Many of the community’s double Gameweek plans were being hastily rewritten as a result of the red-hot form shown by the likes of Harry Kane and Riyad Mahrez. Our hot topic posters chart their u-turns and second thoughts over the potential use of Fantasy Premier League chips and wildcards, while our community articles section turns its attention to the most consistent and explosive captaincy options. Rafa Benitez’s revolution at Newcastle comes under the spotlight in our Members tables and we also reveal who are leading the way in our community leagues.

The Community Articles

Captaincy candidates for the impending double Gameweeks came under the watchful eye of TM245 this week. His analysis of the best midfield and forward candidates for the triple captaincy chip is a must read as the community makes its plans for the upcoming extended fixture list. The FPL veterans, being tracked by Kavali, will be among those keeping a watchful eye on the best options over the next few Gameweeks as they continue their long march to respectability.

Meanwhile, the World T20 Fantasy game entered its third phase this week and Moin was on hand to offer his advice.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Double gameweek planning continues to dominate discussion but, ponders Andy85wsm, is the chance to play 15 players with two fixtures in Gameweek 34 clouding our judgement?

Ditching in-form single Gameweek 34 players such as Kane could prove potential blunders, according to Lightbody’s discussion on double Gameweeks. The Kane captainers featured in our Gameweek 31 rough with the smooth will certainly be having second thoughts about jettisoning the Spurs man after he brought them a 32-point FPL haul. Southampton’s in-form striker Graziano Pelle is another single Gameweeker that is upsetting the community’s double Gameweek plans, according to Irish Madridsta.

There were plenty more torn-up double Gameweek plans when we asked whether Fantasy managers were having second thoughts about going all out with 15 players in Gameweek 34. In addition, the news that Everton and Crystal Palace have a double Gameweek 33 also forced a few hasty rewrites.

RoysCallerAnne has endured the roughest of seasons but is hoping the double Gameweeks can bring him some much-needed joy. Instead of opting for popular Gameweek 34 picks such as Sergio Aguero, he is on a mission to create a potential rankings-boosting differential squad.
Later in the week NickofOz served up Newcastle’s Alexsandar Mitrovic as a potential target for those looking for a double Gameweek punt.

Our more creative community members have also been busy constructing online tools to help Fantasy managers get their thoughts together and select the best players. Jossy’s double Gameweek gadget can be found here, while Twisted Saltergater is another to put his online skills to good use.

Whether looking for a good punt for Gameweek 32 or a double Gameweek player on a wildcard Evs warns against picking players from teams with nothing to play for and are more interested in making summer holiday plans.

Members Tables

For those looking to keep a close eye on Rafa Benitez’s chances of retaining Premier League status for Newcastle SixtySeven has created a table tracking their key players. This has an open filter allowing for comparisons between pre- and post-Benitez era Magpies.

Before investing in a striker for the up coming double Gameweeks Members are urged to look at Balders’ latest table, looking at those who are at risk of losing out in FPL’s bonus point system.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

In addition, with blanks and double Gameweeks now here it is wise to sort by matches rather than Gameweeks to give a fairer gauge of form.

The Community Tournaments

Jarvish’s Frequent Posters Cup reaches the last 16 stage in Gameweek 32 with iCon, Ayew Serious and Pompeyfan among those to emerge victorious from the previous round in Gameweek 31.

In the Top 10k Any Season league, Ralf Buckenmaier has regained the lead and also reached 99th in the overall FPL rankings, while Nial Akata continues to lead the January to May League. Both these competitions are organised by Red Lightning.

The top five in the FFScout moderators and contributors league stayed the same after Gameweek 1, which means Andy remains at the summit, keeping second placed Evs at bay once again.

In TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing the safety score was 79, which saw 46 players depart and 128 remain.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

              Either TC34, keeping fielding 11 for a -4, and having a strong 11 in 35 before WC36, BB37.

              Or WC32 keep nobody, TC34, have a good 11 in 35, BB in 37 with 13x DGW + Sanchez + Aguero.

I'm still on it - I can get (with no hits):

        4 x DGWers in 33
        10 x DGWers in 34
11 in 35 with 1 FT to spare

I've got them both too - hoping Hart is back for GW34, and I am still relatively comfortable with Wij for now - if not, I can always transfer him out for GW34 and just have 9 DGWers.

they probably don't even take this game half as serious as us, though. There's barely any logic behind handing probably your most valuable chip to an inconsistent mid that plays for Newcastle. Especially when there are dgw's ahead. People that take this game seriously wouldn't risk that.

I think I prefer option A but mainly because it's my what I'm thinking. Leaving a WC card late could help me for my mini-leagues because unfortunately that's all I've got left as my OR is pants. But a late WC could reap rewards.

          1. Jay_
            10 years, 4 months ago

Yh the late WC is the key for me, just the thought of having it up sleeve later than everyone else will be satisfying. Plus my gw34 non WC team will only be missing a few LIV defenders. But the BBers in 34 scare me. If Liverpool keep a cleanie it will be annoying

  10. DOG GOD IT - KEANE 16

So, had already planned to wc in 33 and go all in with 15dgwers for gw34 (using bb).
And still being able to field 11 in gw35 (by doing payet to willian).
Then with 3 more transfers, can field 11dgwers again in gw37 (using tc).

But now, the latest news on dgw33 for cp and eve has changed this ... So heres my latest draft attempt, wc in gw32:

    Henn/mig
    Bellerin/sakho/ogbonna/dawson/evans
    Firmino/ozil/payet/barkley/bolasie
    Kun/lukaku/mitrovic or rondon

    Gw33: save ft; 4dgwers (henn/bark/bol/kaku)
Gw34: do bolasie to sanchez; 15 dgwers (bench boost)
Gw35: do barkley to willian, 11 players
    Gw36: do dawson to ivanovic
    Gw37: do evans & ozil & kun/mitrovic to 3 more dgwers (-4); play 11dgwers
Gw38: use aoa and have fun

    Workable plan?

So, mitrovic or rondon? I rate rondon higher, but newc have more to play for ...

I'd personally cut the spending at the back.

Joe Hart and a lot of expensive defenders.

Put the cash up the pitch.

I've been looking at real cheap defensive options.

They could get slated on here but that's how I usually roll.

Bellerin Moreno Evans Rojo Dann - could be close to what I go.

Tbh I wouldn't wildcard in 32 or have 6 for the first dgw.

Maybe 4. Not sure how but I'd like 4.

            • 12 Years
            10 years, 4 months ago

Yeah I'm not actually touching that template it was just a good mental exercise to see if we could hit every single DGW. I'm looking at 5 at the moment in Robles, Dann, Bolasie, Barkley and Lukaku. Dann would then go for an Arsenal defender in GW34.

This is actually a really handy starting point. Messing around with it got me:

      Robles, Elliott
      Bellerin, Clichy, Clyne, Gabriel, Ward
      Ozil, Payet, Firmino, Bolasie, Lennon
      Aguero, Kane, Lukaku

With 1.4m left over for more upgrades.

Not too shabby given it has all the main players I'd want in Kane, Kun, Lukaku, Ozil, Payet, Firmino and Bellerin.

    RMGW32WCT

    Elliot (Robles)
    Cresswell Bellerin Gabriel (Sakho Fuchs)
    Payet Antonio Ozil Willian (Firmino)
    Kun Kane Luk

    GW33 Willian -> Bolasie & TC Lukaku
    GW34 Bolasie -> Lingard
GW35 Lingard -> Alli and maybe -4 to get to 11, maybe not

I know a lot of you sensible people are keeping Mahrez, Kane etc but sitting at 80k and hoping for 10k I don't want any of this sitting on the fence nonsense. Will max out on DGW players every week and hope for the best.

Fun times ahead, if a little scary

Yeah that's fair enough. Mahrez is certainly staying in my team due to ownership/value tied up in him/ I want to say I've owned him all season but I think I might get rid of Kane for Mitrovic. Then do Lukaku to Kane (WBA) for GW35.

I was looking at Cech but money is tight...unless I do a "Triggertits" and boot Kun.

Mignolet looks the best way into the LIV defence and as Bellerin is needed, I would feel uncomfortable having both Cech and Bellerin.

Plus, some are looking at a mid plus Welbeck.

          • 12 Years

Booting Kun is even more bizarre than booting Mahrez to me.

It needs to be said though: he ain't delivering (esp in away games). If want to make the most of our bench boost, removing Kun allows us to drastically improve our squads and gain more bench points.

          • 12 Years
          10 years, 4 months ago

And if I get Cech there's no need for Bellerin IMO, 1 at the back will be enough.

    Right onto defenders now.

    Thinking:

Bellerin: dgws, no blanks, attacking returns, great fixtures, something to play for
Rojo: cheap, highest ppg, dgw, best fixtures, something to play for
Janmaat: Rafarisation of New, 0 big chances conceded, motivated, best attacking threat, cheap
Reid: dgws, cheap, kiwi, motivated team
Sakho: played last 12/13, cheap, fixtures, motivated

    Thoughts?

As someone who is wildcarding this week I find it very hard to field 11 players in gw 35 and as many dgw as possible in gw 37, thinking those planning to wc in 36 might have a big advantage there!

      1. JÆKS ⭐

Indeed but I don't really like the players

        * If Cech is fine, I'm going with Cech Robles, amazing combination for the remaining games

        * Starting in defence with Clyne Rojo Reid Simpson Ward with Ward out for Evans in gw 34, and maybe Rojo out for Azpi in gw 35 this would give me 4/5 defenders with a dgw in 34, 4/5 playing in 35, and again 3/5 with a dgw in 37 (Reid Azpi Clyne)

        * In middfield I'm on Sanchez Ozil Coutinho Payet Lennon as it stand, all a dgw in 34, but only 3/5 will play in gw 35 unless I sell Lennon for someone like for instance Willian, and 4/5 + Ozil will have a dgw in 37 if I sell Sanchez for Firmino for example

        * Aguero Lukaku for sure, Lukaku blanks in gw 35 though but has 2 dgw, not sure about my 3th striker spot though...

    DeGea/Mignolet
    Cathcart Bellerin Sagna Smalling Dawson
Firmino Sanchez Wijnaldum Payet/Lennon DeBruyne if back otherwise Silva
    Welbeck Rashford Lukaku

    GW35 DeBruyne & Rashford > Willian & Kane/Costa
    GW36 Welbeck > Kane/Costa
    GW37 Bellerin > Azpilicueta

    10 DGW for GW37 11 if I don't get Kane and opt for a DGW like Ighalo/Sturridge/martial

Finding it impossible to include all of Aguero, Kane and Sanchez in my team. Which would you drop?

Thank you for the replies earlier.

Now onto the mids for the 33-38 period.

    I offer up:

    Mahrez - indispensable
    Firmino - OOP/explosive/dgws/no blanks
    Payet - dgws/nearly 6ppg/TC option in 37
Ozil - been consistent till now, why change? dgw/no blanks
Lanzini - cheap enabler in the points/dgw

Obviously some concerns here and probably the midfield is going to be the hardest area of the team to get right.

    - no EVR
    - is Firmino fit?
    - no City

Who would you replace from this five and why?

Not sure on Ozil. Seems knackered.

His stats from the Members article suggests his KPIs are holding up. No one else from the ARS midfield really appeals tbh.

Two West Ham mids seems like the most obvious thing to change I guess?

Yeah-problem is I don't have the money. Something has to give.

If I get rid of Kun, I can make some serious improvements throughout the team which would help the bench boost chip.

Think this depends on your frontline.

If you're going to have Lukaku and less than 2 FTs, might want to swap out Lanzini for a mid that plays in GW 35, or if you have Lukaku + a United/Arsenal forward.

Tbh, Arvin, I haven't even thought about planning FTs etc.

I'm just trying to get 15 players out for 33.

My forward line will be Kane, Lukaku and Kun.

I did ask before but further feedback would be appreciated...been offered Okazaki for Siggy in a draft league. Okazaki doesn't blank in gwk35 and has slightly better fixtures. Would you keep Siggy?

    Macro
    1. Cech, Robles,
    Simpson, Bellerin, Rojo, Sakho, Reid
    Firmino, Mahrez, Ozil, Payet, Antonio
    Aguero, Lukaku, Kane
    0.1m in account

    2. Cech, Robles
    Simpson, Bellerin, Sakho, Reid, Evans
    Firmino, Mahrez, Ozil, Payet, Bolasie
    Aguero, Lukaku, Kane
    0.0m in account

    Micro
    1. Rojo/Antonio or
    2. Evans/Bolasie

Possibility of Lanzini instead of Anto too.

Which of the above WC selections look better and do you think either look decent enough?

Anyone DGWer in 33 worth triple captaining, as opposed to 37?

He'd probably be the one. And more nailed on than some 37 cats, potentially.

Lukaku could be decent, Everton are much better away from home and both games are away

Think Lukaku in 33 might be the best TC option out there.

        Would you save for 37?
