A trio of new protagonists toppled off the Suspension Tightrope over the weekend’s ten fixtures. Palace wide man Wilfried Zaha, West Brom midfielder Claudio Yacob and Villa defender Ciaran Clark were the guilty parties, with all three set to miss Gameweek 15 as their clubs do not have midweek Capital One Cup fixtures to bail them out.

Zaha was booked for simulation just three minutes before scoring his first goal since the opening day of the season – he now misses the upcoming trip to Everton a week tomorrow. Yacob earned an 81st-minute yellow during the Baggies’ draw at West Ham, whilst Clark finally succumbed to the high wire with a fifth booking, more than two months after collecting a fourth yellow card in the Capital One Cup third round. The Villa centre-half was the second player in the top-flight to reach four cautions but had been hampered by fitness and selection issues ever since. He’s been named in all three of Remi Garde’s starting XIs, though, and will now miss the upcoming visit to Southampton.

Ryan Shawcross also received a one-match ban. The Stoke skipper collected two yellows in a five-minute spell either side of half-time for fouls on Steven Fletcher and Duncan Watmore as Mark Hughes’ men fell to a 2-0 defeat at Sunderland. He’ll miss the Capital One Cup Quarter Final against Sheffield Wednesday in midweek but will be available for next week’s tough home encounter with Man City.

Post-match, Hughes slammed the decision to send his captain packing as Stoke lost for just the second time since Gameweek 5:

“I think the referee didn’t show any common sense really and should have given Ryan the benefit of the doubt. Ryan feels he got a nick on the ball before the lads gone down so I’m disappointed from that point of view. The referee, on the day, didn’t perform as I’ve seen him perform before; unfortunately he got the awarding of the free kick that led to their first goal wrong as well. Those are the key moments in the game that change it and unfortunately they were negative for us.

Elsewhere in the same match, Erik Pieters joined Alex Tettey at the top of the Tightrope charts with his sixth booking – no Premier League player has more this season.

There were five new additions to this week’s Tightrope. Bournemouth’s Dan Gosling joined team-mate Matt Ritchie to double the number of Cherries on the wire. Stoke’s Charlie Adam picking up a fourth yellow for a crunching challenge on Lee Cattermole at the Stadium of Light, whilst Watford midfielder Etienne Capoue also saw yellow in yesterday’s fixtures.

Spurs defensive duo Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Walker joined them today, meaning that 18 players now sit just one caution shy of a single-match suspension. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have now received 33 bookings in the league this season – that’s more than any other side, with Liverpool (32) and West Brom (30) next in line. In the case of the first two in particular, their penchant for pressing opponents is clearly incurring the referees’ wrath.

Seven players will return from bans in time for Gameweek 15. Graziano Pelle, Lucas, Jonjo Shelvey, Chris Brunt, Robert Huth, Mark Noble and Dele Alli are available once again after falling off last week’s Tightrope, whilst James Collins comes back into contention for West Ham, having sat out a three-match ban.

Apart from the first 30 minutes City were very average Southampton could've easily got a draw

Rather than City being average, it was Southampton who were absolutely poor. Very bad 30 minutes for a team playing against Man City.

Is Kun is ruled out, I'm kinda tempted by Aguero + Wijnaldum > Kane + Hazard for an 8pt hit. Hmmm.

I thought he looked good, was denied a great goal by a brilliant save. If that goes in, he gets a double figure haul, and with the immediate fixtures everyone would be trying to get him in imo...

It's only a consideration. Chelsea look like they're slowly improving match by match, and Hazard is the most explosive of those midfield options to cover the fixtures if they do indeed capitalise.

          Check out comparison tables.

Hazard last 2 weeks vs hazard season averages.

He's starting to get in the right areas and receive the ball in threatening positions.

It just comes down to whether you think he's a good player or overrated.

Obviously this is my opinion. Not necessarily correct!

Not really. I do think he's a good player but until he and Chelsea shown significant signs of improvement there's no real reason to take a punt on him. Especially when there are a few in form mids playing for teams with fewer problems who also have nice fixtures ahead.

I just rewatched the last 10 mins of BOUvsEVE game and didn't realize how Everton fans were responsible for extending the game past the 5' min of injury time by obnoxiously celebrating on the field.

Barkley scored exactly at 94:45. If they stay put, the refs blows the final whistle at kickoff.

It shouldn't matter. Assuming he scored at 94:45 with minimum stoppages in injury time, the referee should still blow the whistle after the next 15 seconds of play, right?

Up to his discretion I believe.

I'm always a bit skeptical about who really manages the injury time. Not sure where they got 5' min of added time in the first place. There was only one minor injury to Arter in the 2nd half.

Not sure I've ever seen anything like that before!

Hey gents, thoughts on this lot ? what to do ?

    Butland - (McCarthy)
Kolarov - Moreno -Wollscheid - (Richards - Targett)
    KDB - Ozil - Mahrez - Sanchez - (Wanyama)
    Kane - Lukaku - Vardy

    1FT - 2.9ITB
Address Sanchez injury straight away ? Improve 5th mid ? Improve defence ?
whats the most profitable play long term ?

i previously stated that having KDB i dont want to double up with silva or any other city mid
Silva is much more affective when kun is 100% fit - ROI with silva now is poor considering all the better options

having kaku should i really double up on barkley ?
isnt deulefeu more of a differential now that so many people have Barkley ?
I actually had a slight debate with Doorsa who demonstrated using his magic tables how barkley is a much better player than deulefeu.

Barkley puts himself in the right positions but i feel like deulefeu provokes the defence much more is just more of a threat (Stats obviously don't back this up unfortunately)

I really don't see a problem with a double up of Everton attack with the way they are playing. I have the same midfield as yours and its between Coutinho and Barkley for me for Sanchez replacement. I am going with Coutinho as I really want a Liverpool attacker for those fixtures, but at this stage I wouldn't mind getting Barkley either, if I had to.

As for Deulefeu vs Barkley, I would easily opt for Barkley, feel his goal potential is much higher.

Do you think cout vs barkley form and fixtures on both of them why would u pick cout ?
                8.4 price tag vs 7.1
don t you fell like we missed the train on barkley ? 32 points in his last two games - can t maintain this streak a la vardy surely ?

Wenger when asked if Alexis’ injury is serious…

"He says it is a kick on his hamstring. I fear the reality is worse than that."

Coming from the same guy who usually says that a season threatening injury will be 'just a few days' I think we can safely say we won't be seeing Alexis for a good few weeks

Yes. Best value IMO. I trust City attack, don't mind a double up at all.

In fact, I'm quite optimistic they will get even better with both of them on the field.

courtois back doesn't mean he walks straight into the starting eleven. begovic had his best game for chelsea at spurs. solid, with good reaction saves, and looking sharp.

courtois has been out of action for months, I would keep him on the bench if I was Jose, and bring him in only if begovic is underperforming

    Butland --- (DDG)
Bellerin --- Moreno --- Alder --- (Wolly, Evans)
KDB --- Ozil --- Mahrez --- Bolasie (Hoola)
    Kane --- Aguero --- Vardy

They are becoming very Leicester like in that they're pretty much all out attack although they play in different ways. Upgrade hoola to one of the Everton mids? And rotate

Hazard is overpriced and isn't worth that money even when on form imo let alone off form and missing penalties. That said i am getting him in if sanchez is out for more than a week. Sometimes it's just as simple as easy fixtures should equal points.

Never been a stats man, it bases around 10% of my decision. I watched Chelsea vs spurs and liked what i saw. With Costa's little tantrum that'll mean he's less likely to get back in too

Have Hennessy as your 4.0 keeper as he plays. Wait on Aguero news, if injured change to Kane. That will give you funds to strengthen defence.

Also I'd have KDB instead of Silva but opinions are probably divided there
