Harry Kane’s serves a timely reminder of his goal-getting credentials with a treble as Tottenham run riot at Bournemouth. Sunderland are on the ascendancy under Sam Allardyce, whilst Everton’s eye-catching schedule looks set to bring their main men under close Fantasy attention.

The Player

A weekend hat-trick at Bournemouth finally saw Harry Kane reignite his Fantasy season after a stuttering start to 2015/16.

Elevated into the premium bracket on the back of 21 goals and seven assists in a last year’s breakthrough campaign, there were fears that Kane was suffering from second-season syndrome, that top-flight defences were beginning to figure him out. A summer playing for the England Under 21s ensured he was anything but fully refreshed as domestic matters got underway and, with just a single goal to his name in the opening nine Gameweeks, his price had understandably dropped from 9.5 to 9.2.

The underlying numbers suggested otherwise, though. Kane was getting the chances – he was just struggling to tuck them away. His treble against the Cherries will no doubt be a real morale boost and with the north London side now facing four home matches in six, beginning with a weekend visit from Villa, the scramble for his signature has seen over 60,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers bring him on board.

Granted, Kane does square up to the likes of Arsenal, West Ham, Chelsea and West Brom over the next six but, as we witnessed on numerous occasions last season, he’s fixture-proof when firing on all cylinders. With Mauricio Pochettino’s side now unbeaten in nine, including a 4-1 home thrashing of league leaders City, their main striker could well be set to reward us further as Spurs look to maintain their momentum and improve upon their current sixth place finish.

The Team

Sam Allardyce could not have wished for a better way to endear himself to the Sunderland faithful after a 3-0 win over Newcastle clinched a sixth successive victory over their bitter north east rivals.

Handed the reins after Dick Advocaat departed on the back of three points in the first eight Gameweeks, Big Sam lost narrowly at West Brom in his first match in charge before Sunday’s win over the Magpies at the Stadium of Light.

The weekend showing will certainly boost Sunderland’s confidence at both ends of the pitch going forward. Under Advocaat, they’d conceded 18 times and failed to keep a clean sheet – with Big Sam on board, that’s two goals against in as many matches. Costel Pantilimon served up ten points with his first shut out of the campaign, whilst Allardyce’s starting back-four all came in under 4.5 in FPL, highlighting their cut-price appeal.

In midfield, the 5.0-priced Yann M’Vila’s assist sees him lead the way, though Big Sam will also be looking to get the best out of wide men Jeremain Lens and Adam Johnson in his bid to beat the drop. Up top, Steven Fletcher – at just 5.0 – has two goals and an assist in three and could be another name to consider in the budget third striker slot if he can steer clear of injury.

Allardyce’s record of having never been relegated stands the Black Cats in good stead, then, and it’s clear his impact is already taking effect. The upcoming fixtures are mixed, though with a trip to Palace and home encounters against Stoke and Watford in the next six, the Wearsiders could be back on our radars before long.

The Talking Point

With a dire run of fixtures now finally behind them, Everton’s main men seem primed for investment as the schedule starts to ease significantly for the remainder of the calendar year.

From this weekend until Gameweek 19, the Toffees embark on a nine-match streak which sees them welcome Sunderland, Villa, Palace, Leicester and Stoke to Goodison and also pay visit to West Ham, Bournemouth, Norwich and Newcastle, boosting their prospects for points at both ends of the pitch.

Encouragingly for would-be suitors, Martinez’ main attackers have flourished in the first ten Gameweeks, despite going head-to-head with all of last year’s top eight over that period. The 8.4-priced Romelu Lukaku sits fourth amongst forwards, with five goals and a pair of assists, whilst Ross Barkley, at 6.8, offers a cheaper option in the centre of the park. Already, the latter’s three goals and as many assists have bettered his output from 2014/15, underlining his improving form as a viable Fantasy asset.

At the back, there’s no doubt that Phil Jagielka’s knee injury absence could prove detrimental to Everton’s chances of bringing in the clean sheets. The Toffees have managed three so far, though with just one shut out in the last six, the centre-half’s absence may persuade many to court caution here. Nonetheless, with Seamus Coleman racking up nine goals in the last two years and Leighton Baines edging towards a first-team return, there’s no shortage of options from back to front for those keen to invest in the Toffees’ chief protagonists as Martinez looks to take advantage of the schedule and steer his side further up the table.

How many genuine world class players do we think we have in the Premierleague?

And how many of those would make the world XI or even the XI's bench?

Yeah hence I think a couple would make the bench from the PL (Aguero, maybe 1 of Sanchez/Haz/Silva (the latter for me), DDG or Courtois).

            None would start though.

It really isn't. It's the reason why we are struggling so bad in CL, IMO.

Saying Barca/Real reject is harsh, Sanchez's crime was just not being as good as the best front 3 in the modern era. Real's list of "rejects" includes Robben, Sneijder, Makelele and Eto'o, so that's no indication of ability.

Off the top of my head:

      Neuer
      Lahm Ramos Pique Alaba/Alba

      Busquets Iniesta
      Neymar Messi Ronaldo

      Suarez

The formation is a mess, but something like that. If I was making a real team. I would have to drop one of the front players (Ronaldo or Neymar) for a central midfielder, possibly Verratti or Rakitic, but that's not as fun!

Ahh see below! Iniesta probably shouldn't be in there on form, but he's potentially my favourite player since Ronaldinho (bar Messi), so I have to crowbar him in.

I think it just shows how difficult it is to assess the quality of a league based on world class players, because they are so heavily concentrated within 3 teams in Europe. It's easy to say "all the world class players are in La Liga, so it's the best league", but they're all at 2 clubs!

If I was making a real team, as in a team to play tomorrow, I'd ditch Ronaldo and just play the Barcelona attackers (better chemistry, know each other's games, not as greedy...)

To be quite honest i rate high as low as possible. Every single ball goes back or sideways, last time he played a ball forward must be in u15. I absolutely despise him as a player

Blimey! Well the forward pass thing isn't true, I believe 70-75% of his passes are forwards, he's the best in the world at breaking down an attack and then building one in the next move. His positioning and passing ability, and speed of thought/vision, are remarkable. This is a good article on him:

      Neuer

Probably wrong but a base to build on

In my eyes world class means you are one of the top two or three players in the world in your position.

      Aguero
      Sanchez
      Hazard (at his best)
      DDG
      Silva
      Courtais
      Koscielny
Komapny (if he can regain form of a few seasons ago)
Matic (If he can regain form from last season)

On the last couple of seasons KDB has definitely been up there, there's no point including Ronaldo and Messi in this debate their alien class players so minus those two who would be your best 11? Up until this year I would've had ivanovic as my rb all day long to. We say pique and ramos but barca are conceding a lot this year.
      Neuer
      Lahm kompany silva alaba
      Biscuits
      KDB ozil
      Muller suarez(aguero lew) neymar
But this easy to put some Pl players without detracting from the quality of the team and depends on form, on current form vardy should be in it! Who gives more to the team bale or ozil? It's a bigger picture that's why Madrid don't win everything to focused on the brand and individual players rather than the big picture. Imo RM would be a better team if they had kept ozil

I'm tempted to go top heavy and have a front 8 of:

              Sanchez, Payet, KDB, Mane, Mahrez
              Vardy, Pelle, Kane

Wouldn't be as flexible when Aguero comes back but all I'd need would be 2 free transfers no? 🙂

                Lukaku, Bony, Ighalo

Try now, I've set the filters to global. Yeah, it would be a nightmare deciding who to bench which would no doubt lead to frustration. Mahrez's output has significantly reduced though so I wouldn't mind having him on the bench most games. Ighalo is at a great price to enable Kun when he comes back.

                  Food for thought 😕

at what stage could he be classed as nailed? Only "nailed" Liverpool attacker is Coutinho imo. Sturridge = injured, Benteke will probably play a high % of games but could be at risk when Sturridge comes back to full fitness, Lallana will be heavily rotated. Origi is useless.

          Same.

If I had Dawson I'd be looking to get rid - it's Myhill or nothing at the moment as their fixtuers turn sour (plus there are much BETTER options than WBA atm with baps and goal threat etc.).

Jones looks a good bet - I'm looking at VVD and Toby personally.

    Suggestions folks ?

    Hart
    Kolarov Clyne Azpi
    Sanchez KdB Payet Ozil
    Pelle Vardy Ighalo

    Schmichel Wanyama Francis Baker
    £1.1m ITB
    0 FT..WC available

    1. Is the defence needs fixing ?
    2. Whats the right time to wildcard

    Replies appreciated..

Good team. I'd swap Azpi to Bellerin (since Arsenal's defense obviously way better than Chelsea this season). There's no right time for a wildcard, just when you see a lot of your players not performing well and you need a drastic change in your team you use it.

      Remove Azpi....Too expensive at 6.0
Other than that team looks good

WC team finished, cheers to all for the advice!

Doing Vardy ----> Pelle when he double rises so I can have an extra 0.1

Hopefully there won't be any upsets/ injuries in the cup!

I'd recommend someone else instead of Begovic and VVD instead of Cedric. Otherwise good.

P.S Benteke team news was a right stinker. At least he got more than Sanchez(!)

Yeah I was fuming when I saw him on the bench 🙁 was delighted with the goal and then I saw 3 BPs too so I couldn't really complain considering Vardy and Sanchez got less

I would personally keep vardy but can see reasoning for picking those three strikers. Bony could become Kane in a couple of weeks.

I presume you'll do kolarov > bellerin in a couple weeks too. At this stage no way I'd create a WC team without bellerin tbh.

        2 FTs and a hit

Bony, Pelle, Jones ----> Aguero, Bojan, 4.5 DEF

Stoke fixture's improve when Aguero is back so it should be okay hopefully

    Hennessey
    Monreal | Cédric | Janmaat
Sánchez | Hazard | De Bruyne | Mané
    Lukaku (c) | Pellè | Ighalo

    a) Save (0FT).
    b) Lose Hazard (1FT).
    c) Lose Hazard, get Kane (c) (-4).

You have to play 4-3-3 really.....

      Messi - Suarez - Ronaldo

Unless we're playing 3 at the back 🙂

If you are World Best XI, you can pretty much play with just 1 or 2 at the back.

Heck even Neuer will play out of position. 😀

Which 2 defenders to play out of the below? Thinking first 2.

    Bellerin (swa)

    Evans (LEI)

Bony sucks. He's not a target man at city like Aguero, they just use him to create space for other players, mainly Sterling and KDB.
Vardy on fire, like who doesn't have Vardy?
Kane still needs to prove himself this season, a hattrick against a poor bournmouth and one of the goals from a penalty is not really that impressive for me, even the other goals.
Pelle hmmm I don't know how to describe him, another Giroud probably?
Lukaku is Martinez main man, he never takes him out and he's envolved in most of Everton's attack. They count on him a lot in the team.
