Fantasy managers brace themselves for the penultimate match of Euro 2016 as France and Germany go head-to-head in Marseille at 8pm.

There’s little between the pair as they lock horns for a place in Sunday’s final against Portugal, after Fernando Santos’ side defeated Wales 2-0 last night.

France have won four and drawn one of their five fixtures so far, netting at least twice on four occasions. The 5-2 quarter-final demolition of Iceland ensured that Les Bleus entered the last four as the top-scoring team in the tournament.

Germany, though, showed their mettle by defeating Italy on spot-kicks last time out and, having conceded just a single goal, boast the best defence in Euro 2016.

Joachim Low’s side were equally impressive at the other end of the pitch – they sat joint-top for attempts on goal in the opening five matches and led the way for shots inside the box. Despite netting just seven times to France’s 11, then, the World Champions will be confident of breaching a backline that’s conceded three times against Republic of Ireland and Iceland over their last two matches.

Did Muller even get a proper shot away this Euros? I tipped him to be topscorer and captained him every chance I got. 😆

22 shots and no goals but wouldn't have been talked of much.. better to slate Ronaldo after 3 goals and 3 assists on route to final

There's always going to be more pressure on Ronaldo though, if you look at the two teams. If Muller doesn't perform, there are plenty of guys with the quality to step up (clearly not tonight). But with Portugal all eyes are on Ronaldo. He hasn't been great, but definitely pulled them through that decisive game vs Hungary.

Oh yeah you're right he did! Post and crossbar against Northern Ireland. The guy is usually such a goalscorer from any position, really surprised me he has been so, so poor, but it's probably been discussed plenty of times here already haha.

yeah I'm with you there, he's definitely been poor/unlucky by his standards and couldn't do the job needed when relied on as the CF either. Who knows if it'd have been different if he had Gomez to pair with in the first and last games of the tournament.

Good thing I waited until after the Brexit vote to renew my membership. Saved at least a couple of Canadian dollars with the exchange rate.

          Payet, Pogba and sack Giroud?

I wouldn't but I can see why some would and it allows you to have Nani alongside Ronnie and Griezz.

Is there a download-able version of the ticker? Last season I was able to copy & paste the FFS ticker into Excel quite easily, colours and all. That came in handy when working out my defensive rotation. I can understand why FFS doesn't want it to be easily distributed, but this is only for my own purposes...

Apart from the FFS ticker, is there anyone with a spreadsheet version of the schedule that would be willing to share?

    Thanks!

Draft leagues are going to absolutely insane this year, surplus of talent joining & a lot of fodder leaving. Key-signings for teams like Crystal Palace who now have some viable options in attack (mere than last year at least), West Ham having other good alternatives in attack to Payet (& Antonio),etc.

How do draft leagues work Zasa? always see them talked about

        • 12 Years
        10 years, 4 days ago

Nidge they're great craic. 10-20 of you in a league taking players one by one but each player can only be picked by one manager. So only one gets Zlatan, one gets Aguero, one gets Hazard etc. then in the later rounds somebodys nicked the Chelsea and United defences and you're fighting over Craig Dawson and John Stones.

        1. KingNidge
          • 10 Years
          10 years, 4 days ago

Ha that sounds right up my street do you boys run one? do you bid on players or take turns choosing? and how do transfers work? etc

            • 12 Years
            10 years, 4 days ago

Most take turns and whoever picks first in round one picks last in round two to even it up, but there are some auction games where you each get £100m then the players are auctioned off one by one. Aguero then goes for £30-40m then that guy has to be super shrifty to get a squad out as he can't afford to drop another 20-30m on another player.

Transfers work either by making an agreement with an opposition player or there's the free agency pool where you drop any player you want from your squad into a free agency pool and pick up any unowned player in return.

Head Over Heels runs 3 divisions of draft leagues with promotion and relegation etc, I might run one but I'm undecided yet. Can I get your email in case I do?

              Hey Balders,

If you end up running a draft league, I'd be interested. You might put me in the "I have no idea who you are" category, too. If so, no worries. But I'm in HOH's league (I actually won the 3rd division and got promoted to 2nd), so I'm reliable and part of that group of guys.

              Cheers.

Nah I know who you are even if I don't see and talk to you all the time, well done on winning Div 3 of K&N! I'm in Div 2 so I looking forward to coming up against you next season and by the way sticking the course for last season's K&N is a big plus for reliability in my book. I'm not promising anything because of course places are limited in draft leagues and I have an idea of who I want to invite already, but I'll ask HOH for your email if I'm still looking for places down the line.

If your draft site has 15 slots (most do I think?) then 15 managers is a LOT. Just remember, that means that the last pick of the draft has selected the 225th available player..lol

60 players is a hell of a lot to be fair! (had my league done 11)

my issue with this is at a certain point you're getting so threadbare that an injury means you're not even bringing in players that start haha

Pretty much, every manager in your league picks a team of 'unique' players in The Draft. Only one player can be picked by each manager, so Hazard's exclusive to you & Costa tō me. It's turn-based with each manger picking a player every round until everyone has a full XI. Throughout the season you can trade your players with other managers (there's no budgets btw, it's up to you to decide whether Siggy + Firmino is worth a trade for Payet) & pickup players that everyone ignored called free-agents.

You have to pick an XI each week & it's pretty much like FPL with formations & benchings (no captaincy, usually). Your league Admin makes all the rules also & whether you have 6 players starting or 9 all depends on how many managers there are as by the time you get to final round in The Draft you run the risk of running out of players to pick from 😆

Rest are rules varying between each league bar a few things pointed out. It's a lot of fun mate, definitely should be on the lookout for any. Also, The Draft takes place during a certain time your league decides & you may get 2 hours, or 12 hours to pick your unique player.

I've been playing draft for years KN, somewhat underground are these leagues, Fantrax based is what I'm familiar with and like the posts say 15 players is nice-it normally happens in an email thread and done during the first international break as drafting which is awesome an take easily up to a week, there will be lots of controversy and craic along the way that's for sure-keep your eyes peeled mate.

Might give it a whirl. Agree it is much better to play people you know well. There is nothing worse than people giving up, it can wreck a draft league, especially if the giveuppers give away all their best assets in one sided trades before quitting.
Have had that happen in baseball a few times. Think the best way is to make it a league with entry fee and prizes that go all the way down so that even the bunnies have something to play for

Anyone else find the McDs stagnating, even boring? Seems most are well set up going into last round with 6ft in hand and we are close to 'template city'
I must say I think the format of the game is somewhat easy and I feel it lacks any real bite in terms of fantasy, for me the biggest thing is to stay active and your half way there, keep doing the simple things and your three quarters there, it doesn't really compare to the craft/guile involved in Fpl but maybe it's not meant to be too taxing on the brain!
I think they messed up to giving another 5m (ok cheap players/team emerged) and they weren't drastic or dynamic enough with price changes each round to offset the 'minnows' progressing eg Sanches 4.4 > 6.5; Guerrierro 4.0 > 5.5, Payet 8.0 > 10.0, Griezeman 10.0 > 12.0, etc. They've made it very easy in my opinion and I feel the game is aimed at casuals so they can breathe an air of confidence and smugness with a tinge of 'look at me I'm a good fantasy player and I eat in McDonalds' type of person.
Personally I like my fantasy football with a little more 'meat'

I was just saying this the other day, you get so many transfers.

I don't even think you need a wildcard to be honest. I used mine for MD3, but I really didn't need to. My rival has his to use still, but he has no advantage, as 6 transfers for the final is more than enough. I only really need 4 or 5!

3 FTs in the knockout rounds should have been enough, make people work for ballsing up their progression predictions and make wildcards more valuable.

So much this, I've been able to hedge my 'bets' all the way and now have 5 Fra, 3 Por with 6ft!
Simple maths allowed me avoid having to predict results.
What annoys me most is they introduced price increases which allowed for the minnows but never really used it, I mean 0.1/0.2 rises when form players emerged?
I suggest most on here could run a better format for a Euro fantasy game.

Another thing, but this s not McD's fault, would be if they would actually play more games simultaneously, so that we would actually have to make choices of who to play and could not just go through every single player over a week and see who gets points.

There are good and bad sides to both, of course.

            • 12 Years
            10 years, 4 days ago

Or go with the tried and trusted FPL format of pick an XI with autosubs and one captain rather the daily UFPL player switching.

Works too. But I guess they want to keep people active over all matches for commercial reasons. How many would actually remember they have a team in McD's if they didn't have to go and tweak it every other day?

Tough to say, I'm pretty confident France will score, so will probably avoid Portugal defence, but should we then go with 3-defs only, expecting Cristiano Penaldo to score a consolation goal when his much more sympathetic counter part, the good guy Griezmann, makes the show with a hat trick to match Platini's record in 1 EC rather than 4? 😉

Or are we banking on Penaldo blanking in the final?

So, FPL related, I think that £25M price tag on Wijnaldum should be easily matches by any PL club with the current ridiculous money. Almost a bargain, seen the prices paid recently. So he should be back. How useful would he be for Spurs though? I fear he would start on bench.

I don't believe Redmond is a direct replacement for Mané at Southampton.. Could Wij fit in there? Or even join up with his compatriot at Everton? Surely £30m is a big chunk of Everton's budget gone regardless of new tv deals..

Wait. What £30M? Who did Everton buy?

I heard they were offering £30m for Witsel but it seems after a quick unreliable Google that Chelsea may also be in the race.

Ok. I think Wij at Southampton would be a good choice, but I think I just recently read they're going for somebody else... seemed reliable, can't remember who it was though. 😆

Everton will get £50M-£60M when Pep buys Stones, now that Laporte chose to stay at Athletic. Pep is rumoured also to make City pay another £50M-£60M to Juve for Bonucci, while putting all of Kompany, Otamendi and Mangala on sale. 😆

Fair price for him but aren't Spurs looking at Sissoko?

Just read this morning that Newcastle have told that if Spurs want Wijnaldum, the price is £25M. Which for me suggests that Spurs have been looking to buy Wijnaldum, because it would be a tad odd to tell the price to them otherwise. But maybe they're just calling each PL football director, chairman or manager individually, trying to sell them a bargain only available if ordered by phone.

Fair dos, I think he'd be a good but expensive squad player if he went there. Surely other clubs out there could put him to better use?

I think so too. A bit expensive player to have on bench, but on the other hand, if Spurs want to actually compete in both PL and CL, they will need more than one starting lineup worth of classy players.

If Eriksen and/or Kane go down injured their stuffed in both comps. Great first XI, but threadbare on the bench.

So, they need to buy more good players. Wijnaldum not a bad start. It's not as if only 11 players got to play over a season anyway.

£15M for unproven player, but now he's proved it, should be double easily.

Would Bonucci even want to leave the heart of Juve's defence for Manchester City's ongoing project?

He has a contract worth 3.5m a year for the next 4 years playing in his home country's biggest team and reigning champs.. Manchester isn't that appealing imo. If he leaves it could be for the Pep factor.

How frustrated will Pep be if Bonucci becomes the second player of his choice (after Laporte) who will rather stay where he is than join City? 😆

He'll be left with Stones and Mangala*! 😆

*because nobody will buy Mangala, Kompany and Otamendi can be shopped easily.

There are a few young CBs out there..
Tah and Sule look decent options..

How come nobody big ever comes in for Schar? Always impressed me whenever I saw him.

I quite agree. I can't see why players would leave big clubs to go there but money talks at the end of the day.

      What the guys above said.

Plus, with that much money on table, Juve will beg him to take the offer.
