Just minutes after the final whistle blew on Gameweek 21, Jonty, Andy and myself braved the airwaves to pick the bones out of our meagre midweek tallies.

Brought back down to earth by a decidedly lacklustre floodlit affair, we rouse ourselves to debate the Aguero armband, the rapidly increasing speed of the Payet bandwagon and the theories behind the stuttering United backline.

We even make our dedication to the departed David Bowie, before quickly ushering out our disappointment of the Gameweek just past by previewing the one that lies ahead.

Kane the obvious captain choice this week but I am inclined to go with Mahrez. Away to Villa and the man is due

Its a tough call but ultimately Villa are a LOT worse than Sunderland who can be half decent defensively

Would really appreciate some ideas on this lot. Currently contemplating selling Ward for Simpson of even Davies.

    2 FTs and 0.6 ITB.

    Butland
    Bellerin - Ward - Ogbonna
    Silva - Ozil - Payet - Mahrez
    Lukaku - Kane - Aguero

    Hennessey ; Alli - Moreno - Dawson

    1. Eden Hazardous

First of all , I wouldn't bench Alli against Sunderland

Maybe Ward > Targett if that fits into your rotation?

Not sure if Davies is nailed on. Simpson is a good option. Or Daniels if can get him?

      1. Venom Snake
        10 years, 9 months ago

I don't think he is nailed, but he's currently keeping Rose out of the team and doing a decent job. 4 playable defenders to cover him, I think he may be worth the punt

    @ Hazardous

In last 3 gws Lamela and Alli average position as been more advanced than Kane's position.

DM with pens if you ask me. Altough Dembele back should change it

just saw your reply on last page

    2. Eden Hazardous
      10 years, 9 months ago

That's not DM..its a false 9 position like Gru , Rooney and many other strikers...they still score goals...

      1. S.Kuqi
        10 years, 9 months ago

Him playing DM is more like joke 😉

        1. Eden Hazardous
          10 years, 9 months ago

I don't have La Liga data but just from seeing the matches I think Messi also plays false 9

    3. Eden Hazardous
      10 years, 9 months ago

Also , when looking at average positions , its good to be further forward but is also important to be central as shots have higher conversion rate from central areas + in wide areas you cross the ball a lot

Kane is the more central than Alli/Lamela

      1. Prøphet
        10 years, 9 months ago

I replied on last page. Position not really what matters when it comes to Dembele / Kane relationship. Its where he receives the passes to be threatening. He comes way to deep to get a pass now, while with dembele his position is the same i would say but the passes received are in the dangerous areas. Where big difference and a thing to look at.

        1. Eden Hazardous
          10 years, 9 months ago

I am not having it....it doesn't matter where he gets his passes...it matters where he shoots from.....Kane has been posting good numbers with/without Dembele

Also , Kane has played only 3 matches without Dembele in the last 10...3 matches is a very small sample size

Lastly , it does not matter having this discussion as Dembele will start this GW

          1. AK ⭐
            10 years, 9 months ago

Woah, go easy on your tone there mate. You sound a bit rude. 🙂

It does matter where he is getting the passes tbh. If he gets them deep, he has to dictate the play from the center, whereas if he got them further forward, one touch and he could take a shot away.

            1. Prøphet
              10 years, 9 months ago

Sorry but it really gets on my nerves that Kane is being equated to Dembele....

Correlation does not equal to causation....

Also , is there any concrete evidence other than watching the games that Kane gets his passes deeper when Dembele is not playing?

              1. Ziro Becomes One
                10 years, 9 months ago

Seems you have not watched the matches.

                Watching matches >> Stats

                1. Eden Hazardous
                  10 years, 9 months ago

I have watched the matches and Kane creats a lot of his chances by his excellent movement which is not dependent on Dembele but rather on Eriksen/Lamela

                  1. Ziro Becomes One
                    10 years, 9 months ago

My opinion is that irrespective of Dembele/Alli/Lamela, the way Kane is playing right now is the Rooney-type where he is everywhere from DM to Striker even in a single match.

He is still getting decent chances, but for a premium striker, we want him to be receiving 4-5 good chances per match rather than 0 or 1.

I am an owner btw, and in spite of Dembele/Alli/Lamela will hold Kane through the nice run in spite of his price drops fwiw

              2. AK ⭐
                10 years, 9 months ago

He does drop deep. Almost where Rooney used to drop while playing behind RvP and Welbeck a lot of times.

Watching games and determining the positions through your eyes over stats has always been preferred by me and most on here. I agree I am someone who loves stats, but then again, stats could be deceiving. 😉

No one argues he doesnt drop without dembele. Who said that is wrong, i am saying he doesnt drop as much and the passes he receives are closer to goal most of the times and in more dangerous positions.

              3. Prøphet
                10 years, 9 months ago

It can get on your nerves, but doesnt mean you are right. Nor me.
No one says that Kane = Dembele. The argument is that he is more threatening with him in the team. Simple argument really.

Watching games is the biggest argument? Really not sure what else would you want? Stats? Well Mignolet is the best GK in 2015 when you look at CS he kept, does it make it true? Stats can be misleading as i said numerous times.

                1. Eden Hazardous
                  10 years, 9 months ago

If the sample size was bigger , it would be worth investigating into but 3-4 matches is hardly a sample size

                  1. Prøphet
                    10 years, 9 months ago

Its still 30% of the matches. Not bad if you put it that way. Way bigger than some sample sizes in bigger case studies. Most take less than 5% to establish trends in some areas when it comes to TV shows (insert whatever here) and what not and see how people react.

                    1. Eden Hazardous
                      10 years, 9 months ago

Dembele helps in defense > attack tranisitions and I don't get how does it impact Kane's performances...Spurs as a whole play better with Dembele

Anyway , you have your opinion , I have mine...lets leave at that

                  2. AK ⭐
                    10 years, 9 months ago

Thing is Kane's position changes too much with Dembele and without Dembele. It's easy to spot that Kane gets handed the role to drop deep when he is not on field. I thught about it the same way, about sample size in the first game it happened. But then after reading a few fans' takes and watching a couple of games, the evidence is there.

          2. Prøphet
            10 years, 9 months ago

It absolutely matters where he gets the ball honestly. If he gets it deeper means he lays it off or plays it forward to Lamela or Alli for example. We work with what we have. His shots came outside of the box and not as threatening, bar that post he hit.

Well its a decent enough sample size with the improved Dembele from last season.

I do believe it affects him and they play more to him and start attacks differently, but to each its own.

Davies at 4.1 worth a punt if I have 4 other defenders who can cover?

Not for me, I used to do this but it only limits options going forward. Davies will get rotated and one of your defenders would go out of form or get rotated and you'll be cursing your backline.

I still can't believe I haven't owned any Everton players all season. What's wrong with me? 😆

Play 2 out of the following 5.

    Simpson (avl)
    Alderweireld (SUN)
    Bellerin (stk)
    Moreno (MUN)
    Dawson (sot)

Woah. I was expecting Simpson's name tbh.

Why Bellerin though? Stoke away has always been a tough fixture for the big sides.

      1. Sasquatch Slayer
        10 years, 9 months ago

Arsenal a better defensive unit than Leicester and Bellerin could even sneak in attacking returns

        1. ILOVEBAPS
          10 years, 9 months ago

Not sure they are a better defensive unit actually. Especially recently!
Can't remember the last time Bellers got me any attack points either.
Bugger saved them for the Cup

      2. Puyol Pants Up
        10 years, 9 months ago

        It's 50/50 imo.

But Bellerin's attacking threat wins it for me.

      3. Eden Hazardous
        10 years, 9 months ago

For me personally , Simpson has very low chance of attacking returns and a lower BAPS potential than Bellers

        Ideally , play all 3

  24. Puyol Pants Up

For some reason I never thought about doubling up on spurs defenders.

    DDG/Nyom ----> Lloris/Aldy worth a FT? Already have Walker.

    1. Graceless Goof
      10 years, 9 months ago

A lot of eggs in the same basket though?

      1. Graceless Goof
        10 years, 9 months ago

Toby has proven to attain points at both ends, thus reducing his clean sheet dependability. Lloris not so much.

        1. Puyol Pants Up
          10 years, 9 months ago

Toby has been lucky in getting his assists imo.

Only 2 eggs? Don't alot of people have double Palace?

        1. Graceless Goof
          10 years, 9 months ago

I certainly don't lol. Wouldn't Dier and Toby be a better alternative though, given that the former plays in midfield as well?

          1. Puyol Pants Up
            10 years, 9 months ago

I have Walker who averages more BAP's then all of them and offers some attacking threat (1 goal, 1 assist)

Dier is pretty poor in the BAP department but does pick up goals. (3 goals, 0 assists)

            1. Graceless Goof
              10 years, 9 months ago

I'd say Toby then. Ultimately your call though!

Hi...any views on who to bench out of ighalo and Ozil?

Has Watford s form dipped now? And will ighalo he a little less prolific?

Will Ozil struggle at old and windy stoke?...stoke beat all the top teams at home.

    Any views?....really can't decide....Thanks

For a draft league , Gabriel to start this GW?

    1. Sasquatch Slayer
      10 years, 9 months ago

Does the draft league allow subs? If so you can always start him n have a replacement sub him if he starts. I could be wrong but Arsene doesn't tend to bring him in for s cameo if he doesn't start him

      1. Eden Hazardous
        10 years, 9 months ago

Need some advice with my GK's and DEF...on who to start?

GK's - Butland (ARS) or Hennessey (mci)
DEF - Tragett (WBA) / Janmaat (WHU) / Bellerin (stk) / Kosc (stk) / Moreno (MUN) ......Which 3?
