The London Stadium hosts the final match of Gameweek 2 as West Ham attempt to settle in their plush new home.

Slaven Bilic’s side host a Bournemouth outfit who claimed a 4-3 victory in the same fixture just over a year ago, via a Callum Wilson hat-trick.

Looking at the West Ham teamsheet, Eddie Howe’s men will fancy their chances again.

The Hammers head into this encounter without both Andy Carroll and Dimitri Payet – the latter “felt something” after his appearance at Chelsea on Monday night, whilst Carroll has sustained a knee injury which will keep him out for a number of weeks according to Slaven Bilic.

As for the Cherries, they appear to have changed shape and seem to be going on the attack: Howe has introduced Ryan Fraser on the flank, with Lewis Cook dropping out.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    General early GW strategy.
Yet again I come into GW1 with great optimism only to find after GW2 that my initial selections have been garbage. 103 after 2 GW is lamentable.
The obvious question why do I fail in the initial game weeks season after season ?
I have come to the inevitable conclusion that the answer is that because by nature I am a gambler and always try and look for an edge my punting approach let's me down.
There were obvious template picks on this site from the outset - Capoue , Gray , Kun Ibra , Negredo to name but a few. I steadfastly ignored these in my quest to gain an early advantage , gambling on the likes of a Firmino captaincy pick , Eriksen , Stones.
Fine margins often determine results but I have come to the overall conclusion that in future I should be completely dullard initially to overcome the terrible starts season after season.
Anyone else take the same early strategy but with way better results ?

sometimes you win sometimes you lose

Firmino, Eriksen and Stones were also apart of the preseason "template"

I agree, it's much better to start the season safe.
Choose players who you know are nailed from teams with good fixtures and draw as much form info as you can from the end of last season, summer internationals and even pre-season friendlies.
I stuck by that for the first time ever and am in a great position on 159 points after 2 weeks. To say I'm super chuffed in a massive understatement.
There's plenty of time later in the season to roll the dice and make some more risky plays.

Luck is also a factor though and I was fully prepared to play an early wildcard (as I have done in the past) to fix a failing team early on. This is a great strategy to get your team back to where you want it after some very useful data on who's going to be in starting 11's and who's hit some form. This data is unreliable before the first KO in GW 1.

I approached this season differently to how I usually do.

Filled my team with potential mid-priced bargains and left 3m itb.

Idea was that you already have the big bandwagons in your team, and you shift dead weight towards heavy hitters.

Worked reasonably well, but mainly down to captaining Aguero twice and also starting with Hazard (and Ibra this week)

Yes I do now think Dullard is the way to go early

Standard proven picks , pens , set peices , nice fixtures

Then get clever and creative once we have more to go on

I punted on Firmino too and ended up with 49 points. If I had gone with Aguero the best I could've got is 60 points. Hoping this week will pay dividends if I stick with my lot. Still no Ibra though.

Same strategy. Same results, unfortunately. Sitting on 106 points after a crap GW2. I thought I could rotate cheap defenders with good matchups, and that hasn't worked out. And I went Sanchez and Vardy over the more common selections of Ibra and a cheaper mid, in an attempt to get some differentials in there that had decent matchups, and that's backfired. It's a long season - and last year I was able to climb back into the top 5K with a similarly slow start - but I'm not overly optimistic at this point.

I always gamble from the off with picks that aren't too popular on here.. Other years it's always backfired but this year it's gone reasonably well..

Martial, Bojan, PVA, Walcott all not in many teams around here and have got me decent returns over the two GWs far..

It's all a bit relevant looking back. Whilst there was a template of sorts forming pre season, there's no gaurentees that they were all going to come together. For every player you mentioned bar Kun, theres been the boselli's, N'zogbia's,

On seasons gone by, I have tended to punt on new arrivals to the league with mixed success.

At some point you have to just go with the masses. As much as you think Ramsey or Vardy can't keep it up, you just have to ride the waves.

Stick to safe captain picks as there is many weeks ahead where the differencial will stand out. The gambler in you needs to avoid chasing the early losses, jump on a few short price Captains and reel it in week by week.

Since the introduction of the chips, it seems gaps in rankings develope quickly, much like the sky game in past seasons where points are widened by people burning all there transfers in the first few weeks chasing the motm etc.

Hah I'm similar in terms of picks. I listen to other peoples teams and went part template but there are just some punts I couldn't resist. Vardy, maybe not a punt, but a great first fixture.. I was Afraid not to have him for that. I got lucky by going for vardy/Ibra/kun which was an overly top heavy combo which actually did ok.

Any more comments guys? Currently on 2FT. Which would you do guys -

    A) Vardy and Stones > Lukaku and McAuley this week and Deulofeu > Barkley week after

    B) All of the above this week for -4

    C) Vardy and Deulofeu > Barkley and one of Gray or Negredo

    Would appreciate your comments!

C - I imagine you want Negredo, but Burnley gets Hull in 2 weeks at home. I imagine that Gray will score one in that match.

      I'd do C to Negredo.
I'd also look to shift Stones next week. I'm currently thinking of doing the same to a defeneder with better fixtures.
Currently thinking one of the below:
A- Williams (after seeing whether he starts)
B- Holgate (if he nails the spot)
C- Holding (If they don't sign another CB - Arsene also been talking him up)
      D- A West Ham Def

Which option would you all go for at this stage and why?

    Hi!

I've had a bunch of guys ask me about the status of the Gargatron for this season, so I thought I'd post an update here.

FPL remade their website almost completely for this season, so updating the Gargatron might well be too much work for me, although I am not sure. Back when I made it I was a student, but now I work full time so I have less time on my hands. I was also a complete JavaScript so it's unfortunately very badly coded in terms of how easy it is to update.

I'll post a definite answer in gameweek 5 or so. But don't worry - somebody else will come along and make some tool that does the same thing regardless, and it's likely that it will be better. It's not that difficult.

TLDR: There might not be a Gargatron for this season.

I don't really want to take a -8 but I'm worried about not having him.

I can get him in for a -4 but that would mean taking out Hazard or Mahrez when their next fixture is good. This will only give me either 5.7 or 6.2 to spend on a replacement.

      Out for Barkley

    Decent 94k finish. Current team:

    Adrian - Forster
    Valencia - Stones - Friend - McAuley - Amat
    Hazard - Tadic - Lamela - Deulofeu - Fletcher
    Aguero - Ibra - Gray

Still have 2 FT, no clue as to what to do with them, any suggestions? (Expensive GK rotation I know, but have a look, it works great).

Please could anyone advise on what to do this upcoming GW. I have 2 FTs and prepared in advance so my starting lineup I can't see anyone I would transfer out as all fixtures are decent. I just don't want to lose the FT but is it worth it to do so on this occasion? Thanks.

    A) Keep team lose FT
    B) Other, please specify

    Forster
    Stones - Morgan - Valencia
    Hazard - Redmond - Mahrez - Townsend
    Aguero - Long - Ibrahimovic

    Jakupovic - Amat - Capoue - Paredes

Keep unless you fancy changing out Stones or finding money to upgrade Paredes to a 4.5.

Was thinking that, or could do Townsend to Bolasie and gain 0.5 million.

Evertons fixtures look good going forward too.

Gotta wait to see how many minutes Bolasie gets first no? He's dueling with other players, but should emerge as a starter I believe. I would keep Townsend for now with those plum fixtures (Im waiting for him to come good too).

Kane punt , even captaining him this week went badly wrong

His position as a number 10 now makes him easy to sell. Obviously Janssen could drop out and Kane back up top, but the threat of it happening in any game is big

Yep , have to give that one up

Especially with Aguero & Zlatab looking stand out options from what's looking like the best 2 teams

I haven't looked far enough ahead on the fixtures , but this kun vs Ibra captaincy is really difficult, so far we've been lucky that both have been the right picks, but that will soon change no doubt.

my last Ibra question of the night....

Would you get Rondon for Carroll

    OR

Ibra for Carroll for a hit (meaning id have to replace Hazard or Mahrez for a Mid with a value of 6.2 or less.

    Already have Tadic.
