2FT and 4.5 mill in the bank.

    Butland
    Alderweireld Kompany Fuchs
    Ozil** Mahrez Siggy Alli
    Kane Aguero Vardy

    Hennessey*; Bertrand, Targett, Payet*

    A) Payet -> Silva
    B) Targett -> Williams
    C) something else? Have to use one FT.

I fancy this one to wait until the cup QFs are played - because there's a chance they could fit the Sunderland re-arranged game on Cup Semi weekend if Palace and Arsenal get there and Everton don't. Or they could go ahead and schedule the Liverpool game for GW34 regardless.

2 free transfers with nothing to use it on other than swap McCarthy for a keeper to go alongside Butland... Thoughts? What's with the Forster love?

Pellegrini on Silva: "David is coming back from a long - I can’t say an injury because it is a pain in his ankle.

"He is trying to improve as much as he can, but he continues to play not 100% comfortably."

"He did well against Villa and I hope if he is 100% he will continue improving. He is still feeling the pain."

Aguero or Kane it's between for me.

I have Aguero ahead but agree with your sentiments.

This may sound strange but is anyone enjoying fpl MORE because they are doing badly?

I had a great season last year (top 100) but didn't massively enjoy it because I felt the pressure on every decision - didn't want to screw up my good rank. I was also way ahead of my mates, so there was no real rivalry.

This year I'm doing nowhere near as well but I feel like I can enjoy it more and take more punts. As its really close, there's way more interest and rivalry with my mates.

    Just me?

Im a bit similar, last season i walked the mini league with ease. This year its veryyyy close!

However this season has given me more frustration than any ever before. Sat at 170k which is truely awful

Yes, exactly. I was 70K OR last year but 100 pts. up in my minileague for half of the season...untouchable. The rest of my ML was pissed and full of venom...downright mean because I beat them all so badly, they didn't have a chance to catch me. This year I'm about 440K overall and 4th in roughly the same minileague of folks, 80 behind the leader...and it's much more fun for me. Maybe it was all the abuse I got from my mates for beating them so badly every week last year but I'm enjoying the season much more fighting for a top 3 finish in our ML.

should be shouldn't it - in fact maybe the most enjoyable part isn't even the bragging, its the knowledge that your mates are dreading seeing or speaking to you.

I love it and would really recommend it if you enjoy Sky.

          A few positives :
          - they have "key contributions" so the assister of the assister often does well - Ross Barkley and Ozil are machines on this front.
          - FA cup is included - adds an extra element of skill
          - Elite leagues - you can enter a league with 19 other randomers with various levels of entry fee - i am on course to make about 1k profit from these this season

It is quite hands on to be honest, for me it is my main game and I try and have fun with FPL picking players I don't have in my Telegraph team.
You have 36 transfers and generally need 15-20 left come January, so there can be long periods where you leave your team be (providing things are going well).

I'm definitely enjoying it more. The chips and wildcards have given hope and the early form of Leicester has presented a game of catch up I'm enjoying. Last season I barely moved 2,000 places for the last 30 gameweeks. This season has been a rollercoaster - best I an remember for years.

  19. GW30 Captain Options

    Captain options next GW:

Kane: Villa's gameplan for the rest of the season appears to be stick 10 men behind the ball, hope to get to 75 mins at 0-0 then put Gestede on and hope to sneak a 1-0.

Its frustrating viewing when you captain someone playing them. You know the floodgates will open once the first goal goes in, but its how long its going to take for that first goal to happen. Couple that with the fact that Alli and Eriksen could feasibly outscore Kane in this one.

Aguero: Norwich have problems at both ends of the pitch but are playing with more spirit than some of the other teams down there with them.

If any of the current bottom 3 get out of it they look most likely to be the ones. Could pull off an upset and if Villa could hold out City for 45 mins then you have to think Norwich can last longer than that …….

Mahrez/Vardy: Leicester aren't scoring in bunches any more. But Newcastle are in big trouble and look completely bereft of inspiration or desire.

They desperately need a win but its hard to see them going on the road and shuting out a foxes team who are now in touching distance of the Premier League title.

Siggy: Bournemouth at home are no pushovers and Swansea won't have their own way there.

Bournemouth need to win their home games and, truthfully, Swansea this season really aren't all that much better than the Cherries anyway.

    Decisions, decisions, eh!

        Me too.

Leicester at home v that Newcastle defence swinging it for me at the moment. I just can't see them staying up with McClaren.

Spurs should spank Villa, but City's away form worries me. Kind of game that I think Alex Neil will park the bus and try and steal a point. It won't work, but it may cause City enough problems that they only win 1-0.

Fancy Bournemouth to get a result at home v Swans.

I'm pretty happy regardless because I have all of those players, so I should get some points all around. Easy captain choice, only three people in my league(including me) have Kun.

Only two(including me) have Kane, so I might have to think about that too.

My punty picks would be Siggy, then Vardy, then Mahrez. Feeling good about Siggy vs BOU.

You guys with your 'form of fixtures' rule! Nobody has said Vardy yet, he's playing a terrible defence and moreso the centre backs are some of the worst I've ever seen. He's playing against a team that needs to win, and is there any midfielder who neglects his defensive duties as much as Shelvey? no. You lot go with mahrez, I'm going vardy

I agree, looking at stats, Vardy is high up in goals imminant...however, my ML rival has him and not Mahrez so i might go with Mahrez to try and get a bit of a steal!

Its all between Kane and Aguero..
But I think Kane edge it.. Villa is worse in defense and Spurs is better going forward than ManCity this year. If Liverpool have put 6 past AVL, I guess spurs will do the same.

Kun is a rotation risk also, may well be subbed on the hour mark.

So I'm going Kane! Spurs missed 2 opportunities to close the gap on Leicester and I think they'll show their attacking prowess this time.

Another consideration is that Spurs have scored 27 away league goals compared with City who have just 13. Kane has scored more goals away (9) than he has at home (8). Of Aguero's 16 league goals, only 4 have been away.

That said, I'm still slightly torn between the two for captain. I think both teams will score 3 or more this weekend.

I'm absent a keeper next week... do I:

    a) Henn to Hart
    b) Gomes to Hart
    c) Henn to Elliot

    a) is a big price jump but Gomes rotates well with Hart. c) saves money but means I'm mostly relying on Gomes. My other worry about Hart is that he doesn't get many save or bonus points. And if Kompany picks up another injury his CS prospects will drop.

I have 4.5m in bank so money not really a problem, but still would give me more flexibility if I want to turn my 4th mid (currently Siggy at 7m) into a Sanchez down the line.

Well that was a weekend, I took a -4 hit, transferred Payet out, 2 x players missed a penalty but I got my highest GW rank of the season of 32k and went up a 100 odd thousand so ended up all good like most on here. @BALDERS good game, I was cheering on Liverpool, honest!

Very well played Danno! I knew 11 points was a big ask but damn he gave it his best shot. Good luck with the rest of the tournament mate 🙂

good enough to hold or use the only FT possibly on Smith or Ozil?

    Schmeichel
    Fuchs, Alderweireld, Williams, Smith, Daniels
    Siggy, Mahrez, Alli
    Kane Aguero

    McCarthy, Payet, Ozil, Lukaku

    1 ft 4.1 itb

    appreciate the input

Vardy seems to have better fixtures over Lukaku...might swap him out
