The penultimate team in our series of membersโ€™ articles, which review the numbers behind the 2015/16 season, are West Brom.

We get our analysis underway by assessing the Baggies team statistics and compare them to the rest of the Premier League and their previous league campaign. We then take a close look at their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources with one eye on the season kick-off in just over two weeksโ€™ time.

The Baggies finished in fourteenth position last time out โ€“ just six points clear of the drop zone โ€“ after a dire run of form saw them draw four and lose five of their final nine league fixtures.

Pulisโ€™ side struggled for a cutting edge and managed to find the net on just 34 occasions โ€“ down on their 38 goals from 2014/15 and a tally superior only to basement-dwellers Villa.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Ive got 3 places to fill with £21m, playing 3-5-2:

    Foster
    Morgan XXX Friend Kone £4m
    Mahrez XXX Ayew Townsend XXX
    Aguero Ibra £4.5m

    A) KDB + Fischer/£5.5m + Wimmer/£5m
    B) Firmino + Deulofeu/£6.5m + Azpi/Baines
    C) Firmino + £5.5m + £5.5m (keep £1.5m ITB to upgrade to Hazard)
    D) Suggestions?

Original plan was to start with KDB and swap to Hazard in GW2.

Arsenal isnt so bad now that Koscielney/Giroud/Ozil/Sanchez/Ramsey/Mertesacker probably wont play

Also wouldn't be surprised is ward-prowse starts ahead of clasie

Davis may not for the system as well with Tadic in the hole, so those are my only changes to yours- agree with the rest

    Southampton 2โƒฃ๏ธ-1โƒฃ๏ธ Twente match report

โญ players: van Dijk, Martina, Clasie, Tadic

    Notes
    - Hojbjerg holding, Reed and Clasie as the wider players and Tadic as the furthest of the midfielder four, almost as a support striker.
    - Sometimes Tadic would drift left and Reed would go central to cover the gap.
    - Switch to 4-3-3 after the 60th minute subs were made. Redmond wide right.
    - Once again, the defence looked quite solid, and Martina at 4.5m could be one to keep an eye on. He has played very well in the last few games and could push Cedric for a start as a cheap route into the Southampton backline.
    - van Dijk once again showing his eye for goal if you’re willing to pay the 5.5m price tag.

Southampton 1st half (4-4-2 diamond): Lewis; Martina, Yoshida, van Dijk, McQueen; Clasie, Hojbjerg, Reed, Tadic; Rodriguez, Austin.

16’’ Rodriguez forces a save from the keeper and earns a corner which Tadic takes.
17’’ Nothing from the resulting corner but Tadic ends up with the ball again and sends a ball back into the box that van Dijk tucks away for the opener. โšฝ
26’’ Tadic slips in Martina with a nice one-two and the fullbacks shot is saved and held.
41’’ Martina takes a long range shot from the right to try and score against his former club but to no avail as it sails high over the bar.

Southampton 2nd half (4-4-2 diamond): Lewis; Martina, Yoshida, van Dijk, Targett; Ward-Prowse, Hojbjerg, Romeu, Tadic; Rodriguez, Redmond.

46’’ Tadic feeds Redmond whose shots just goes past the post.
59’’ Tadic sends in a corner but the header from Hojbjerg is weak and is easily collected by the FC Twente goalkeeper.
61’’ Martina, Yoshida, van Dijk, Hojbjerg, Tadic, Rodriguez subbed for Valery, Jones, Stephens, Hesketh, Isgrove and Gallagher. โ†ฉ๏ธ
66’’ Romeu drills a shot from some distance that goes about 3-4 yards wide.
69’’ Targett crosses a ball into the box and the keeper goes up to catch it. Gallagher challenges for the ball and seems to foul the keeper, knocking the ball out of his hands and into the goal. The referee allows the goal to stand remarkably. โšฝ
71’’ Hesketh hits a shot from the edge of the box and forces a low save from the keeper.
75’’ Lewis tries to defend a corner swung in from Ziyech but ends up palming the ball out to an unmarked Bijen who slots it away neatly. โšฝ

Don't get carried away by Martina. Fonte and Cedric are yet to rejoin the squad.

Agree, he has played well though. Just giving credit where it's due but likely Cedric is still first choice. Certainly giving Puel food for thought at the moment.

I wonder if there will be an RB signing. And there were rumours of Martina leaving. He gets forward but seriously lacks end product.

No Kun and you still don't want Zlatan!?

      Nice team, though.

Not sure about Arsenal's CS prospects in the first two games, but Gabriel may be an option with Mert possibly out, to save you some funds.

Everyweek, your captain choice would be a gamble. Argubly, KDB is your only heavy hitter and even he's hit and miss. Firmino is a good pick but Liverpools fixtures are terrible. Your team is too balanced, what if two of Aguero, Ibra, Hazard, or Alexis explode straight away, your team will need surgery.

With no Aguero or Ibrahimovic the team should be very balanced - it isn't.

Any team withou Kun is weak as far as I'm concerned:/ Eriksen is not viable option like he used to be two years ago tbh.

Please explain the Eriksen part. Mahrez and Ozil are the only midfielders that scored more points than him last season.

That is important only if u haven't watched premier league lasts season. Eriksen was thirs cuz he had crazy streaks later in the season. He trolls you with 5 points outta 10 games after which he scores like 5 goals. He's a coin flip literally.

So basically just be patient with him and he'll go on crazy streaks and get me loads of points? Okay cool.

Haha well he may. At the same time u will lose alot points waiting for him to explode.

One of the few players who played well last season at Valencia, & arguably the best player there last season. Dominant in the air & great interceptor of the ball. Not much of a ball-playing CB. It's an incredible bargain & I'd imagine that's because of the FFP troubles Valencia have reportedly run into.

One of Germany's top 5 CB's imo. Can play RB if needed as well. Bargain of the summer.
