The current lull in Euro 2016 action allows us to focus on domestic matters once again as we roll out the first in a series of pre-season members articles that evaluate the performance levels of each individual team over the 2015/16 campaign.

Kicking off with Arsenal, we analyse the team data to get a perspective on their season in comparison to 2014/15 in a bid to spot trends and improvements. We then focus on their squad, assessing goal threat and creativity for all the key individuals in a bid to put some priority on potential targets for the forthcoming campaign.

      Quite possibly 🙂

A decent striker is needed first though. If they get that I'd put them as favourites

Some steel at the back and a decent finisher required.

Benefits will become clearer as we near the season kick off. We just published a first members only article and we'll have one of those every other day from now on.

Projections and RMT will also be available once the player list is published. Many find those useful/fun to tinker with.

As TM mentions, there's a lot of footage showing the members benefits here...

How long before opening are FPL Towers usually making that new fpl home page ?
Any chance they are always putting that new home page like 7days before planned opening, just to start the conversation here about players and their prices so they could adjusted them, make it optimal?

    Cazorla a dark horse imo

might get some set pieces, still on pens atm and Arsenal's attack got noticeably weaker when he got injured

6.0 still a lot for limited attacking threat, but might be good in the BAPs

Premium defender tough this year I reckon

          Chelsea
          United
          City
          Arsenal
          Spurs
          Leicester

Everton could be worth a look with those fixtures

Conte's Italy were ridiculously impressive in the Euros. I was definitely biased but I found watching them play really fascinating!

If he can translate that style and passion to Chelsea, I'll be in love with the man haha. Think Spurs will be very gd again also. Need a backup for Kane, but can see them improving still

All kinds of differing reports. In my opinion, he's either gonna take a break and come back mid-qualifiers, or he's going to revert the decision now. Definitely not retiring for good.

Interested about Aguero, Banega, Mascherano and their futures too. Especially the first two, as Masche is getting old and Kranevitter should start prepping to fill his boots.

So apart from Pep, KdB, Silva and Aguero, who have City got that folk reckon they'll be big challangers? I thought there was doubts over the spine of the team:

    Hart - poor recently
    Kompany - injuries
    Zabaleta - age
    Yaya - getting on
    Silva - same

So likes of Navas, Sterling, Nasri to come good? Or transfers in?

Nolito has been a very understated transfer. Pretty sure he created the most chances in Liga BBVA last season, for a team like Celta too. Top three in chances created for sure. That speaks volumes about a player who's in a league with Ronaldo, Messi, Bale, Neymar, Suarez, Kroos, Iniesta, Koke, Griezmann...

I think most of those players aren't our spine anymore. Zabaleta has been replaced. Yaya will probably ride the bench or get sold. Silva was class at the Euros but he's still losing it.

Right now, I think Kompany, Fernandinho, KDB, and Kun are the spine of this team. Hart too but he's been shaky recently.

This lineup looks very likely. I'd also give a shout to Sterling starting on the right, and a potential Sane signing. I think Gundogan, Fernandinho, KDB, and Aguero will be nailed on. The rest will be rotated between Nolito, Sterling, Silva, Sane, and potentially Toure (if we revert to 4-3-3).

I would put my house on Arsenal playing:

    --------Xhaka-----Cazorla--------
    Ramsey-----Ozil-----Sanchez
    ---------------Welbeck-------------

When they are all fit (never).

If he wants to play Giroud then i think Welbeck will go LW, Sanchez will move to the RW (where is much better) but then Ramsey may shift to CM to give Xhak / Caz a rest.

Like i say though, injuries will decide it more than Wenger actually planning it i imagine. Ramsey/Welbeck in particular cant do a full season.

Xhaka alone isn't defensive enough and he won't sit on the bench.

I think Xhaka and Cazorla's skill sets are too similar. Coq and Cazorla worked because effectively because one defended, and Cazorla transitioned the play. Xhaka will come in, and what he does is transition the play from deep. (Like Alonso, although not as well) This means that Cazorla would be forced into a role that he's never played. We would also need the compliment Xhaka's slightly lesser defensive instincts with Ramsey.

Xhaka in my mind, it effectively an Arteta replacement. And Wenger tried to replace Arteta with Cabaye a couple years ago.

I can't see how Cazorla and Xhaka could work.

      -----Xhaka---Cazorla-----------
      Walcott-----Ozil------Sanchez
      -----------Giroud------------------

Walcott 140k a week hardly going to be out of Wenger's plans and he's had a whole summer to work hard and get ready for a potentially career defining season.

Unless were going to change formations to accommodate one of either Ramsey or Wilshere, I can't see this changing.

He's going to be even harder to resist. You have to think that Mane has been brought to add goals primarily.

Pre-season will tell us more. The choice in Liverpool's midfield is tricky - lots of talent and will depend on the system Klopp plays.

I'd say Tomkins and Dann are going to be the partnership - that looks very solid and both have a threat from set-plays which Pardew will play to.

Townsend offers a consistent supply with a possible 10 goal return on one flank, with Bolasie the jack in a box on the opposite side.

Many are dismissing Benteke as a waste of money but a decent centre forward looks to be the final piece in a very effective looking jigsaw.

Benteke probably isn't worth the fee but, back as a big fish, he could flourish as he did at Villa.

Reluctantly, I have to admit that Pardew could be putting together a very decent side with plenty of Fantasy promise.

Agreed, & Palace averaged the most crosses & long-balls per game last season. Custom fit for a target-man like Benteke to make the most out of it in Pardew's system.

I currently own Muller and Bale. Lukaku to transfer out.

Leading rival by 20 points and they have Giroud - therefore feel I need to get him to cover.

Also surely Ronaldo is the captaincy option for day 1?

Thinking of getting both Giroud and Ronaldo. Have 6 players to replace but if I go with this strategy will just leave the banned Ramsey in.

      Thoughts?
