The Stock Check

Typically, Zlatan Ibrahimovic ensures that he crashes the Paul Pogba party, but the impact of the Frenchman’s energy at Old Trafford was there for all to see. Here’s the Stock Check after Friday’s night’s Gameweek 2 opener.

On the Rise

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Friday’s Gameweek opener has made it almost impossible to ignore him.

While his performances have hardly been vintage, Ibrahimovic’s ability to score goals has been in evidence from the get-go and his impact devastating.

Paul Pogba’s arrival as the legs and possession winner in midfield has almost enabled the Swede to settle in the role he does best – now he can almost afford to drift in and out of the game, cropping up to provide moments of quality in the box where it matters.

Already the most transferred in tonight, it’s Hull City up next and the international break gap – multiple price rises look assured.

Luke Shaw
Just as Antonio Valencia looked to have the advantage, Shaw responded with a barnstorming display down the left. The assist for United’s penalty compounded an impressive display.
Again Pogba could be the influence here. Lining up on the left side of the double pivot, his ability to dominate possession could now see the power swing to the left side and promote Shaw as the choice full-back.

However, Valencia was just three behind Shaw in the Bonus Point System, despite his assist. We will continue to monitor but for now, Valencia remains our choice.

Paul Pogba
It was obvious that Pogba’s energy lifted United and brought the best out of those around him – it’s perhaps less obvious how the Frenchman will rate as a Fantasy asset.

He had more touches than any other player, he had more attempts on goal than any other United player but we need more time to see if that translates to returns to justify the 8.5 outlay.

In Decline

Wayne Rooney
Whilst Rooney chipped in with the assist for Ibrahimovic’s opener, when the Swede took the ball to stroke home United’s second, the skipper’s fate was sealed. The 2.5 price difference was tempting but Ibrahimovic has already made his mark, leaving Rooney playing second fiddle now and, most likely, throughout the season.

Notably, it’s also been Rooney, not the Swede who has been withdrawn in both league outings late on.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Finally pulled off the dullard knee jerk switch to Ibra..

I think what finally did it for me was the fact that I support United and had to cringe watching us score 2 goals today because it was Ibra who I don't own. Being able to actually enjoy watching the team you support is a difference maker. I was hiding behind the couch today watching my own team. Smh

Team was fine last week (61 points), but now looks a 'mare.

    Foster - Jaku
    Evans - Friend - Souare - Mee - Amat
    Hazard - Sanchez - Tadic - Lamela - Capoue
    Aguero - Vardy - Wickham

I plan on wildcarding after GW3, so how does the following look:

    - Sanchez to Redmond (home to Sunderland, so I don't mind the double-up with Tadic for one week)

    - Wickham to Ibra

I'd have to pull the trigger now.

    1. ★Kuntheman★

Pull it if you're that worried...but you could make that a lot simpler by dropping Vardy

But Redmond seems a better option than Wickham (which is essentially my choice), and I think Vardy at home to Swansea is stronger than Sanchez on the road to Watford.

Well, I planned a GW3 wildcard anyway. I'm not worried at all. I can rotate those defenders for three weeks and work the fixtures--it's what I always planned. Again, last week it worked fine, and it still could this week.

Ibra, Shaw & Tadic for GW rank 900k. Crazy stuff.

Anybody keeping Tadic with the impending price drop? He looks really good and the upcoming fixtures aren't bad at all.

Can't drop him for a home game vs southampton even with a price drop. If he blanks then that will be the time to drop (will be an international break and he'll drop even more than this week). I think keep with an eye on how he does next week

not that, many making room for Ibra, and then avoiding the price drop, also Redmond going up tonight so If you want to jump on that train now is your best shot

The main problem for me here is if I avoid Ibra I'm up against every man and his dog who will captain Ibra next week. I guess I'd go AGUERO (c) again in that scenario.

anyone familiar to witnessing price rise/drop on a gameweek that starts on a Friday in previous seasons? I noticed that usually when a fresh gameweek starts ( Saturday normally) most of the price rise algorithms get reset. But today it seems like they carried forward numbers from yesterday even though it is a new gameweek officially... If you look at the official FPL transfers in this gameweek there really should not be over 10 risers like the prediction sites are showing .. possibly not many risers today? what do you think?

      10 years, 5 days ago

I'd have to see 110% or more on fplstats to be worried about a rise. I can't imagine all those players are going to go up

Lallana is my ayew replacement so I'm happy if he rises even if he's only short term in my squad

thanks for the reply.. Lallana is a good move, if you lucky and he rises tonight and scores tomorrow you will get a nice profit!

Price predictions are not 100 percent yet but cant risk losing out if arsenal players shine tomorrow or Spurs( who I dont have) so just doing all the transfers and WC now..

Drops take place in 30 minutes and would be surprised if FPL stats were 12% out. Wildcards are being played and that means the predictions are likely to be over optimistic (I think)
