The Stock Check

Typically, Zlatan Ibrahimovic ensures that he crashes the Paul Pogba party, but the impact of the Frenchman’s energy at Old Trafford was there for all to see. Here’s the Stock Check after Friday’s night’s Gameweek 2 opener.

On the Rise

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Friday’s Gameweek opener has made it almost impossible to ignore him.

While his performances have hardly been vintage, Ibrahimovic’s ability to score goals has been in evidence from the get-go and his impact devastating.

Paul Pogba’s arrival as the legs and possession winner in midfield has almost enabled the Swede to settle in the role he does best – now he can almost afford to drift in and out of the game, cropping up to provide moments of quality in the box where it matters.

Already the most transferred in tonight, it’s Hull City up next and the international break gap – multiple price rises look assured.

Luke Shaw
Just as Antonio Valencia looked to have the advantage, Shaw responded with a barnstorming display down the left. The assist for United’s penalty compounded an impressive display.
Again Pogba could be the influence here. Lining up on the left side of the double pivot, his ability to dominate possession could now see the power swing to the left side and promote Shaw as the choice full-back.

However, Valencia was just three behind Shaw in the Bonus Point System, despite his assist. We will continue to monitor but for now, Valencia remains our choice.

Paul Pogba
It was obvious that Pogba’s energy lifted United and brought the best out of those around him – it’s perhaps less obvious how the Frenchman will rate as a Fantasy asset.

He had more touches than any other player, he had more attempts on goal than any other United player but we need more time to see if that translates to returns to justify the 8.5 outlay.

In Decline

Wayne Rooney
Whilst Rooney chipped in with the assist for Ibrahimovic’s opener, when the Swede took the ball to stroke home United’s second, the skipper’s fate was sealed. The 2.5 price difference was tempting but Ibrahimovic has already made his mark, leaving Rooney playing second fiddle now and, most likely, throughout the season.

Notably, it’s also been Rooney, not the Swede who has been withdrawn in both league outings late on.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

is ibra becoming essential? i am reluctant to bring him in because
    a. im stubborn
    b. it requires major outlay
    c. he's already owned by almost 50% of players

point c could support or counter my argument, but i really don't know what to do. any advice? thanks

c he plays hull and watford away in the next three and a home derby against man city who can concede. I'd have to buy him. I know all those fixtures can stop man utd but they will score at least once in each

Pogbas strength is allow the ball to be shifted quickly from back to front. First time I properly studied him was last night, what a player. Has a bit of Keanes tenacity and Vieras strength and workrate. Amazing

Honestly I think both Remond and Tadic will be far more consistant than any other Saints player. Long and Austin were tempting for their price but 1) is not a scoring machine and 2) is not a starter. And there's a gap of £1.3m between Remond and Tadic that makes the brit so apealing. But the fact is that I have Tadic and I'm not ready to let him go yet, at least not until I'm in research of money to spend elsewhere.

Deulofeu, Snodgrass, Ramirez, Feghouli and Fer could be nice too. But Remond is still one step ahead in my mind. Yesterday he looked fine against the best defense of the PL, he will surely scores and delivers assists throughout the season. And next game is Sunderland home.

one goal is coming. the other one from a mid imo.

2 - 1 City, Stoke tend to keep it close at home to City but let's see what Pep's City can do/new era n'all that

excited, think he will score one goal, if he can sneak an assist then ecstatic. Ibra owner so should be a good week if Kane and Vardy do nothing

Guys I need some advice please!

my plan was to bring Zlatan in as soon as he scored last night, but I ended up watching the game at the pub, and I did not have the time, or the presence of mind to make transfers.......

anyway, now he has risen, so I cant get him in one transfer.....I might transfers Fuchs out, not sure who I like for him though, and I might want Hazard if he performs well today.......what would you guys do?

    Heaton, Foster
    Fuchs, Valencia, Dawson, Amat, Friend
    Mahrez, Tadic, Firmino, Capoue, Gradel
    Costa, Gray, Aguero

    £2mil in the bank

      Tadic to Redmond?
      But there's a 0.2 swing there already.

umm, I would definitely wait until after all the matches play out at this point since you missed the rise.

however, I don't think Leicester have the clean sheet form they did last season with Europe and teams better prepared for them.

basically I would downgrade Fuchs to make it happen yes.

Get Williams for Fuchs and Zlatan.

I really really want Benteke in my team - I think he will flourish again at Palace. Fixtures are really good too. However, I need to raise 1.0m in order to to Gray -> Benteke.

    Foster / Heaton
    Valencia, Baines, Stones (Friend, Amat)
    Hazard, Firmino, Townsend, Redmond (Capoue)
    Agüero, Ibrahimovic, Gray

Have 1 FT. If I had two, I'd do Heaton -> Jakupovic and Townsend -> 6.0 mid, however since that is not the case...Townsend to 5.5? Ramirez / Snodgrass maybe? Or would that weaken my midfield too much?

do you not see Townsend's value increasing with Benteke to float crosses in to?

That's a good point. Guess it is best wait and see a few games first. Cheers!

Townsend isn't really a floater of crosses, he's a shoot (and miss) from distance kinda guy.

I did Tadic to Redmond and Vardy to Ibra for minus four last night.

Purely for the price changes. As I believe this stage of the season is where chasing prices is essential.

By the way, the Bundesliga has launched their brand-new official Fantasy manager game. It is very similar to FPL, however points scoring is a bit different.
