Alexis Sanchez has a chance of returning in time for Arsenal’s trip to Stoke. Andy Carroll is ruled out for West Ham, Claudio Ranieri admits he’s still managing Jamie Vardy’s fitness, whilst Bournemouth’s Matt Ritchie remains a doubt for the home clash with Norwich.

Arsene Wenger has admitted he is undecided whether to “take a gamble” on Alexis Sanchez’ hamstring injury for the trip to Stoke. The Gunners new signing Mohamed Elneny is available for the Britannia clash, whilst Danny Welbeck is expected to return from injury in two-to-three weeks.

Claudio Ranieri has conceded that he continues to manage the fitness of both Jamie Vardy and Wes Morgan, admitting “it’s difficult to say” when the former was last 100% fit after recent groin injury problems.

Scans have confirmed that West Ham’s Andy Carroll will be out for ”at least a month” with the hamstring problem that forced him off at Bournemouth. Victor Moses is available for the trip to Newcastle, whilst Cheikhou Kouyate is expected to return – Slaven Bilic revealed the midfielder wasn’t fully fit for the midweek match.

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Ryan Mason, Clinton N’jie and Alex Pritchard remain sidelined for Spurs’ plum home clash with Sunderland.

Matt Ritchie is rated “50-50” for Bournemouth’s home encounter with Norwich after being forced off with a dead leg against West Ham in midweek.

James Morrison has been ruled out with a hamstring injury as West Brom travel to Southampton. Tony Pulis has confirmed that Jonas Olsson will be assessed.

Norwich have no new fresh injuries for their clash with Bournemouth, Alex Neil has confirmed. The Canaries boss has also revealed that new signing Ivo Pinto won’t be included in his weekend squad, whilst Gary O’Neil sits out the first of a three-match ban.

Roberto Martinez has revealed that Tom Cleverley is 50-50 to face Chelsea. James McCarthy is making good progress from injury but remains unavailable.

Sunderland’s new loan signing Dame N’Doye is not eligible for their clash with Spurs. The Senegal international has now left the country to finalise a work permit and is expected to be available for next weekend’s clash with Bournemouth instead.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

People with Smalling, are you holding onto him or getting rid? It's not like there are many alternatives (that haven't already been got - Bellerin/Alderweireld)

If i had Smalling, Alde and Bellerin i'd definitely lose Smalling for a sub 5.0 to free up some funds. Fuchs, Nyom, Wollscheid and even Simpson are good fodder.

    Play 2:

    A: R. Martin (bou)
    B: Moreno (MNU)
    C: Bellerin (sto)
    D: G . Johnson (ARS)

Currently on A and B. Can see goals in the Stoke/Ars matchup.

I am doing so so so so much worse this season than the last 4/5 years or so, when i started taking more of an interest.

But I'm not really doing anything different - I thought i would be improving rather than getting worse -
Whats the reason do you think? I'm completely bemused.

I think the inconsistency is the big teams is having a big effect. Chelsea have been awful which is also a big factor considering we had at least 3 of their players last year.

Take it as a learning curve. Just try to be smart for the rest of the season and stop chasing. Chasing people or rank tends to result in stupid desicions.

There have been a number of players who have been massively consistent. If you dont have them your rank will suffer or if you got them late you won't improve because everybody else has them

After a few weeks of mediocracy and loss of interest due to getting too tangled up in the template I've decided to stop listening to what people say on here about who we must get in and instead play my wildcard and shake it up a little. The irony of having said that is I now present my team to you all and ask what you think (wildcard still active this week so I could tweak it)?:

    Adrian
    Azpi - Ivanovic - Alderweireld
    Alli - Willian - KDB - Payet
    Aguero - Giroud - Rooney

(McCarthy - Antonio - Van Arnholt - Simpson)

Writing it down like that it's not quite as punty as I thought, but I think the strikers are a departure from the Lukaku, Kane, Iggy combo that almost everyone has. Appreciate you thoughts lads and lasses...

Ha. I am having the same quandary.

I've found it best to use the template at some points, and then throw in differentials when I feel like it. Has worked very well this season.

Likewise am bored of everyone having the same team.

Issue with players like Mahrez is the amount of money you lose in selling them. Easy to gorget that that doesnt really matter, points are the only currency. Doesnt matter really what the price increases are.

      1. ChristoBisto
        • 10 Years
        10 years, 2 months ago

Exactly! It seems from recent weeks that Leicester are more of a defensive than attacking force at the moment and when players like Alli and Antonio are getting good points on my bench, midfield spots are precious. Mahrez had to go, I'll bank the profit I did make from getting him in early and hope to see profits on some of these lesser owned players I've now got. Personally I think value does matter, but it shouldn't make you hold on to a player who is being outscored.

Value matters to an extent, obviously - allowing you to raise extra funds. But with so many mid-price players performing better than the expensive options it has minimised the importance of it. i.e form midfielder at present is Antonio, form striker is Defoe.

    4. ChristoBisto
      • 10 Years
      10 years, 2 months ago

One I'm not sure on is benching Antonio - I benched him last week and he would have been my highest scoring player....But Alli has done that to me so many times already I had to be him. The gamble of a strong midfield I suppose with value options scoring well

I like the Giroud choice but not Rooney. Would rather have Lukaku by far.

Double Chelsea defence is not good. How about Fuchs at Leicester? On corners and Leicester will need clean sheets if they are to come top 4.

      1. ChristoBisto
        • 10 Years
        10 years, 2 months ago

Rooney burned me at the start of the season - lots of people will be thinking like you and not getting him in. Just want to give the old fella another chance, knowing that if he sucks I can switch back to Lukaku (if Lukaku is still firing). I actually quite like the double Chelsea defence, decent goal/assist threat both sides and as likely as any team to get clean sheets as unpredictable as it is. Gonna stick with it for now, but we'll see if it was stupid in coming weeks.

too much depends on CHE deffence. I like your attackers but Mahrez is still important to be owned. Leicester have great fixtures and always looking dangerous when attacking tho.. Firmino over Willian for me and Fuchs is good option too if you can bring him in. Not sure about Antonio punt after Moses' return to squad and not to have Ozil is a gamble which could easely be harmful for your ambitious plan 🙂 Good Luck!

    Guys,

Would you ditch Ozil at all? Away to Stoke? Reckon they could be on a backlash, Arsenal. Would be doing Willian --> Payet, but can't afford.

May do Ruddy or Butland to Kasper, alternatively. That the best 'keeper choice for next couple of GW's until I W/C...?

    Hi guys,

Have had a decent season but last two GWs have been an absolute nightmare. Dropped from top 20k to around 67k and need to change something to ensure I don't lose out in my mega league!

Anyone got any thoughts on the below? Have 1FT and 3.6m in the bank:

    Elliot (WHU)

Moreno (MUN), Bellerin (STO), Bertrand (WBA)

Alli (SUN), Ozil (stk), Mahrez (avl), De Bruyne (CPL)

Ighalo (swa), Lukaku (che), Kane (SUN),

Bench: Butland (ARS), Dann (mci), Deleufeu (che), Dawson (sou)

    Any help/advice much appreciated!!

I do love this site but I do think it can hinder some teams in terms of mob mentality. I've found myself in the past being convinced on players would I've never debated due to a lot of people saying they're a good option and end up not picking players I've fancied and it backfires. Key to get a good balance I think.

    What do you guys think?

That you need to think for yourself. 😉

If you think a player that many people like is a good option do some digging, look at their stats and FPL points and the opposition they face. Go for it if you agree, don't if you prefer another player.

I think he has the fixture least suited to his abilities, and may well be tired. He could easily get 8 points but I think less likely to get double figures than the rest.

            Could easily backfire though.

        This.
Bench Alli you have Spurs coverage in Kane.

I guess so. Adding to the fact that an Alli haul on the bench would hurt less than a Lukaku one.

Who do I get Payet for or should I hold onto my mids? I have Ozil, KDB, Mahrez and Alli. Both Mahrez and Alli have good fixtures, so not really sure if I should sell one of them for Payet. Thoughts?

Hold onto Mahrez, still great value if you got him early and need cash for Kun/Sanchez.

May get rid of Alli whos influence could be reduced with Dembele back. Im in a similar situation and havent made up my mind yet

Yeah got Mahrez for 5.6 so he is great value for me and he faces Villa this week, so not too sure about getting rid of him. Alli too have a really tasty fixture and it's hard to get him out when I just brought him in last week for Spurs easy fixtures. Think I'll hold and get Cresswell instead.

Those four you mentioned (Özil, KDB, Mahrez and Alli) are all players I would want to keep. Who's your fifth midfielder, surely Payet is better than him?

Remember though he is trying to get more than 25 pts more than the scout picks so needs to try and second guess the picks to some degree. He is not necessarily going for the best XI.

The scout picks squad article gives an indication of our thinking so in terms of the prize he is right to be a little more off the wall.

I'm not a big fan of the Firmino pick. Very inconsistent. Arsenal coverage over him

This is only vs Scout picks, not his FPL team. Firmino is a very good option for this week as a punt.

I think going without Agüero could be very rewarding. You know he will be in the scout picks and Ighalo, Deeney and Vardy have fantastic fixtures this week.

Would also fancy Willian or Oscar ahead of Firmino.

Ighalo over aguero then? If palace really are low on confidence then aguero could punish them massively

You're like many of us. You'll want Lukaku after this week, so if you're contemplating a change, it has to be Vardy.
