Guus Hiddink considers resting Diego Costa for one of Chelsea’s next two league matches. N’Golo Kante is ruled out of Leicester’s upcoming pair of top-flight encounters, Shane Long remains a doubt as Southampton head to Bournemouth, whilst Chris Brunt is ruled out of West Brom’s trip to the King Power.

Arsene Wenger hinted at making changes to his XI earlier this morning after admitting the likes of Danny Welbeck may not be “completely fit” to deal with the hectic schedule. The Gunners boss also went on to confirm that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be out for six-to-eight weeks with a knee injury.

Sunderland have no fresh injury worries for the visit of Palace, Sam Allardyce has confirmed. It’s “as you were” for the Black Cats, then, with Jeremain Lens and Duncan Watmore the only players sidelined.

Eddie Howe reckons that Junior Stanislas will be out “for a few weeks” after undergoing scans on the hamstring injury that forced him off last weekend. The Bournemouth boss conceded he will manage Max Gradel’s minutes after the winger returned from a long-term knee injury last weekend, whilst Lewis Grabban has stepped up his recovery from a groin problem but remains a doubt.

Chris Brunt is set to see a specialist today after sustaining a knee injury in the weekend win over Palace. Tony Pulis conceded he’s keen to field “a similar team” from the one that defeated the Eagles, though Jonny Evans – if fit – will return.

N’Golo Kante has been ruled out of the next couple of Gameweeks due to a hamstring problem, Claudio Ranieri has admitted. The Foxes boss confirmed that Andy King is set to start in central midfield alongside Danny Drinkwater, whilst he’s also set to welcome back Danny Simpson from a one-match ban against the Baggies.

Seb Bassong and Wes Hoolahan remain doubtful for Norwich’s home match with Chelsea, Alex Neil has revealed. Andre Wisdom is still sidelined with a knee complaint, whilst Patrick Bamford cannot play against his parent club.

John Terry will remain sidelined for Chelsea’s trip to Norwich, Guus Hiddink has revealed. Pedro is also out with the hamstring problem that forced him off early against Southampton, though Alexandre Pato has stepped up his fitness drive and could play a part. Hiddink also went on to admit that he may rest Diego Costa for one of the next two league matches, with one eye on next week’s Champions League clash against PSG, as the Blues attempt to claw back a 2-1 first-leg deficit. Hiddink has also revealed that youngster Bertrand Traore has moved ahead of both Pato and Loic Remy in the pecking order behind Costa for the lone striker role.

Shane Long is Southampton’s only doubt for the trip to Bournemouth after being withdrawn due to a minor hamstring problem on Saturday.

Palace have no fresh injury concerns for their trip to the Stadium of Light, with Bakary Sako back in the fold after returning to full training ahead of their relegation clash.

Mo Besic and Darron Gibson are ruled out of Everton’s visit to Villa, whilst Arouna Kone has recovered from the illness that kept him out of the recent FA Cup win at Bournemouth.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

    GWK 28's tough decisions

With many ditching their fifth midfield bench fodder for the last set of fixtures this latest Gameweek presents many with a tough benching decision.

Do you now find yourself with a great front 8 and a benching headache? Who is set to sit out for you? Or are you happy to bench a mid or fwd this week?

And what of the captaincy? This is another tough week with a number of likely contenders. Who are you going for? Is it the home form of Vardy? The form and fixture of Ozil? Or the comfort of Aguero? What about Costa? Does he get the nod from you if you own him?

Vardy for the armband, on penalties and Wickham just scored a brace against them at CF so happy with the potential

Had a benching headache for the whole season. Best thing ever. I'd rather have a benching headache, and know that my replacement if needed) is solid.

Alli on the bench this week - he's second, and Wolly is first sub. Daniels last.

      Ozil captain of course

Still undecided between Ozil, Mahrez and Vardy for the captaincy. Changes almost hourly.

Benching Sigurdsson this week - who I'm happy to come on for Alli - should the teenager not make it or be rotated.

Not worried about Kanté's absence and Leicester's recent poor chance creation stats and penchant for a CS?

More tempted by Fuchs than Mahrez this week, although Vardy's home form is tempting too.

There's a worry with every choice - Arsenal have a poor home record against Swansea, WBA can stifle attackers. But I think both have a good enough upside on form and fixture (well on paper anyway).

I got him to avoid the headache. Easy to bench gwk 28 v Arsenal. Alli gets the bench in GWK 29 as he's at home and also against Arsenal. Given Alli's tendency for a reckless foul or two and relatively poor home form I'm ok benching him then.

      (C)osta here!

I still have Tettey as a 5th mid, so little bit jealous of the people with benching headaches at the moment, with all the talk of Alli possibly injured, Payet not getting amongst the points recently, Costa may be due a rest etc. Quite happy with my 5 defenders though, so strong-ish options off the bench this week in Daniels and Alderweireld if needed.

Daniels, Fuchs and Ivanovic. With clean sheets getting hard to predict I've gone for those with a bit extra to them. May swap VVD and Daniels though. Tough week - got too strong a bench so definitley no need for a transfer this week.

Thanks Jonty, I'm currently playing Fuchs, Daniels, Wollscheid with Alderweireld and Cresswell on my bench. Hopefully I picked the right three. Your view on them?

But waiting for Stoke presser later on to see if Shawcross is back, really not confident in Stoke defence since he's out.

Haha here we go again Mr Baggio! Hope you took my advice and played Daniels over Wolly at the weekend? 6pt bonus right there! Afraid I didn't take my own advice - benched Daniels and Ivan's lovely 18pts combined while playing PVA and Toby for a pathetic 4pts - lost my H2H by a point too! Painful.

Hey, hey my friend. Didn't take your advice unfortunately and benched Daniels and Cresswell while playing Toby and Wolly. Never doing it again. Lesson learned. That's 14 points on my bench and getting 4. It still hurts. This week I'm playing Daniels, Fuchs and Wolly if ShawX is fit otherwise Toby and whatever happens, happens. 🙂

At least I won my H2H game. So it's not that bad. 🙂

Oh no! Thought you were sorted on Daniels and Cresswell! Easier this week - Ivan Fuchs and PVA all have good fixtures so that's easy. It's the other end of the pitch that's causing me headaches - was all set to captain Costa til Hiddink said he might rest him! Tough to choose between Payet and Alli for bench too - invariably I'll get it wrong!

      Hi Jonty

I kept to my "poor 5th mid" rule and still have an injured Morrison - I chose to replace Lukaku with Vardy rather than Moz, and brought Fuchs in for Zouma. So I have a really straightforward team pick with no benching headache - personally, I much prefer it that way!

It's between Aguero and Vardy for me - no Ozil here. Currently on Vardy, but I'm really not sure.

Might come down to something as silly as that fact that I'm (c) Kun (along with everyone else) at the weekend so I might give Vardy one last crack.

Plus he needs to score at least one hattie this year, right?

Leap of faith...Sanchez(c), Vardy(vc). Although he only has 1 assist in 10, he still leads the way for shots in recent game weeks. Arsene Wenger will have fired his team up for a reaction to the weekend in order to stay in the title chase. Expecting an onslaught. Sanchez has explosive potential when taking this into account. Benching Alli and Toby, hoping Payet pierces the Spurs defence.

Alli & Antonio are fighting it out for my spot on the bench. Keen to hear who the community think I should bench!

Özil has my armband at the moment but Alexis and Agüero are tempting me.

currently on ozil, as i think after arsenal losing 2 big games in a row they will want to send out a message of intent.

however i cant get barkley and arnie out of my head.

everton away at aston villa, villa we know randomly fall apart in games this season but also have the ability to grind out 0-0 or lose 1-0. it all depends on what everton team turn up as this could be 3/4/5-0.

arnie home to newcastle, newcastle terrible away from home this season. conceded 12 in last 5 but stoke again similar to everton, it depends which side turns up. history shows newcastle and stoke like a draw however based on this season if an explosive stoke turn up we could be in for a high scoring game.

who thinks ozil is the wrong choice?

Morning all, hope you're well, could you spare a min and glance at this lot:

    Butland

    Toby Bellerin VVD

    Mahrez Payet Ozil Arnie(C)

    Aguero Kane Vardy

    Subs: McCarthy Alli Simpson R.Bennett - 1FT 3.8m itb

I'm captaining Arnie only if Bojan is out? He keeps penalty duties then and fancy him for a big haul, has form and the fixture, lethal combo.

Alli bench over Payet because he has a knock.

Playing VVD over Simpson because I have concerns over Kantes' influence and Amartey could well keep his place, VVD offers more goal threat from set pieces. I am also putting Alli before Simpson on the bench because if he does play and I need him, he has a higher chance of getting amongst the points

    Thoughts?

I'm thinking Otamendi instead of Kompany, just because Kompany's injuries and the fact he's integral to the team in "big games" (e.g. UCL) might see him rested in the league if there's an upcoming game, with Mangala slotting in alongside Otamendi who seems consistent.

Have 2 FTs but only gonna use one, whoever I bring in will be benched this week. Whoever I don't get this GW I will bring in the next (so realistically I don't think it really matters) but anyway...

    A. Ward to Kompany
    B. Ward to Williams
    C. Payet to Siggy

A - Siggy in and bench him
B - Arnie in then Siggy in next week (would probably mean a -4 down the line somewhere)

I did A on Friday to avoid a hit

given Arnie got 15 I'd have been better with B

Tough call. I'm playing VVD and benching Smith, if that helps. Daniels a bap hoe though!

I have been asking myself this question so many times before this GW. I see the chance of a CS as higher for Southampton (I believe the bookmakers agree as well, but it is not a big difference between the two teams). At the same time Daniels is a bonus-magnet and on penalties (basically plays as a winger at times). Shane Long has seemed to be Southampton biggest threat going forward, but is out for this GW.

So it would be either going for the defender with the highest CS chance or the defender with that is more likely to get attacking returns.

Throughout the season Southampton have managed 4 more clean sheets (5 at home and 5 away) than Bournemouth (3 at home and 3 away).

What seems to swing it for me is the quality of the GKs. Even though Forster had a horrible GW27 he is one of the most consistent GKs in the Premier League.
