Any of you without Redmond/Tadic and the Liverpud midfield set, wondering what is going to happen next?

The ideal midpark looks like Hazard, Mahrez, Redmond, Firmino and the perma-benched 4.5 i.e. Cappooey.

If you have Kubra, how on earth are you going to fit them all in? Lest we forget KDB, Ozileyes, Payet, Sanchez, et al.

you can diomande up front and play a 3-5-2 either with cappooey and a decent defence or upgrade to Ramierez and a weaker defence.

Really. Wow. That's too far! Telling them who scored the previous week is OK but not little industry secrets like that. Hopefully though most casuals will be too casual to follow FPL Twitter.

you think casuals follow FPL on Twitter...? / if they do are they really that casual, or would they not follow something like FFS and get the same information and more. Why are you annoyed about other people getting free information. If they end up making better decisions than you, that's on you.

Our "secret" getting exposed did have me concerned and I have some other worries for FFS. In this particular case in afraid anyone so follows FPL twitter is most likely not a casual.

Always the attacker unless your fourth defender has an amazing fixture, and I don't know that Sunderland on the road is amazing.

the way im thinking about it, if you're not confident enough to play someone against sunderland, who will you really play them against, and why are they on your team to start. lets be real, sunderland are going to be at the bottom of the table, although defoe could always snag one.

Well, I think you play Friend at home to Stoke, at home to Palace, at home to Watford, etc. Cheap defenders have a role on your team - you play them for very select matchups, and they don't play but take up little budget otherwise.

Also, Sunderland and Middlesbrough is a derby, so I'd expect some goals.

Fair enough, I try to show a little faith in the team I pick but only where it's earned, and they certainly have something to show still.

I'm not sure how much to read into the derby situation. Does anyone have data to back it up, or would it even apply to teams like this who very rarely meet up? I could see it being a slightly more intense match, but not convinced it will translate.

Yeah, I have Friend and am playing him, but that's only because I went super-cheapo on my defense to start the season and also have Souare (tot) and Mee (LIV) on my squad. I just mostly default to playing attackers over defenders in a 3-4-3 or a 3-5-2 when I can, particularly when my alternative scored a goal last week.

solid strategy. however, would you play Williams (wba away) ahead of Capoue (che home)

Well, see, now you're not playing fair because I probably would 🙂

Admittedly, some of this has to do with a bias against the unknown. As much as the data tells me Middlesbrough is strong defensively, I KNOW that Williams is strong and a BAPS magnet, so I feel comfortable playing him.

I'm guessing if Middlesbrough had kept a clean sheet last week I'd feel better about playing Friend, but that late-goal disappointment colored things a bit for me.

Fair point usually but this game is a derby and derby's have to be assessed differently imo.

Form and fixtures don't apply in derby's. It's all about pride and passion with a different energy usually applying on the park and in the stands.

Always expect the unexpected in a derby. 😉

Redmond, of course. Don't let the matchup put you off. Playing an in-form attacker is smarter than playing a defender for a sub-par side - even if they are playing Hull.

What would you do with Ayew (out for 4 months) in your squad if you did't have a FT?
You know his gonna drop 0.1 and some1 like Barkly likely to gain 0.1 (scored last game+heading into soft fixtures+nailed).

    a) (it's a double down) would you take the hit if you can't field 11?
    b) (it's a double down) would you take the hit if you can field 11?

    Hey Guys,

Hope you had a good summer 🙂 Stung by Butland but don't want to waste FT on GK at this point...

    Butland Hennessey

van Dijk Walker Stones Amat Wollscheid

    Firmino Payet Cazorla Eriksen Fletcher

    Agüero Long Musa

    A) Long/Musa > Carrol/Defoe/Llorente (if so, which combo)
    B) Musa > Janssen
    C) Fletcher > Fer play 3-5-2 (if so, which 2nd striker)

Rather unhappy with team for obvious reasons i.e. it's a tad crap...so any help gratefully received!

That in mind, Baines or Williams? It's basically assist potential (although I feel he's lost almost all his set pieces) vs. guaranteed 2-3 bonus for each clean sheet.

Baines will surely be out on flanks a bit more as I see Koeman building towards three at the back structure with Coleman and Baines coming up on outside as Gueye protects the back three.

Expecting that Baines isn't on pens anymore, but no recent proof. If you want attacking potential from your Everton defense, Coleman might be the way to go.

I definitely fancy Coleman a bit more from open play, but he's currently injured I believe. I'm wondering if they will keep up to Williams' bonus.

And remember that bonus are always a result of the context. Swansea didn't score a lot of goals, so many bonus went to defenders. Everton looks much more attacking under Koeman, and if goals are getting scored, then goal-scorers are going to be getting those bonus points

Think he could be used as a sub?

I think Everton will be tight away from home (like Southampton last season) so I'd like to play him if starting but would be gutted with a sub appearance.

Everton fullback Leighton Baines is full of praise for young teammate Mason Holgate.
Baines has been mightily impressed with how the young defender has made the step up to the senior squad since Ronald Koeman became manager.
“He [Holgate] has been around us long enough and has featured heavily in pre-season, and he has handled the whole thing well," Baines told evertontv.
“He's already earned the trust of the players and the manager - that's why he was out there.
“He's done himself the world of good with that performance and I'm sure he'll feature a lot throughout the season.

If Koeman is having doubts about Williams fitness and he rates Holgate then chances are Holgate will get one last start . I have not heard his presser btw . Predicting defender subs is impossible it depends on how the game is going . I would be wildly guessing

There was also a pretty high-praise article in preseason quoting Koeman about Holgate. I was sooooo hoping that he might come into game at 4.0, but alas.

Not sure if common knowledge but Jack Sullivan (son of owner) tweeted that Ayew will be having surgery and out for around 4 months. With that news.. Tadic or Firmino?
    Current team;
    Foster
    Valencia (UTD), Francis, Amat
    Hazard, Redmond, Deulofeu, Ibe
    Kun, Zlatan, Negredo

    Valdes, Ayew, Wollschied, Ward

Even playing false 9, Firmino wasn't as advanced as Tadic and the former had more chances however don't want to sell myself short having 2 SOU mid...
What's everyone else doing with Ayew?

They also played a man down for much of the second half. I think someone on here posted that 11 of Soton's 24 shots came in the final 15 minutes, when they were a man up. So the stats are a little deceiving.

Not so sold that Silva can regain his form of two years ago. His ankles are just too far gone.
      Mahrez and Hazard are fine.
Mane -- gotta wait on news, but long term keeper. Might miss this week.
Gerry D. Gotta see if he steps up. Koeman not happy with his work rate and conditioning and he never lasts 90. With Bolasie coming into team and with Lukaku coming back to play up top, he might get squeezed a bit. I own him, but might not be keeping him for long

You owning/keeping, or thinking about bringing him in?

I think that his current price is baked on him being on penalties and is overpriced if he isn't.

Shot conversion from last year unsustainable.

Regression to mean says that on the whole, he doesn't earn it this year. Surely he'll have some great matches and make us regret going without at times, but he won't make it into my squad in near future.

      If your looking for a cheeky punt or have an injured player that needs fixing, a Bournemouth attacker could be worth a go;

Ayew, Lanzini, Feghouli (hamstring problem, nothing confirmed but I'd guess he's out) injured
      Payet a doubt (knock)
      No decent right back
Antonio training ground bust up (rumours)
New left back, even though solid, he's new.
      New stadium pressure
      Poor at Chelsea
In Romania for game tomorrow, play Sunday.

Bournemouth won the same fixture last year
      Wilson scored a hatrick.

Both defences look poor, could be a game similar to Arsenal v Liverpool just gone. With that, I'm off to sleep, night guys.
