Fresh from their second win in five matches, Aston Villa endeavour to keep their survival hopes alive with a win over Liverpool. The Reds surrendered a two-goal lead in the final 10 minutes against Sunderland, so they’ll be in pursuit of just their second win in seven outings.

The Villains’ productivity on the attacking front will have to improve if they harbour any aspirations of staging a miraculous escape, considering that they ranked joint-second-bottom for big chances (two) and fifth-bottom for shots inside the box (22) over the last four Gameweeks. On a more positive note, Remi Garde’s unit conceded three goals and notched two clean sheets, establishing a solid base from which to build upon.

Liverpool racked up seven goals across the previous four Gameweeks but were carved open at the back with ease: the Merseysiders shipped nine goals and were one of just four teams that failed to register a single clean sheet. Moreover, only five clubs have conceded more goals in road ties (19) than Liverpool. Given that Jurgen Klopp’s men shipped eight goals in their last trio of away matches, the Reds’ boss might feel inclined to adapt their approach.

I really hope LEICESTER heads don't drop now.

As a villa fan, I can honestly say I want to see them win it.

From an FPL point of view, Im tripled up on Leicester so I really hope they don't let today effect them.

Their team spirit got them this far, they'll be fine.

I think it's important to remember they are still CLEAR at the top and have very favourable upcoming fixtures.

    Regarding Özil

I don't know what people are expecting when they sell a world class #10 who is consistently creating chances playing in a title challenging team. Did you honestly think he'd blank every week for the rest of the season?

I guess they needed/wanted differential. I was expecting that Alexis will outscore Ozil with some goals but he clearly didn't. Only one is doing his job at the moment. That could change soon.

That was my initial thought too, but using 1 FT to change a guy whose team play in Gwk 30 to another guy on the same team...right now I'm not sure If it makes sense or not.

    7. PÍE
      • 11 Years
      10 years, 2 months ago

It's a tad annoying. Trying to work out if it's worth using a FT to change LEI defenders, or, given the fact that he should be pencilled in for a starting spot in Gwk 30, whether it's worth keeping Simpson.

      1. Krul Runnings

          That's quite a big percentage!

Think a big factor might be whether Spurs end up having a fixture in Gwk 30 or not.
If they don't, I can't see I have the luxury of changing LEI defenders. If they do, I have some freedom, and can think on it.
Either way, makes sense to leave for a while to see what FA cup results have in store.

I have £20 on Arsenal to win the league at 5/1 since pre season so not bitter or biased, but ... If that free kick is 80 yards back, soon as its kicked, we all know the ref blows the whistle. Where in the rules does it say play on if there's a chance of a goal? No subs after 90 minutes. No injuries either. Times up when its up. Not when the chance to score is over.

Why are people getting carried away so fast?

Arsenal have United and Spurs away in 2 of their next 3 league games. Leicester, on the other hand, play Norwich, West Brom and Newcastle in their next 3 matches. Still far from over.
