International Minutes Assessed – Part Two

After rolling out Part One of our assessment of the recent internationals, we now examine the pitch time and distance travelled by those players who ply their trade for the remaining ten teams.

NEWCASTLE

With Tim Krul already a long-term absentee, Rafael Benitez was dealt a cruel blow following the season-ending knee injury suffered by Rob Elliot whilst playing for Republic of Ireland against Slovakia on Tuesday night. NORWICH

None of the Norwich players face long flights back, with Dieumerci Mbokani not featuring for DR Congo after being at Zaventem Airport in Brussels during the terror attacks. Alex Neil shouldn’t have too many issues as he prepares his side for the crunch home clash against fellow strugglers Newcastle on Saturday.

Martin Olsson – Sweden (24/03 (a) v Turkey in Antalya and 29/03 (h) v Czech Republic in Solna) – Was an unused substitute against Turkey, but played the full match against Czech Republic, registering an assist in the 1-1 draw.

Graziano Pelle – Italy (24/03 (h) v Spain in Udine and 29/03 (a) v Germany in Munich) – Only played 60 minutes against Spain.

SUNDERLAND

Only DeAndre Yedlin played 180 minutes over the international break among the Black Cats’ squad, so the right-back will need to be assessed when he returns, with Sunderland facing a crucial home fixture against West Brom on Saturday.

WATFORD

Odion Ighalo chalked up 180 minutes for Nigeria over the international break, and with their second match taking place on Tuesday, the striker will need to be assessed when he returns to the club. Juan Carlos Paredes also played late on Tuesday night, and may only arrive back at some point today.

WEST BROM

Salomon Rondon wasn’t available for Venezuela’s second match due to suspension and flew back to the midlands early as a result. That should increase the chances the striker starts against Sunderland on Saturday, while Gareth McAuley, Jonny Evans and James Chester all played their second matches on Monday night, giving them some extra recovery time.

Gareth McAuley and Jonny Evans – Northern Ireland (24/03 (a) v Wales in Cardiff and 28/03 (h) v Slovenia in Belfast) – McAuley played the full 90 minutes and Cardiff, before playing just the first-half against Slovenia. Salomon Rondon – Venezuela (25/03 (a) v Peru in La Paz and 30/03 (h) v Chile in Barinas) – Played 90 minutes against Peru, but missed the Chile match due to suspension and travelled home early.

WEST HAM

Slaven Bilic will be delighted with the form Dimitri Payet showed on the international duty, while he’ll also be pleased he only played 27 minutes on Tuesday night, meaning he should be pretty fresh for the home encounter against Crystal Palace. Enner Valencia did play both matches for Ecuador though, and will need to be assessed on his return to the club.

Darren Randolph – Republic of Ireland (25/03 (h) v Switzerland in Dublin and 29/03 (h) v Slovakia in Dublin) – Played the full match against Switzerland, and 74 minutes against Slovakia after Rob Elliot suffered a serious knee injury.

big reader, but limited poster, but I always get great advice from everyone, so I have a fairly simple question,

    Hart, Butland
    Toby, Azpi, Simpson, Daniels, VVD
    Siggy, Ozil, Payet, Mahrez, Ali,
    Vardy, Kane, Kun

    2FT, playing WC next week

For a punt this week, is Butland & Toby > Courtois & Ivanovic too much on chelsea bearing in mind I have Azpi already?

    p.s. new website looks great

Get an Arsenal defender instead of Ivanovic. 3 chelsea defenders too risky. I would get Courtiois and Bellerin

that could work, had Bellerin at the wrong time this season so always been dubious to get him back in

You probably need a GK. Maybe get a new mid or triple on Chelsea.

What about Adrian + Ivan instead? Not too keen on Chelsea triple up. Could be golden though as Villa are dire. Just not a fan of all your eggs in one basket

not putting all eggs in one basket seems like the general consensus, especially with a 12.45 kick off!

Im bringing in Ivan this week with the expectation of a clean sheet minimum, but the triple up could jinx it :p

A I'd say, Ozil and Sanchez on a par, Dann alot more threatening

Recently ive been happy about owning Sanchez over Ozil but forcing to drop him is crushing.

Looks like A is the better option anyway, thanks all!

Dann is easier to switch out than Ward if that helps. I'm pondering something similar with either Delaney and Smalling or Rojo and Dann

        • 9 Years
        8 years, 1 month ago

Yeh definately gives you more options. I presume you wont be playing Delaney every week? Rather Smalling but Rojo and Dann are better balanced and Rojo seems to be a late sub after 60mins so could retain a clean sheet. But the issue of nailedness is present.

Messed up massively this week. Brought in Payet with my FT instead of being patient and bringing him in today. Now I have lost both of my keepers. I was 100% WC in 33 but now I must consider doing it now.

Here is my current team for 32
    Butland
    Simpson / Walker / Williams
    Siggy / Mahrez / Ozil / Payet
    Mitrovic / Aguero / Vardy

    Elliott / Kompany / Bertrand / Eriksen

Or do I hit wildcard and go with this:
    Mignolet / Robles
    Smalling / Sakho / Koscielny / Otamendi / Janmaat
    Sanchez / Barkley / Payet / Townsend / Firmino
    Welbeck / Martial / Lukaku

I honestly think my team with 10 players can out score that wildcard team however hitting the wildcard would mean I could either have Bolasie for GW33 or an extra DGW player for 37. Also I would be worried about not having Aguero in GW32 but I am not as worried afterwards...

Man oh man what a fool I am. Are there any keepers below 5m worth the -4 this week...?

      Could Adrian be the man??

Maybe take a hit and bring in Adrian as it would only be for a -2 because of no other option.

Honestly would be tempted to WC and gain an extra FT instead of WC33, but im not a fan of Otamendi, Townsend, Janmaat, Barkley and an injured non playing Firmino. Not to mention going without one of Aguero/Kane

I'm happy with my WC team but it doesn't look very good in GW32 I have to say. I think I will take the hit.

Bringing in a keeper is probably best, may even be tempted to bench one of Vardy/Mitrovic for Erikson. Think Spurs will tear Pool up

I've been on GW36 wildcard until now but I've just put together this GW33 wildcard plan - would appreciate any thoughts you have!

    GW33:
    Robles
    Delaney, Sakho, Fuchs
    Mahrez, Ozil, Barkley, Firmino
    Aguero, Lukaku, Kane

    Bench: Darlow, Payet, Bellerin, Rojo.

    GW34: BB with 12 DGW'ers + Fuchs, Mahrez, Kane.

GW35: Rojo to PvA and field 10 players

    GW36: Mahrez/Aguero to Willian/Sturridge 2 FTs

GW37: Delaney to Smalling FT and field 10 DGW'ers + Kane

    What do you think?

      I'm going this -

      Robles (wat/cry)
Fuchs (sun) -- Sakho (STK) -- Reid (ARS)
Mahrez (sun) -- Payet (ARS) -- Barkley (wat/cry) -- Firmino (STK)
Kane (MUN) -- Lukaku (wat/cry) -- Aguero (WBA)

Bench -- Mignolet (STK) -- Ozil (whu) -- Bellerin (whu) -- Gabriel (whu)

Good team. I would rather have Welbeck than Kane..

One of the main reasons for going for the GW33 wildcard would be so that I could keep Kane.

If I save wildcard for GW36, my GW34 team would be:

        De Gea
        Bellerin, Delaney, Dawson
        Ozil, Payet, Firmino, Mahrez
        Aguero, Lukaku, Welbeck

        Bench: Forster, Alli, Fuchs, Dier

Should I just save WC for GW36?

Anyone else WC this week to take advantage of Lukaku TC in GW33?

Probably WC this week but depends how he looks vs United, Payet in 37 may be a better option

If you had to choose between Sanchez and Kun, who would you give the armband to for this gw? Cheers!

Burnt by sanchez far far too many times so it would be aguero for me

Hmm, maybe this time Sanchez will not disappoint? But yeah, Kun needs to score and with the return of KDB, things might get better 🙂

Have both, dont have much faith in either but sure both of them could get hatty's or blank. aguero safer option I suppose purely because of pens

WC32 - leading ML by 20 pts so not going all out with DGWers - but see some risk in defence for sure to afford strong front 8

    Robles, Darlow
    Gabriel, Simpson, Sakho, Reid, B
    Mahrez, Payet, Ozil, Sanchez, A
    Aguero, Lukaku, Kane

    10.5M total for A+B
    A - Lennon, Lanzini, Antonio?
B - Huth, Rojo, Janmaat, other?

Currently on Lennon, Huth (spending exactly 10.5M)

A for sure, I'm not sure Rojo will play both. Fuchs better option than Huth, too imo.

For Fuchs I would need to go Antonio or Lanzini

So I guess I should have asked:

        1. Lennon + 4.9 (Huth)
        2. Antonio + 5.0 (Fuchs)
        3. Lanzini + 5.6

Just pulled the trigger on WC. God the relief.

    Robles // Darlow (if nailed)

    Reid // Rojo // Sakho // Fuchs // Koscielny

    Sanchez // Ozil // Antonio // Firmino // Mahrez

    Aguero // Kane // Lukaku

    0.0m ITB

    WC GW32

    TC Lukaku in GW 33

    BB GW34

    12 DGWers

10 Players for GW35 but will have 2 FT’s to play around with to start planning for GW37

Haha ! can’t wait to get mine out of the way ! Looks good, nice having Sanchez in there, he’s the only one that I don’t have that really worries me.

Here’ what I’m on at the moment and my plan.

      Robles / Darlow

      Monreal Bellerin Dann Clichy Sakho

      Lennon Payet Mahrez Ozil Firmino

      Lukaku Kane Aguero

      0.4 ITB

      GW 33 4 x dgw + Lukaku TC - save FT

      GW 34 Kane > Sturrdige 14 x DGW + BB + carry 1 FT

      GW 35 Dann > Azpi + carry 1 FT

GW 36 2 FT to play and bar injury / suspensions on 8 DGW players

      GW 37 10 DGW players

Could reserve the option to play TC in GW37 either.

        Looks good KDR!
If I knew Clichy was 100% nailed for both games I'd be very tempted to have him over Rojo could get the monies by downgrading Fuchs to Simpson. You have me thinking now.....

Fuchs to Simpson and then maybe Rojo to Clichy or Sagna ?

    One week punt

    1) Alderweireld, Alli -> Bellerin, Willian
    2) Alderweireld, Siggy -> Bellerin, Fabragas
    3) Alderweireld, Siggy, -> Ivanovic, Willian
    4) Alderweireld, Siggy, -> Ivanovic, Oscar

Kia ora all, have been a little bit absent from FPL over the last month and have had my lead cut in all my MLs over this time, so looking to make the most of the upcoming fixtures! My plans for the next 4 GWs are outlined below, but struggling with a few decision, so would love some advice if possible...Have already used my 2nd WC, and have my BB and TC left...

    Current Team from GW31:
    Forster // Hennessey
    Alderweireld // Bellerin // Daniels // Fuchs // Targett
    Ozil // Alexis // Payet // Mahrez // Alli
    Kane // Aguero // Vardy

    Planned GW 32 moves, 2FTs:
Currently unsure, but will be an enabling move, possibly Daniels or Fuchs  Ward/Delaney/Sourae/Simpson (ie a DGW player or cheaper Lei defender)

    Planned GW33 moves, 2FTs:
Kane (or Aguero) --> Lukaku (C)

    Planned GW 34 moves, 2FTs:
    Forster --> Mignolet
    Mahrez/Alli --> Firmino

    Planned GW 35 Moves, 1FT:
Lukaku --> Kane (could be short of funds at this point)
    (or Payet --> Mahrez??)

My concerns – should I get rid of Kane at all, I mean he is on form at the moment, and could outscore Lukaku even with his DGWs, maybe getting rid of Aguero is better (but then he has his DGW). Also, not sure who I should lose out of Mahrez and Alli (Mahrez is easier to replace, don’t have to pound stretch) – would really love some advice, does what I’m planning make sense or if I’m way off course…

Is anyone confused/undecided about CPL players in these dgwks?

    Do I want them?
If so, who and how many (they do have great fixtures in 33 afterall)?
If I get 2, it leaves me with 7 players for the blank 35.

    Anyone else in this position?
