Up next in our series of members articles, which assess the statistics behind the 2015/16 season, is Watford.

We start off by looking at the Hornets’ team data in Quique Sanchez Flores’ solitary campaign at the helm and compare them to the rest of Premier League. After that, we analyse their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources in an attempt to gain insight on their prospects for the season ahead.

Tipped for the drop by many last time out, the Hornets were quick out the traps and racked up eight wins and five draws in the first 18 Gameweeks. Although Flores’ side failed to maintain momentum over the rest of the season and managed just four victories and as many draws in the final 20 matches, they were never in danger of relegation and ended in thirteenth spot, eight points clear of the bottom three.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Mertesacker out for five months is great news for Arsenal fans. Now the french fool will HAVE to sign a centre back. Of course there's always the chance he's going to sign another mediocre one but let's hope he can sign a good one instead.

Poor Wenger takes so much stick...I feel sorry for the bloke. All I can see is a great team with some great players that most fans in the country would give their back teeth to watch.

I read Cesc's comments about him the other day.....I prefer his opinion of Wenger....nice.

I hear you and I largely agree BUT there comes a point where you have to say, "okay, I actually have to stop bullshitting the fans whom pay so much..."

It's probably worth remembering that just about all their rivals have spent time seriously bombing over the years at times....United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs etc....sometimes seriously as well.

Wenger deserves credit for having kept an even keel of a team for a long time now, and that's not easy...only money bags City can claim similar. His big problem of course has been a lack of trophies of late, but the quality of football at times has been fantastic.

Absolutely fascinating character and situation at Arsenal.

Again, I agree with you (particularly as neither of us are Gunners) but I strongly feel he now needs to be more proactive and aggressive in the market. By all means don't chuck money like the rest but look at a balance. At the very least try and be a bit more transparent with the fans. The Suarez bid summed it up for me.

I think it's still bad news. Wenger will be like 'we've already bought a CB and we have young players mature enought o prove themselves on a top level'.

Worth remembering too that Leroy Fer scored 6 goals in the PL for QPR in 2014/15 and 3 for Norwich the season before that. Great shot on him. He's only 5M and Swansea have a couple of decent opening fixtures.

My gut says to go for Mahrez because he's the only one who's already started pre-season, hasn't had the international games over the summer, etc. But I just don't know how I can leave out KDB or Haz with those opening fixtures they each have.

I'm still not sure if my FF strategy is a bit flawed. I'm probably gonna to go for the Heaton/Foster combo and atm am probably picking Ayew. Even though Burnley have a better GW1 fixture than West Brom - Swansea H vs Palace A - should l start Foster because l have Ayew?

Start whoever you think has the best chance of scoring mist points, regardless if who else is in your team. At least that's what I do. It's probably wrong.

I've now reached that point in the pre-season where I completely rip up my defence and start again in an objective manner.

So far, I think I may start off without any elite defenders. None of them have fixtures that are overly good, and by loosing Shaw I can get something like:

    EVE (5.5 - 5.0), CPL (5.0), MID (4.5), LEI (5.5 - 5.0), WHM or SUN (5.0 or 4.5)

Gives a really nice 5 way rotation up until at least GW8, by which time I'll probably want to WC ayway

Baines is the most passive guy going, not sure how you could fall out with him

    2. A.T
      • 16 Years
      10 years, 1 month ago

Martinez forced Baines to apologise for comments made in the media about there being a lack of spark in the squad. This at the same time Lukaku was telling everyone how great he is and where he'd like to play without reprisal. That was the nail in the coffin for the last few Evertonians, like me, who were prepared to give him time.
He also fell out with Mirallas after the Baines pen fiasco 18 months ago and hardly played him again. Eto was another earlier on, who sussed him quite quickly before an early departure. Distin too although he was a knobb anyway.

    Foster Jakupovic
    Shaw Baines Friend Francis Lowton
    Miki Nolito Ayew Bolasie Feghouli

For GW 3 I would do Ayew to EVE mid. The bad thing is I am screwed if some expensive mid show some form. Would be hard to get him.

My Pool obsessed scouser pal seems to really really think Ings can and might get the nod this year under Klopp. To start the season that is.

He did a poor job of explaining why, other than that Ings is a Klopp type player, and has scored a couple times preseason.

    Liverpool fans?

At what 6m, or 6.5 maybe, isn't he a genuine option?

Starting fifth cheapie mid to come in if not, then a one stop fix for the first cheap third striker who bangs them in week one.

    Cheers
