    Play

    A) M.Richards (SWA)
    B) R.Martin (WBA)

...the bookies say Martin by far, but my gut says Richards after watching this weeks games.

      B. Could snag some attack points.
      Richards is pants.

Thanks! There's always the option of trading for toby, bellerin, Moreno, coleman, but I was thinking of saving this week... after a -12 hit.

      - Norwich are a shambles defensively but WBA don't have much attacking threat at all.
      - Despite Martin's ridiculous goalscoring form, I think Richards is a more likely goalscorer atm based on his aerial threat.
      - Villa were unlucky to concede at the weekend and Swansea were poor today.

I think Richards edges it for me.

Thanks, this is exacty what I've been thinking. The bookies see Norwich as a clear CS favorite though. And I think Norwich might consider playing two goalies and 9 defenders next week...

Usually I'd agree but he's not expected back until 7 Nov. I think at 6.2 we need to wait until he's starting and re-assess.

I find it frustrating that 2 or 3 goals conceded both yield a -1 to defenders..part of me feels that 1-2 should both just be a cleansheet gone, 3 be -1 and 4 be -2 (and so on).

I would imagine that the average conceded among those who conceded leans more to 2 than it does to 1..

do you mean giving defenders more attributes to score points on outside of the BPS system (like clearances/interceptions/etc)? if that was the case I wouldn't have a problem with yours at all..as it stands, it's so harsh to take away a point for a second goal conceded when all a defender can be expected to realistically score on in a given GW is cleansheet/bonus

Most teams concede 2 so they wouldn't get a penalty under your system. Would be near impossible to get crap defenders if another system was used. Would have to be BPS based rather than points for just being a defender.

I usually hesitate to do transfers ahead of remaining matches, but I pulled the trigger on Gomez > Bellerin as Gomez is going nowhere but down and Bellerin was going up. prepared to take a drop on my Kolarov sell value (bought at 5.5m GW1) but want to keep him as I believe he's first choice.

looking like this for next week:

    ........................Butland
    .......Darmian - Williams - Bellerin
Mahrez - De Bruyne - Sanchez - Payet
    .............Pelle - Martial - Vardy

    McCarthy; Sinclair, Richards, Kolarov

it's not about proving a point, it's about being tempered in my decision making. my hit-loving self probably would have sold Sanchez or Aguero before their hauls, but since I was happy to hold on and save transfers because I knew it would ease my team-shaping needs I was able to wait out their eventual big games.

It's ok, I think getting the correct United attacking player in early without breaking team up will be key in the next few weeks, got Martial myself but got doubts hos tye man tbh

I'm tempted by Mahrez > Herrera if the former isn't a starter and the latter becomes one.

Martial passes the eye test for me, which sometimes can be more worthwhile than the black and white numbers.

as I wrote to Alcapwnuk: "had 5 goals and 3 assists in his 9 games for club and country since joining United (before Everton) and could have scored 3 in the last two PL matches"

I'm also tempted by Mahrez > Herrera if the former isn't a starter and the latter becomes one.

        1. Jay_
          10 years, 9 months ago

I'm hoping it is Martial, getting Mata will mean losing a mid that's done no wrong or going 3-5-2 ahead of Aguero coming back, don't fancy Herrera purely because of gametime

well that's why I added the qualifier as Herrera is usually involved in all of our meaningful attacks.

    FPL Morality question..

Is it right that a player who is number 2 in the world should be allowed to enter a FFS league after 9 weeks and jump straight to number 2 in that league too? No doubt they have earned their score and they are perfectly within their right to do so, but what about the guy who was number 2 before, or the leader who now has a harder battle?

Not sour grapes, I'm not one of the leaders.. but do people think it's right? 😕

there's nothing on the line but 'pride' and 29 gameweeks to go.

if he's a good manager he would have been high up anyways and if not, he'll fall from #2 quickly enough.

FFS league it's ok, I think, as 20k + are in it. I'd be pretty peed off if it was a competitive mini-league with 10 or 12 in it.

It happened to me a few years back when a colleague invited another cooleague into our work ML when I was top. The guy was in another sister company abroad and came straight in at no.1. after about 12 GWs

I really kicked off about it (embarrassingly so) and the guy even offered to withdraw from the ML in a private e mail to me.

I felt guilty and said no, no, don't mind me. It turned out he was a complete casual and I beat him by about 200 points in the end. I felt a right numpty 😀

    Team: http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/221699/event-history/9/

So I'm thinking its time to get rid of Koralov (not convinced he'll be "nailed" when he returns from injury), and Cedric, as evidence would suggest his minutes will be limited... Questions are:

    A) Who should I ship first (or is there an argument for keeping either).

    B) Who for? Money is no object, but I am looking for value as will want Aguero back when he's fit. I'm thinking Alderweild is a good option, as Spurs seem pretty solid at the back, and he offers a bit of attacking threat. Obviously Dawson is an option, but I have Myhil (though there may be an argument for doubling). Others I'm thinking of are Smalling (good CS probability), Coleman (Everton have good fixtures from GW 11, but they seem unpredictable at the back) and Clyne (though I'm not sure how solid Liverpool will be with Klopp in charge)...

There's also Swansea, but they have only kept 2 CS!

    6m itb, 1FT...

Your thoughts, as always, are much appreciated!

If you don't trust Kolarov, sell him.
Next time Cedric will get to 60.42 and there won't be an issue.

He's always going to be a rotation risk with Clichy. if your prepared to keep Kol just make sure you have a good 4th defender as back up.

Just looked over you team. I think it's a little too early for a Liverpool defender and going Clyne is an over spend when you can get in their back four with Moreno for just 4.7. Am favouring the Coleman pick myself with the fixtures coming up. Smalling is also a very good pick. Am not too keen on Spurs back four just yet ..i just think there are better options out there 🙂 ...Can you take a price drop on Kolorov and save the transfer?
