    Do we reckon Targett is nailed on in Saints' new system? Looks a very decent (and dirt cheap) OOP option once Saints navigate their next two fixtures.

    Surprised to see so much scorn for ideas about breaking free from the mainstream when the site was flooded the first half of the season with complaints bemoaning differentials not paying off.

    The great Chris Glover posted an article on here a few years ago looking at how first half stars rarely become season long keepers. It would stand to reason that people would want to find the next big thing instead of consolidate the template as we are now more than halfway through the season.

              There's all sorts here. But most will say if they think something is a bad idea, rather than promote their players in the hope of gaining TV. It's quite likely that there is a psychological ownership bias - bird in the hand etc - but for the most part, this is unconscious bias.

      a lot of people here seem to select their team based on points already gained, as opposed to potential points. really annoys me when people rubbish posters when they suggest a punt

        It also makes us less impressive as a community if all of our conversation becomes focused on telling other people to make their teams more like our own, which are likely based on the players who have already done well.

    Meh. So I have 2FTs and I'm at a loss with what to do with them. My problem areas are Myhill, Mahrez and KDB I think, but just can't see a transfer I like the look of. Any suggestions?

          You have Butland who is nailed on and gets at least 6 points almost every other week, so I wouldn't be overly worried about Myhill. If you're looking for differentials then it's probably the likes of KDB, Ozil, etc. that need to go.

      KDB and Mahrez surely aren't problem areas? Neither have been tearing things up recently but I'd also be scared to get rid of them both. A KDB -> Silva move is the only KDB replacement that tempts me at present. As for Mahrez, he's had an insane season with a few blanks in a row now, but I wouldn't be confident ditching him just now.

      I would say out of your team I'd be wanting Arnie out to a cheapie fifth mid. Also, not a fan of having such an expensive defender who plays for West Ham, a team who I would never be confident in in keeping a CS, just because there's the chance that every so often he might score a goal/assist. So, Cresswell out could be an option.

      Nice team though in my opinion, with a couple good transfers could be in great condition.

          Yes of course but I'm certain that both of these players will do well in the future.

          Can't think of any good KDB replacement currently other than Silva. Sanchez is also a potential replacement but he's just returning from injury.

          I also can't think of anyone around Mahrez's price who I'd be confident of getting more points than him in the coming weeks. Lots of potential in that price range, but no one consistent enough to be so sure of making thst switch. The next couple of weeks could be big for him though.

            Yeah I hear you, but KDB blanks too often for someone of his price. There seem to be more points elsewhere than him at the moment. It's not a move I particularly favour, but I try not to get attached to players and just go wherever the points are and in KDB and Mahrez there are currently no points.

            KDB > Sanchez is definitely on the horizon, but again only if he start actually scoring.

            What do you think of Wolly > Targett and Cresswell > Sagna ?

              Yeh I know what you mean, but he's still one of the high scoring midfielders and I back him to get more. I may well ditch him for Silva but purely for monetary reasons.

              For me it's also too soon to ditch Mahrez after an entire half season of pure points. I understand that the past means little to the present or future, but it's not like his 'past' was really that long ago. Good luck with the moves though, hopefully they don't pay off however as I'll perhaps be keeping them both! Haha!

              Hmmm, I've owned Sagna for the whole season but I actually think it's time to get rid of him now with Zabaleta back. Targett also isn't nailed. I think with defense the best thing you can do is buy long term players so you don't have to worry about making too many defensive transfers in the near future.

                You're doing a good job talking me out of these transfers. Also didn't see that Sagna didn't play this week, so that was a silly idea. I know it's spending more in defence, but maybe I'll go for Cresswell > Baines this week, then I'll still have 2FT next week to get a cheap mid or def in to make up for it.

          Purely because he's the cheapest - I'm assuming this is for your fifth mid spot. Don't see the point of spending more than is needed on what is essentially bench fodder.
