We move to Group F for the day’s remaining clashes, focusing on four teams which have created a fascinating scenario after the first round of matches.

This evening’s game pitches Hungary against Iceland, two nations who exceeded expectations in their opening match-ups.

The Hungarian’s victory over Austria puts them in a prime position: earn a victory over group outsiders Iceland and they will book their path to the knock-out phase.

Their opponents will be no push-overs, however. They will have been hugely encouraged by the unlikely point earned against Portugal and, having weathered the tide against Ronaldo and company, will go into the meeting with Hungary with the confidence to get further points on the board.

Iceland enjoyed just 27% possession against Portugal and mustered just four shots on goal – only Northern Ireland registered fewer in the opening matches. By contrast, Hungary produced 14 goal attempts, firing seven on target, suggesting that they have the firepower to come out on top.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

not sure, some people say before quarters is the best time

however you get 4 free transfers? Could do a -4 and get 5 free ones which should be more than enough (as you would expect to do somewhat ok for a wc in r16 right?)

I'm not, if we look at each group favourites:

      A) France 6 points; Play Switserland 4 points. So they will be satisfied with a draw but can't afford to lose so won't expect the whole team to be rotated + we can see the line-ups from their team

      B) England 4 points vs Slowakia 3 points. They will need to win to claim that first spot with Wales also on 3 points. Don't expect too many rotation there.

      C) Germany and Poland both on 4 points. Germany have limited options at the back so don't think they'll rotate there. Maybe the less important players like Götze and Draxler will be rested to give Schürrle/Gomez a chance to prove themselves.

      D) Spain will probably rotate some of their players since they also have top quality players on the bench. I fear for players like Juanfran, Alba, Nolito and Morata tbh. Croatia probably won't rotate that much since they will like to claim that 2nd spot or maybe even the first one.

      E) Italy will probably rotate a lot, certainly in their defence with many yellow cards as well there. Belgium won't rotate anything would be guess.

      F) Still a game that needs to be played so not sure what will happen there

F cannot be won this round, as the teams that still play have 0 and 1 points respectively, so most certainly Portugal will not rotate. Regardless the result tonight, come GW3, their opponent will have at least as many points as them, and they can still disqualify from the knock outs if they lose (although I have not counted whether there can be 4 better 3rd placed teams if Portugal finishes at 4 points, I just assume that if they finish 3rd, they can still disqualify).

Indeed, so except for Spain, not many rotation, so a wildcard seems pretty useless now for me. If I had wildcarded before this week I would have probably sold Hamsik since I didn't like his position on the field the first game. And boom he scores 10 points this week 😀

*Italy. Spain plays for the group win against Croatia, although as you said, with their material, they could as well rotate for every match.

Who are the must haves for the GW3?

              Oh yea Italy as well.

Well I'm not sure yet. Milik seems like a good pick, so does Germany defence. I quite fancy Belgium as well against this Sweden so far. I fancy some goals in Portugal vs Hungary as well.

Nolito, Payet, Giroud, Rami, Juanfran are the main concerns in my team but we can see the French line-up so depending on which position I have few players, I will probably see who to bring in.

I don't see Payet and Rami as concerns. Particularly Rami must play. Why? Deschamps wants to take the every chance to have his defence play together before the big games.

Well you might be right there. Do you think a FT is invested better in defence with many teams settling for a draw? Or better invested in middfielders/attackers due to some teams resting some of their better players?

Haven't given it much thought yet. At first glance I think my team might need to be WCded. Lots of players that might not play. I'd rather save though. I'll give it some thought later.

Sanches, Junuzovic, Denayer, even Kane not looking great. I'll give it some thought after the game, but at the moment I'm thinking of doing 2 transfers and saving the WC for later. Not sure what to expect from the price changes, though...

Aye. I'm applying the same logic that I thought UFPL should do.

A few got Alli for 5.0 in August and did well (not me)..then the rest of the game got him in the Jan transfer window for the same price....He should have been much, much more...

        9 years, 9 months ago

        See above. Yes possibly.

I really can't quits see why the game makers would deem it worthwhile if they were only going to make nominal changes. I could be wrong but that's my take on it.

No...they take effect after the group stage. They may well do a total rejigger of whatever algorithm they use to revalue the game...it seems like a lot of trouble to go to just for minor tweaks.

            What do you think?....

France hasn't won the group yet, so they have to at least draw against Switzerland. If they win the group, they'll have a whole week of rest before their next match, so if they rest Payet he will not have played for 10 days, which could have a rather negative effect to his form.

How wasn't Vierinha dropped? Cedric surely deserves a chance, Vierinha offered absolutely nothing and was at fault for Iceland's goal.

Haven't seen today's matches or been on here.
48 points with Alaba (c) -- not very good, I take it?
