see Lingaard permanently replacing him. I'm happy to stick personally.

Would you do this for free - Redmond out - Wijnaldum in. Is this too sideways/kneejerky. I'm thinking Norwich v WBA could be low scoring whereas Newcastle v Sunderland could have more goals. Will Newcastle keep this up. Fixtures are sweet for Newcastle whereas Norwich fixtures turn after this week. Should a strike while the irons hot & get Wijnaldum.

Also I read that 13 people triple captained Wijnaldum this week. How the feck do people come to this decision haha.

maybe you should wait another week and asses Wijnaldum's performance, Ruddy was very bad yesterday, most of the goals could have been stopped imo

The defenders didn't help him either. They allowed way too much room.

The ref didn't help either, he didn't outrageously disallow a single goal or give any false red cards to Newcastle. Clearly a bias against Norwich.

So what's the deal with Kompany now? Did Pellegrini "punish" him for playing for Belgium in the break, or was he not back soon enough? 6.2 is way too much money to have tied up in a defender if he's not nailed on imo.

Will he start next week? After the United match City's fixtures are alright, but I'm seriously considering punting on Kompany -> January. Someone please talk me out of it.

Who would you get in for the FT? I'm thinking of getting rid of Hazard for Eriksen?

              Butland
              Janmaat - Hangeland - Zouma
              Hazard - Payet - Sanchez - KDB - Mahrez
              Vardy - Pelle

              Subs : - Martial / Nyom / Targett / McCarthy

Wait till tomorrow and see if haz plays or not,Or else change to Ayew.Eriksen is kind of hit and miss,He goes blank during most of the matches...And start nyom ahead of hangeland leceister are very free scoring.
