We take our regular trip to the Weekly Shop this evening, assessing the player lists of our partner games to pinpoint the likely targets that will make up our weekend lineups.

The player analysis is split into two sections: I’ll break down the key targets that no squad can do without in “Better Buys”, before seeking out those one-shot “Poundstretcher” prospects that can provide us points, whilst freeing up funds.

For this week’s selection, we’re scanning the players lists in our two partner games – FantasyBet and Premier Punt.

Better Buys

West Ham’s lengthy injury list looks good news for Stoke’s prospects ahead of their head-to-head at Upton Park this weekend. With Manuel Lanzini joining Dimitri Payet and Diafra Sakho on the sidelines, the Potters will be optimistic of registering a fifth clean sheets in six away matches. Jack Butland (FantasyBet 4.5m, PremierPunt 6.7m) is averaging over four saves per appearance on the road and looks poised to earn the points once again.

Newcastle have scored the fewest goals (three) on the road this campaign and roll up to White Hart Lane, where Spurs boast the second-best home defence in the top-flight. A goal, an assist and five bonus points over the last three Gameweeks has launched Toby Alderweireld (FantasyBet 5m, PremierPunt 8.2m) to second in the overall defenders leaderboard, just two points behind Chris Smalling (FantasyBet 6.5m, PremierPunt 9m).

After the Tuesday night Champions League victory, Kevin de Bruyne (FantasyBet 10m, PremierPunt 10.1m) has now reached twenty appearances for Manchester City, scoring nine goals and serving up as many assists over a bright start that has confirmed his Fantasy pedigree. The Belgian scored the opener and created the following two goals in the 3-1 win over Southampton in City’s previous home match and, with Sergio Aguero potentially missing once again, he looks the safe option as they welcome managerless Swansea side to the Etihad.

Harry Kane (FantasyBet 9.5m, PremierPunt 13.6m) has not scored in the last two but a home tie against a defensive Chelsea side and a trip to the Hawthorns were not fixtures that promised much. Prior to those two blanks, the frontman scored seven goals in four matches and the visit of a Newcastle outfit that has conceded 14 times in their last four away matches provides a chance to return to form.

Poundstretchers

Leicester have been quietly improving at the back in recent weeks on their march to the top of the table. Kasper Schmeichel (FantasyBet 4.5m, PremierPunt 6.8m) now has three clean sheets in six matches and will not be fazed by the visit of a disjointed Chelsea team that have scored a single goal over the last four Gameweeks.

Sunderland’s upturn in form, with two wins and a pair of clean sheets in the last three Gameweeks, is partly down to Sam Allardyce’s move to a three-man backline. The new system has allowed Patrick van Aanholt (FantasyBet 5m, PremierPunt 7.7m) to operate as a wing-back and serve up a goal and assist in four appearances under the new manager, suggesting he could still earn attacking points should in-form visitors Watford find the net.

We retain our faith in Alberto Moreno (FantasyBet 5m, PremierPunt 7.7m) and Dele Alli (FantasyBet 5m, PremierPunt 7.8m) after selecting both as budget options last week. The former was unlucky to have a goal wrongfully disallowed at Newcastle, while Alli netted from the number ten position in Spurs’ draw at the Hawthorns. Both remain as cheap enablers and, with home fixtures against West Brom and Newcastle respectively, could get amongst the points this weekend.

Stoke’s impressive season was lacking in goal threat but in Marko Arnautovic (FantasyBet 6m, PremierPunt 8.5m forward) and Xherdan Shaqiri (FantasyBet 7m, PremierPunt 7.8m) they have a burgeoning partnership of creative talent that provided two quality first half strikes against Man City. A trip to West Ham, who have kept a single clean sheet in seven at Upton Park, offers the duo an opportunity to link up effectively once again. A brace for Arnautovic meant the Austrian now has five goals and two assists, whilst Shaqiri’s pair of assists suggests the Swiss international is finally settling at the Britannia.

Rather than repeat our praise of Odion Ighalo (FantasyBet 5m, PremierPunt 7.5m) and Troy Deeney (FantasyBet 5.5m, PremierPunt 7.5m) every week, we’re going to propose a couple of inexpensive forward differentials. Arouna Kone (FantasyBet 5m, PremierPunt 7.6m) may be overshadowed by the new-found consistency of Romelu Lukaku (FantasyBet 8m, PremierPunt 11.6m) but the Ivorian is capable of substantial scores, as evidenced by his 20-point haul at home to Sunderland in Gameweek 11. An explosive forward with five goals and four assists to his name, he looks worth considering at those prices as the Toffees head to Norwich.

Crystal Palace’s strikers are still yet to score this campaign but Connor Wickham (FantasyBet 6m, PremierPunt 6.9m) could soon break that duck after recently returning from injury. The summer signing has now started the last three and his pair of assists in the previous home clash indicates his improvement ahead of the visit of a Southampton side that have conceded 10 times in their last three league and cup matches.

These are the contenders for my weekly contest lineups heading into the weekend. I’ll return on Friday with a further assessment of this week’s partner games – FantasyBet and Premier Punt, as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

    My Mids and Fwd:

Coutinho (WBA) -- Mane (cry) -- Bolasie (SOU) -- Hazard (lei) -- Fletcher (liv)

Ighalo (sun) -- Lukaku (nor) -- Kane (NEW)

Should I just save my FT this week and go without a single Man City or Arsenal Mid?

Or make a change to get most probably Silva in?

I can't see why Mane would now suddenly explode. He couldn't against Villa, and as CP just showed vs Everton, they are very good indeed.

Tottenham being an Away Game for Newcastle also makes it in favor of Kane

Anyone know a bit about WBA defence? Looking to do Targett to Olsson next week. Hes played the last 3. Seemed to start the season, miss out 7 or so games and now is back. Was he injured? Any info appreciated. 4.3 seems a freaking bargain.

I had Olsson. Then he lost his place to Evans. Now he only plays is someone is injured, which Evans is quite a lot.

Thanks...been thinking in a similar way earlier but he just seems to get points, so started to reconsider him. And Norwich plus Newcastle in the next three, could be great wins for Everton...and Barkley has high ownership as well.

You could be right about getting Barkers now and Couts later when he has played a few mins.

That is the question though, he *should* be back. Also, what kind of form will he be in when he does? I've learned my lesson on not getting injured players back the first gw they are declared fit. Aguero taught me that. Sturridge taught it to others. What is Coutinho's track record on returning from injury?

didn't watch but he had a shot hit the post, had an assist, and should have had a second but Costa missed the 1 on 1, which resulted in the own goal.

also created 5 chances vs Bournemouth

Yeah, 5 KP(same as Ozil vs Sun) vs Bourn with 2 SoT.

I just read the text commentary on their win vs Porto and sounds like he might be edging closer to what we are used to from him. Hit post, header saved, 1 assist and could have had another.

Any reason why GK ownership is

    Cech 5.7 32.9% - 64 points
    Hart 5.6 17.0% - 54 points (62 if he played all games)
    deGea 5.7 13.5% - 52 points (70 if he played all games)

Especially when United has very you players you'd otherwise want to own. Is it due to a lot of dead teams owning Cech?

I don't think it is just dead teams. It seems like most of the top 1k and top 10k have Cech. I saw some numbers in another thread about the percentage ownership of the top FPL players.

He's mint as CM. I've spoken to 4 of my mates this week asking the Theo vs. Rambo question. They all recommend Rambo. He's like Lampard/Gerrard when playing centrally.

Not persuaded by Firmino at all. Prefer Coutinho (when fit). Perhaps I need to watch Firminio play a bit more. I bought Ramsey as soon as I saw him play his first game back. He is *mint* as you say!

So, I've not heard anyone comment on last night yet. I realise he got one assist but did he look "imminent" for more FPL returns?

I'm in the same boat, but considering a hit to make the same move.

I can wait for the Europa line-up of Liverpool, but I've lost faith in my Firmino punt, and I reckon Ramsey could be a great differential

Wenger - "“Aaron is a player who creates a high number of chances when he plays through the middle and his expected goals when he plays through the middle is quite high, one of the highest in the Premier League. So I’m not surprised when he plays through the middle he’s always attracted [to the ball]. He could have scored three today. That’s why he was so happy when he scored. In the first half he had a back pass from Nacho when he could have scored, after that he hit the goalkeeper when he could have scored, and then he did.”"

Ramsey - "“Injuries like these happen in football. I wish Santi a speedy recovery, and Francis as well, we have been hit hard by injuries this season but it gives players the opportunities to take. I have made no secret that I prefer to play in the middle and hopefully now I can stay there. My performance today was good and hopefully I can keep building on that now to play where I prefer to play. I feel a lot more comfortable [in midfield] and it suits my game a lot better. I can time my runs into the box and get on to the end of things. On another day I could have had two or three goals but I’m happy just to score the one.”

Don't think he's in the Studge/Kun category. Santi getting injured has made him a more viable choice. Arsenal don't have anyone else playing central. His best returns come when central. Its calling out to me. Over the more explosive Theo.

Gerrard - “His qualities are all in the middle, for me, when he’s in that form, he’s the best attacking midfielder in the Premier League, so you’ve got to play your best players where they want to be, and I’m sure that’s in the middle.”

I must admit Ramsey is the superior choice. But I own Walcott already, so I'm going to have to die by that sword. He will only get better as his fitness improves and we all know what damage Wally can do, especially those that captained for that tasty 52pts.

I held on to him last week and it worked out extremely well for me. I just wish we could know when he will return

How would this look for a 352

    Butland
    Alderweireld Moreno Koscielny
    Ramsey Walcott Coutinho Silva KDB
    Kane Lukaku

    Hennessey Ighalo Ward Simpson

Lethal. But let's face it, you're not benching any of those players for Ighalo at any stage

Why not bench him when they have tougher fixtures?

I currently have Aguero taking up my bench anyway, tempted to get rid and play something like this.

Well I would bench Coutinho/Silva and play Igloo this week

This is a few hits off my current team haha, tempted to get rid kun. So many good mids around I feel now playing 5 could be worth it

Also Hazardous, would you recommend playing king this week? I currently have him as my 5th mid.

Immense. That's the kind of line up I'm heading toward from next week (after iggy has played this last favourable fixture)
But I'd have Mahrez over Coutinho

I think you are right to have 8 top draw attackers over the Xmas period.
The captain choice will always be dodgy when Haz, Kun, Sanchez Studge injured or not firing. I have 108 mil ATM and find it hard to spend but when the 4 I mention start to fire I think I can move up the rankings and have less armband and benching headaches.

I like it. Its a really solid squad and I think its the perfect time of the year to have a strong front 8

Mane + Firmino -> pick two of: Mahrez, Couthino & Hazard. For Christmas period.

    Rest of front:

    Alli - KDB - Ozil - Firmino* - Mane*
    Vardy - Lukaku - Kane

When is the tightrope extended from 5 to 10 yellow cards? I'm looking at Gosling as 5th mid, but not sure how long he has to avoid his 5th booking without being suspended?
