Fantasy managers brace themselves for the penultimate match of Euro 2016 as France and Germany go head-to-head in Marseille at 8pm.

There’s little between the pair as they lock horns for a place in Sunday’s final against Portugal, after Fernando Santos’ side defeated Wales 2-0 last night.

France have won four and drawn one of their five fixtures so far, netting at least twice on four occasions. The 5-2 quarter-final demolition of Iceland ensured that Les Bleus entered the last four as the top-scoring team in the tournament.

Germany, though, showed their mettle by defeating Italy on spot-kicks last time out and, having conceded just a single goal, boast the best defence in Euro 2016.

Joachim Low’s side were equally impressive at the other end of the pitch – they sat joint-top for attempts on goal in the opening five matches and led the way for shots inside the box. Despite netting just seven times to France’s 11, then, the World Champions will be confident of breaching a backline that’s conceded three times against Republic of Ireland and Iceland over their last two matches.

worth taking a hit to get those eleven men on the field?

    Team for semi's:

    Henn / Neuer
Hector / Rami (don't ask me why i changed him from Umiti -.-) / Guerreiro / Fonte / A. Williams
    Payet / Özil / Kroos / Draxler / Allen
    Muller / Griezmann / Bale

    After my 6FT

    Lloris
    Rami / Gurreiro / Fonte / Koc
Payet / Pogba / Matuidi or Sissoko(?)
    Griezmann / Gruuu / Ronaldo

    What whould you do?

The "After" scenario seems to indicate 11 playing players in an acceptable formation or am I reading this wrong?

You are right, atm with Rami out (can't see him play after Umtitis game today) i'm down to 10.

Rami just might start to counter the perceived aerial threat; definitely wait to see the line-ups. At the end of the day, -4 is almost never worth it but if you are chasing and it's close then why not, you might end up looking like a genius when you take a hit to bring in Pepe who heads in the winning goal. 😉

Bacca 80 goals in his last 4 seasons. Brugge, Sevilla x2, Milan. Pure finisher, just what we need. Tore a decent winger, bad tempermant, more of an assister, just what we don't need tbh. Will probably play on the left with Payet in the middle at the start because Lanzini at Olympics.

Missed the first couple of group stage matches this tourney. Curious, how well was Greasemann rated on here early on in the tourney (or before the tourney)? Was he a highly-owned casuals pick for the most part until he started performing?

He was in plenty in the early drafts then gradually fell in favour as people realised the price difference between him and Giroud. This afforded Muller which was a huge success

This UEFA game's a bloody nonsense. Why am I only allowed to recruit a miserly eight Portuguese players into my final team? I don't want any deux point Frenchmen clogging up the place - I just want winners.

Thought I was in with a chance of a top 10 place in the Scout league until I saw that ridiculous restriction.

couldn't agree more, he is completely opposite of what the Utd successful era was about. He won't win the league but could challenge and win a trophy or two but I think Utd will be left in a real bad state when he leaves, which will prob be in a year or two

He'll stay pretty long-term IMO (I think at least 5-6 years for sure)..this is the club he's always really wanted to be at..and he won't be working with the same kind of autocratic execs he's had to butt heads with at the likes of Real and Chelsea

The logic dictates they should be devastated; they don't go and shop for a new manager when the team is not performing, theirs is just not that kind of a club. They do things differently. Another manifestation of this philosophy is their tendency to field mostly lads from their own academy: De Gea, Martial, Blind, Rojo, Herrera, Darmian, Shaw, Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, Mata and the likes. Other clubs always end up having to buy success; the rags create their own, as they are different.

Thrilled. Always liked him, but also acknowledge he has personality flaws (Eva-gate). That being said, I'm not some fool that holds footballers and managers to a higher standard.

He has brought the swagger back to the club after two highly mediocre managerial stints post-Fergie and I can say quite confidently that we would not have Ibra or Mkhi without him AND that the Pogba conversation would have never progressed from the pages of the Sun and Express.

For sure he has the star pull and always gets silverware. He's a whinging precious egomaniac though. Sure he'll spend crazy money on quality players and challenge for titles but he'll foster a toxic atmosphere at the club. From the academy to the back room staff to the board. All that matters to mourinho is personal accolades.
It will be an exciting time but will take some cleaning up

He didn't foster a toxic atmosphere at Porto or Inter Milan.. so assuming this is something that will happen is nonsense quite frankly.. no surprise that the two clubs he left in Madrid and Chelsea he was never in total control and constantly undermined by those above who know nothing of the game of football.. this will not be a problem at United.. the Glazers will let him get on with his job and providing he does that and achieves what is expected of him then happy days..

I speculate that its because he's never been in a losing position at Inter or Porto but when he hits a rut he doesn't have the temperament to stay and get out of it. Arsenal have been 10th in December recently, Fergie was once 9th in December but they both kept at it and salvaged top 4 places from it. whereas Jose resorts to constructive dismissal of the team doctor and quits when it gets bad for him. He's great til he's not then he's got to be got rid of ASAP.

Certainly an element of truth in this.. he certainly doesn't handle a tough time well.. certainly not at Chelsea 2nd time around for sure.. recall him losing his first El Classico 5-0 to Barca and was rightly slaughtered left right and centre but bounced back to win the league eventually and top arguably the best club side of all time.. as for the second stint at Chelsea maybe he will learn a lot from that.. simply not used to losing very much they chap

That is true and that must have hurt, but there was first season grace and he was only 2 points behind Barca at that point so he was still in a title race.

Idk, we'll see. 3/4 years down the line if you guys get off to a bad start, I'd chop off the hand to save the arm.

True I'd rather have Mata than Mane in my team and I don't see your valuation too far off, but yeah I was just generally commenting on 4 years as a long time in football. 4 years ago Scott Parker, Glenn Johnson, Steven Gerrard and Ashley Cole were first choice players at the last Euros!

if we have to sell, I'd love for him to stay in England tho

I am in a ML with a big price at stake. Second atm with nine points up to first. Will still win a decent price if I end up second but first will mean to double the amount. I am four points ahead of third which will half my price and so on until fifth. What would you do and which team would you put out? Got 6 portugese (4 defenders ( Patricio, Cedric, Fonte, Guerreiro) , Sanches and Ronaldo) and 4 french ( Lloris, Sagna, Payet, Griezmann). Thoughts appreciated.

As much as I love Pep, I'd love big Sam to hold him to a draw with a proper 1930s welcome to English football.

Just a bit more on Neymar and his value, this is the FIFPro 2015 World XI and their current ages in brackets

    Neuer (30)
    Alves (33), Ramos (30), Thiago Silva (31), Marcelo (28)
    Iniesta (32), Modric (30), Pogba (23)
    Messi (29), Ronaldo (31), Neymar (24)

With the exception of Neymar, everyone else on that list is at least 5 years older than Neymar and in the attacking six Iniesta is 9 years older than Pogba. He's already been voted as one of the best 11 players in the world by 40,000 other professionals and is the youngest player on that list. Going by an average top player's trajectory, he's probably got another 7 or 8 years as an absolutely world class player and then still three more years of still being one of the best players in whichever league he's in, if not in Europe. For rich teams with Champions League winning ambitions, only the very best players will do and £100m for a projected 8 year period of being world class actually works out at quite an easy £12.5m per year. If you buy Modric at 30, £100m it makes way less sense because you've got way less time to get the value out of him to repay your outlay but for the world's best 23 year old, it's been the going rate since Ronaldo and Bale made their moves.

As for whether or not a club should pay that much money, if you look at the amortised cost, £12.5m + wages is easily affordable for a club who turnover almost half a billion pounds per year. Heck even £100m up front isn't even too much of a stretch for a club making that much money and then you've got Pogba with only wages to pay from then on. Do clubs have too much money to spend? Well there's millions and millions of us who shell out hundreds and hundreds of pounds each year to watch sport on TV and local fans who spend millions and millions on matchday tickets and food and VIP boxes over the course of a season. Its a professional sport, we pay them money to watch their sport, its not as if they rigged LIBOR or ran a ponzi scheme to make their money. If you want good honest local sport, go to your local park on a weekend but this is pro sport and its going to make money as long as its entertaining.

Oh man, complete slip in the first sentence saying Neymar rather than Pogba 😆

Still Neymar's worth about £100m too!

      Well put.

But Neymar appears to be worth €190M, don't know what that's in pounds these days.

How many points are you guys approx. on? Used to come here quite a bit during the 14/15 season for advice, etc and did really well by my standards (top 70k finish). Now wondering if my score is somewhat acceptable to the rest here. Currently on 307 points. Keeping Muller from start to finish really hurt.

Ah nice! A bit behind then, but I'll take it. Had a pretty shocking group stage but been coming back in the past few games.
