I guess the general rule depends on the length of his absence and the price you paid for him.

Depends on your view of Aguero. Playing Ali against Norwich is a fine alternative if Vardy is ruled out. But if you rate Aguero and eventually want him, even a goal in the next 2 GW will see his prise rise quick.
