Up next in our series of members articles, which assess the statistics behind the 2015/16 season, is Watford.

We start off by looking at the Hornets’ team data in Quique Sanchez Flores’ solitary campaign at the helm and compare them to the rest of Premier League. After that, we analyse their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources in an attempt to gain insight on their prospects for the season ahead.

Tipped for the drop by many last time out, the Hornets were quick out the traps and racked up eight wins and five draws in the first 18 Gameweeks. Although Flores’ side failed to maintain momentum over the rest of the season and managed just four victories and as many draws in the final 20 matches, they were never in danger of relegation and ended in thirteenth spot, eight points clear of the bottom three.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Do people think hat Delefeu is nailed of not worth the hassle?

The season hasn't started, very few are 'nailed on' at this stage, certainly not players who were bit part players last year

Koeman liked his wide men, Tadic and Mane mainly, to play beyond the striker, Pelle usually. Delboy and Mirallas offer the same...

Sure, but that doesn't mean they are nailed on, plenty of time for others to be bought or those to be sold or injured

He's on my radar. Hasn't quite shown he's nailed enough for me yet though. All this talk of Arnie or Mata coming in...could ruin his chance of being nailed. As it stands though, I'd say him, Mirallas and Barkley behind Lukaku
I'm torn between him, Redmond and Townsend in that price bracket. Townsend is the only one who's definitely nailed, though I would opt for one of the others in a heartbeat if they were as nailed as him

      Alli -> Erikssen
      Mhik -> Mahrez
      Not sold on Negredo either..
      Love the backline though

Mhik is a good pick, however if you have Ibra. I don't feel as though the Man U double up is worth it when you could swap him to Haz/Mahrez/Ozil to cover other teams.

    Austin/Kun/Gray

    Foster (Pope)
    Gabriel, Shaw, Taylor/Friend (Hoban)
    Mkhi, KDB, Erikson, Towner (Hojbjerg)
    Kun, Luk, Gray

I knew he had potential but I didn't realise quit ehow much

In 31 Bundesliga games last year Mkhitaryan scored 11 and assisted 20. That is attacking returns on average every single game and not even in a duff league.

By comparison Martial also played 31 Premier League games in which he scored 11 and assisted 4 which is attacking returns in slightly under half of the games..

With Martial being young you would expect improvement and with Mkhitaryan being at a new side you might expect some regression. But that is a bigger gam than I thought there was be between the 2 players

OK. So what can we draw from this? Mki will be brought down to a similar level to Martial or Martial will get more returns as well because Manu will be more attacking?

                • 10 Years

A blend of both. Without a doubt Mkhi is a better option if he brings that form over but it's a massive if.

But let's say Martial â…“ better(realistic) he gets 15 goals and 5 assists.

                And Mkhi does â…“ worse(realistic). That's 7 goals and 13 assists.

Now Martial looks much more appealing

I personally don't see Ibra being worth the extra 2.5m, even though he is a world-class player, he is yet to prove himself in the league and had a poor Euros.
On the other hand, Lukaku has been scoring great over the past couple of seasons, and Everton's fixtures are really good after GW1.

One of my favourite drafts that i'm floating with.

    Heaton, Jakupovic.

Also flirting with a 'holy trinity' draft:

      OUT: Jones/Stones, Ayew, Rooney.

      IN: N.Taylor, de Bruyne, Wilson.

      Heaton, Jakupovic.
      Gabriel, N.Taylor, Wollscheid, Francis, Evans.
Sánchez, Hazard, de Bruyne, Mirallas, Fletcher.
      Agüero, Wilson, Negredo.

I really think this new holy trinity thing could be legit this year, you know.

    Thoughts on this?

    Foster (Mandanda)
Terry / Evans / Friend (Funes Mori / Byram)
Hazard / Tadic / Barkley / Eriksen (Capoue)
    Aguero / Lukaku / Rondon
    0.5ITB

In GW 5, I am planning to trade Terry out for a Man City or Tottenham defender, so I can continue to have good rotations in my defence for a few more weeks.
I also plan to change to a 4-3-3 throughout a couple of GW's during the first 4 because of difficult fixtures for Tadic.

there wont be a mahrez who start at 5.5 and scores 200+ pts. but tadic will be gr8 imo, future bandwagon i can see it

Although Routledge has done very nicely preseason I just don't see it transferring to the season. If he was going to score brilliantly I think he would have done it by now.

I think Gradel could hit 10 goals/10 assists this year but agreed that there won't be a Mahrez.

I can see Gradel being owned by loads of teams as the season goes on. Very underrated player in an attacking side.

Dunno about that, don't be so sure.

Mahrez, Ramsey, Chadli, Alli....etc...It's a long list over the years...

Our biggest failings under FFS is how slow we are to take up the cheapie mid picks...next years premium picks...

Can't help but feel the only 4.5m defenders likely to get a clean sheet in GW2 are Neil Taylor (still unlikely vs Burnley) and Kone - which is also unlikely as Sunderland don't do clean sheets! Finding defenders with decent fixtures in GW2 is very hard, unless you go with the 5.5m+.

Surely you don't expect 4.5 defenders to be getting you regular cleanies? Buy them if they go forward and if they keep a clean sheet be grateful for good fortune

WC after 3 weeks and I'm going all in.

    Foster 4.0

    4.5 4.5 4.5 4.0 4.0

    KDB Hazard Mahrez Ayew Phillips
    Aguero Costa 4.5

Don't want a RMT as I know it will be shot down. Sink or swim. I've no interest in being template.

        Currently on Friend Naylor Souare.
I'll dump Souare probably as he looks dodgy atm.
Not interested in rotation as it's only 3 weeks. Souare replacement may wven be a WBA double up with Foster for the craic

I think a lot of our decisions will be made based upon how well Zlatan does in a couple of friendlies. If he puts some goals away it will be switcharoo for many of us and vice versa if he doesn't score at all.

I guess that is what happens when another big gun comes into the league.

So last season Siggy plays more games than Ayew yet Ayew scores more goals and gets more assists and gets less bookings.

Just looking at some of head 2 head decisions which need making right now

    1. Ayew Serious
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 9 months ago

      I answered above(eventually).

I think Siggy got unlucky in terms of assists last season, created lots of chances. But agree Ayew just edges it being fresh

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        • 13 Years

Yes that is a good point. Plus Siggy had pens last season so they are included but Ayew can still win penalties for Siggy to convert as potential extra points

    2. harty46
      • 11 Years
      9 years, 9 months ago

I think if Ayew is oop which looks like the case then its a no brainer. If swans splash out on a striker then it will be much closer, but maybe still Ayew.

    Rate out of 10 please:

    Mandanda (Jakupovic)
Shaw - Terry - Fernandez - Taylor -Smith
Mahrez - Barkley - Ayew (Leko - Højbjerg)
    Aguero - Ibrahimovic - Costa

The two Swansea defenders will be transferred for GW3
