        I was ranked 600K at this point last season and finished at around 100K even after numerous captain fails and rookie mistakes

    I have read a few posts today/last night on the old vets like me.

    This season has been weird but I think we can slowly climb back to a decent rank, still looking for a top 10K finish myself:

    Pros:
    Chips to be played
    Money in bank
    DGWs
    some old FF players to hit form (not sure who yet)
    high owned cheap players to regress
    If cons fail people may give up

    Cons
    high owned players to continue to score well
    so called casuals continue scoring well
    captain decisions (good also go as a pro if you get it right)
    WC timing (again could be a pro)

    Anyone else have any thoughts?

      Great summary KTF, you hit all the right points. I think it boils down to DGW planning and taking advantage of casual misunderstanding and/or naivety around this.

      Also, I think saving the last WC to use right before a big DGW will be the slingshot the vets need to pass the casuals by. I know of many casuals in my ML who have already used their WC because they thought it was only good thru January.

        Exactly swan seen a few posters feel they need to use their WC during Jan without knowing they can use it anytime 2nd half of the season, onwards and upwards

      Allardyce has to take blame. Throwing a CB who hasn't played much last year on in a game like that was asking for trouble. Should have just brought extra mid on if wanted to tighten it up. Still can't defend kirscoff mind who was awful! Least Pickford was a shining light.

                It's all down to signings. Lord knows who our scouts are. Stevie wonder must be moonlighting. Doesn't help that funds are tighter than a nun's naughty bits. We should go sh!t or bust as it will be a long slog to get back up if we do go down.

        Cheers. Would mean a tricky benching decision this week at the back and also that losing KDB is the only way to get Sanchez, which I'm not sure about.

        Quite a sacrifice to keep KDB, but what about:

        GW23: VDV -> Targett (to generate cash for)
        GW24: DDG & Alli -> Elliot & Sanchez

        Leaving a front 7 of:

        Sanchez, KDB, Payet, Mahrez
        Aguero, Lukaku, Kane

        Which I think is about as good as it gets

          Not really I'have 2 FTs and will lose it and can't see getting rid of Ag Gir Kane Payet Mah Ozil 3 defs at home etc. You're right Gomez would be nice, but 0.0 itb.

    Gomes wouldn't be a bad replacement for Myhill to go with Hennessey. He is more nailed than most of the real budget goalkeeper options has a decent defence in front of him. Costs about the same and if Hennessey can keep his spot offers a pretty god rotation with CPL.
    It would mean a double up with Nyom though
