New Year, new aspirations, same old voices.

The first ScoutCast of 2016 is brimming with determined talk of banishing old habits which, in all honesty, will likely evaporate in the weeks to come. That’s particularly true of my no-Aguero policy, which feels even more flimsy after taking in the musings of Jonty and Andy in this episode.

Man City’s hitman and faltering away form comes under the microscope via another batch of community questions, along with an assessment of Dele Alli, Kane without Dembele and the allure of the French fancy that is Dimitri Payet.

We rinse through that little lot, before looking ahead to the floodlit excitement that awaits us in Gameweek 21.

    Results/Conclusion:

    These numbers are consistent with last season (42% home wins)

    On average we should expect to see 4 home wins, 3 away wins and 3 ties per GW

    Other Fun Facts:

    50-50 home/away split out of the 30 times a game has ended 2-1 this season.
    In other words, 15 favored the home team (2-1) and 15 favored the away team (1-2)

    During the last 3 GW the home team has won 15/30 times.

    This may or may not be a sign of progression towards the mean (to balance the away wins from earlier in the season) or perhaps we should expect a heavier dose of away wins in the upcoming weeks.

    The percentages are peculiarly even thus far.
    They always find a way, don't they?

    2 FT and 6.7 ITB. No idea what to do.
    Keeping the likes of Moreno and Stoke players for potential DGW. Keeping Walcott as Sanchez continues to be out and Arsenal are vs leaky Liverpool.
    My front three I'm more than happy with. If anything, it'd be Lukaku to Costa perhaps.
    Any ideas?

      I'd probably sell Bellerin - for Kos or Monreal if you're still keen to retain an Arsenal defender. (Also Bellerin owner - I've have been disappointed with his lack of assists and bonuses)

          Ah, didn't realise that. Perhaps not Myhill (although he does cover Stoke's 3 toughies and then Butland should last you till the 2nd WC. Plenty of other good options in goal also (Fabianski, Courtois, Gomez etc)

      I think just the first one. In a similar boat myself. If anything I'd fancy Wally away on the counter more than Ozil this week. If ditching Wally what about a short term punt on a City mid or Oscar/Siggy - they have a good couple of fixtures

        Agree about hits, but having a "big" 5th midfielder is not a bad problem. Yes you have a benching dilemma but it also gives you an option that you didn't have otherwise. If you bench someone who scores well then at least you'll get the likely rise in price. With all these cheap forwards doing so well then I think a good 5th midfielder is a good idea for when you play bench boost. Also, winter looks like arriving soon with the possibility of DGWs.

          Fair point. I just think with so many good options up front, a cheap playing fifth midfielder is the way to go (several at Bournmouth).
          I'll play 3 4 3 most weeks.

        Don't you think that Ivan will outscore Monreal in the next 5 or 6 by 4 points at least ?

        Arsenal's fixture doesn't look particularly good, besides Monreal does not have any real goal threat.

          Siggy's a good option, I went for Payet over both Siggy and Alli but I can understand why people are going for them.
