Harry Kane and Dele Alli both score twice as Tottenham run riot at the Britannia. The north London side rack up their fourth clean sheet in five to close the gap on Leicester at the top of the table.

Kane and Alli at the double

Tottenham Hotspur closed the gap to five points at the summit of the Premier League with a thumping 4-0 win over Stoke City.

Harry Kane punished over 200,000 Fantasy managers that shipped him out across the previous fortnight, bagging his third brace in five outings. The Lilywhites’ talismanic frontman has amassed five more shots on target (18) than any forward in his last six starts and is leading an attack that’s bagged 13 goals in five matches. With some tempting fixtures to follow (WBA, che, SOU, new), many will now be looking to re-acquire Kane for the run-in.

Similarly, Dele Alli had nearly 100,000 managers lamenting their decision to cash in on a midfielder that delivered attacking returns (three goals, four assists) in five of his last six fixtures. The 6.2-priced England international currently ranks joint-third among all midfielders for total score (162) this campaign, underlining his immense value.

Mousa Dembele and Erik Lamela grabbed assists, while Christian Eriksen turned provider for two of the visitors’ strikes. The latter’s Fantasy value is well-documented, but Lamela is also worthy of consideration, given that he’s upped his output (one goal and two assists in two) and has fired seven shots inside the box in his last four starts.

Investors in Spurs’ rearguard profited from their fourth clean sheet in five match-ups. Tottenham next host a West Bromwich Albion outfit that posted three blanks in their past quartet of fixtures, so Mauricio Pochettino’s troops will fancy their chances of securing another shut-out.

Potters battered at the Britannia

Stoke City lay claim to a solitary win in six matches following their second successive heavy defeat.

The Potters shipped 10 goals in their last trio of outings and have mustered one clean sheet in 12, negating the appeal of their defensive assets. At the other end of the pitch, Marko Arnautovic (10 goals five assists) harbours some promise, yet Stoke’s mixed schedule (mci, SUN, cry, WHU) and absence of a double Gameweek diverts attention away from the Austria international. Xherdan Shaqiri is an early doubt for the weekend after he was forced off at the break with a hamstring complaint.

Hibbert steps up Toffees recovery

Tony Hibbert clocked 45 minutes for Everton’s U21 outfit as they ran out 1-0 victors over Manchester City.

With Jagielka and Seamus Coleman both likely to sit out the Merseyside derby, there’s a possibility that Hibbert – at a price of just 3.9 in FPL –could receive a call to action at Anfield. Alternatively, Roberto Martinez might opt to reinstate Leighton Baines (if fit) at left-back and swap Bryan Oviedo onto the opposite flank. Nonetheless, given that Everton have home clashes against Bournemouth and Norwich on either side of their double Gameweek 37, Hibbert could be worth monitoring if the Toffees injury worries in defence fail to improve.

Wilshere scores for Gunners reserves

Jack Wilshere continued his recovery from injury by finding the net in a 2-1 reserve loss to West Brom.

Wilshere could be on course for a return to top-flight at some point before the end of the season, then, after Arsene Wenger confirmed he will need “three or four games” at this level before being considered for the first-team squad. Whilst the upcoming clashes against West Brom and Sunderland look likely to come too soon, the Gunners’ final two home matches, against Norwich and Villa in Gameweeks 36 and 38 respectively, could allow Wenger the chance to hand him some minutes in the centre of the park.

Have 11 players GW35 but that includes Moreno and Coutinho. I feel like I need some insurance, and Lingard or Martial seems the most logical exit routes.

    Thoughts on options below?

    A) Lingard > King
    B) Martial > Pelle/Defoe
    C) Cut rotation worries at the root cause with Moreno > Kirchoff/PVA

I'd be looking at Lingard to Alli but you have 3 Spurs. In your case, Martial to Defoe and Lingard to Mane (-4) seems like the way forward

Expecting Coutinho and Moreno both to not feature then?

Yea really depends on the team sheet tomorrow for Liverpool I guess. Trying to avoid a hit if possible so thought I could just use 1 FT.

Oh Mane Mane Mane...i once said "never again"

Thanks, Mane would be a bit of a stretch...especially for a hit. Would need to add that to the options. Cheers TFF.

A looks fine cause King is in form but his problem is Bournemouth is on vacation and Wilson is coming back.

I would get rid of Manchester players as they don't create enough. I was hoping for a change against AV but they were just poor.

      So.. I would go A plus B2.

Just checked that I may get

    worth it for -8?

I'm afraid waiting 2 or 3 days for that transfers may just be too late anyway as Kane and Alii are going up , so there are 2 concerns.

But It is only GW 36 i suppose which is a problem. there are 5 days between 35 and their 1 leg SF. He should play and still get proper rest.

Its Studge we are talking about. There is no proper timeframe for his rest. Unfortunatelly. Too much rotation in LIV and i own three of them. Sad times.

            My second option is:
Kane, Alli, Rose for Martial, Coutinho, Fosu

I know the risk with Studge. But I need to do something as I'm chasing... the guy has about 30 points more, Kane, 1ft, the same midfield and similar defence.

I think he'll take Alli or Tottenham defender.

I am really surprised I only dropped 13k places without any Spurs-players involved (down to 36k OR).

My second team (funny to call it the second team when it is in front of my first team) only had Alli and stayed put on about 19k OR. Seems like quite a few had 2 (or even 3) Spurs-players around the top 20k mark.

I need to do some spring cleaning on my GW35 team. Who needs to go?

(** indicates no game in GW35, but a DGW in GW37)

    DDG** - Robles**
    Sakho - Fosu-Mensah** - Gabriel - Bellerin - Simpson
    Coutinho - Sanchez - KDB - Payet** - Lanzini **
    Aguero - Mitrovic - Martial **

KDB and Aguero have just one day's rest before the CL semi. Coutinho is being heavily rotated. Lanzini isn't nailed on. What do you think?

Most important to get in now is probably Kane (for Martial) and Alli.

Thinking ahead to next week, how do I fix this shitfest?

    Mignolet / Robles
    Smalling / Bellerin / Lovren / Simpson / Walker
    Sanchez / Coutinho / Payet / Lanzini / Iwobi
    Aguero / Martial / Lukaku
    1FT, 0.2 ITB

I was thinking swapping Martial and Lukaku for Defoe and Kane for a 4 pt hit. Bit worried about my Liverpool players though as rotation is going to happen again.

Way too much reliance on arsenal/liverpool. Id do Ozil > Alli to free up some budget, and then could you get Kane in for Carrol?

Kane isn't going to rise by 0.2m before Saturday, he might go up 0.1 by then but not 0.2 and Martial is closer to a rise as it stands. If he smashes it tomorrow then he could rise before Kane

bring in Kane imo Man united don't play for goals like spurs do and if the race for leading goalscorer is getting close then the Spurs players will most likely be looking to give the ball to Kane as much as possible and now that United wont win the league I think that they are going to turn there attention to the FA Cup so that may mean another 15 minute cameo of the bench again

Am I the only one planning on using bench boost for last weekend of the season? I used my second wildcard almost straight away but was able to get enough DGW players in (I think, kept Alli + Kane and a few others that were in form) - now I'm able to build towards the second DGW but again the fixtures don't look good enough to put BB on...the last weekend however i would have a full team (includign bench) playing teams like villa, bournemouth, west brom, stoke, swansea and palace, so looks the best option.

At least with a DGW you've got the comfort of knowing that nailed on players at least will start once. Plus teams usually have a bit more to play for in GW37 than in 38.

There may be rotation if some teams have nothing to play for, or conversely, other teams are preparing for a European Final.

      Something to consider anyway.

    3. BROOKLYN GOONER
      • 15 Years
      10 years, 3 months ago

It's something to consider. Even if you find 11 killer DG'ers for 37, if you can put out a gw38 bench that's stronger and more secure to start that your 37 bench, then 38 is the time to do it.

I am definitely. If Liverpool and City progress, the only ones that would concern me would be Liverpool players, as the Europa final is on the 18th May, whereas Champions League Final isn't til the 28th May so rotation no issue for City.

        I went from having 2fts with quality Spurs/Leicester assets 2 Arsenal/Otamendi/Macca
        to migs/Sahko/Cout/Lennon/Bola(33)/Lanzini/Lukaku/Mitro.
        350 > 1150 now tho I've s few to go.

I know its very early but Was just tinkering with a possible wildcard team for 36 and wanted some thoughts about it....
The core with 5DGW players would be

    Hart/Gomes
    Smalling/Bellerin/Walker
    Sanchez/Alli/Payet
    Kane/Lukaku

Then I filled the team with cheap but nailed on players with doubles and came up with this alongwith 5m ITB

    Hart/Gomes
    Smalling/Bellerin/Walker/Cressell*/PVA*
    Sanchez/Alli/Payet/Barkley*/Lanzini*
    Kane/Lukaku/Ighalo*

Which of the * players would you upgrade with the 5m... I really want to avoid too many Liverpool and city players but wouldn't mind 1 or max 2..., Cheers
