Michail Antonio shifts forward and provides the decisive finish as West Ham celebrate their London Stadium bow with a hard-fought victory. Earlier in the day, Alvaro Negredo’s qualtiy and Cristhian Stuani’s finishing combined to earn Middlesbrough three points on Wearside. Here’s the Stock Check after Sunday’s matches…

On the Rise

Alvaro Negredo
A goal in Gameweek 1, followed by two classy assists today. Negredo appears to be reveling in his lone striker role for Middlesbrough and his intelligence and awareness looks very effective in combination with the likes of Gaston Ramirez and Stewart Downing as creators. Negredo sits third in the FPL rankings – only Sergio Aguero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have started stronger. Further transfer traffic is heading his way.

Cristhian Stuani
It’s a long shot but we have to mention the Uruguayan following his two goals. Brought in to replace Albert Adomah as part of Aitor Karanka expected rotation on the flanks, he reacted by seizing his opportunity in style. It remains to be seen if Stuani can retain a starting role – even as a 4.9 forward, his appeal would seem limited.

Patrick van Aanholt
More goals and more attempts than any other defender last season, the flying Dutchman has already opened his account for 2016/17. While David Moyes’ defence ha been unsettled by injury and departures, Van Aanholt still provides a tempting proposition given his attacking prowess and Sunderland’s fixtures. The Black Cats welcome Everton, Palace and West Brom to Wearside over the next five Gameweeks.

Michail Antonio
Has Eden Hazard done Fantasy managers a huge favour? After enduring a torrid evening at the hands of the Belgian at Stamford Bridge last Monday, Antonio was shifted onto the flank for today’s home clash with Bournemouth. Considering the injury situation in attack, Slaven Bilic will surely now look to keep Antonio in an attacking role after the former Nottingham Forest man headed home the match-winner. If he can keep his place and that position beyond the Gameweek 3 trip to City, Antonio would certainly be back on our radar as a true alternative to Dimitri Payet.

James Collins
A goal against Chelsea, followed up by a solid rearguard display against the Cherries, looks to have kept the Welshman ahead of Angelo Ogbonna in the West Ham defence. At 4.5, he’s got some very decent upcoming fixtures after next week’s trip to City has passed. We’re currently favouring Winston Reid for his security of starts but Collins may just usurp him heading into that run of matches.

In Decline

Dimitri Payet
Slaven Bilic has played down the severity of the Frenchman’s injury but, with a trip to City up next, Payet’s 25% owners aren’t hanging about. Over 36,000 have parted company already this week, more than any midfielder – with the international break to follow Gameweek 3, a failure to feature at the Etihad could see the exodus snowball.

Andy Carroll
With Andre Ayew ruled out for months, the Hammers target man seemed nailed on up front for the foreseeable future. Yet again, though, Carroll faces a spell on the sidelines after succumbing to a knee injury – given his treatment room history, we should have known that price of 6.5 was too good to be true.

Callum Wilson
The Cherries striker looked a shadow of the player that scored a hat-trick away to the Hammers just 12 months ago. Hauled off for the second match in succession, Wilson has managed just two attempts on goal in the first couple of Gameweeks. Eddie Howe’s side will struggle if they fail to get him firing.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

My team for Gw 3 for minus 4:
    Heaton
    Mcauley, Walker, Stones, Valencia
    Tadic, Firmino, Hazard
    Rondon, Ibra, Augero
    Subs: Jackpovic, Ramirez, Amat, Watson

Any other transfers required or it looks good both the starting 11 and the bench ?

    Hi all, team is:

    Cech Jaku

    Stones Valencia Evans Francis Amat

    Haz Coutinho Lamela Delf Hojbjerg

    Kun Ibra Gray

Plan to get rid of Stones/Delf/Cech thoughts?

      Priority:

      3. Stones

0 CS from 2 games can turn into 2 CS from 4 games pretty easy, especially for a team like Man City.

TBH, City didn't get the CS due to Sterling's stupidity, so bar that, Stones would've had 6pts, main worry is Delf at the moment.

What I've learnt so far in the 2 Gameweeks for defender. [This is solely based on statistics and not game play. All stats courtesy of Whoscored.com]

    1) Liverpool's defender is a shamble. 3 goals conceded against Arsenal and 2 goals against Burnley. However, they only conceded 6 shots per game on average [9 against Arsenal(Conceded 3 goals) and 3 against Burnley(Conceded 2 goals)]. This means 42% of the shots turn into goals! The sample size is small, but this is a worrying stats that further proves the worrisome nature of their defence.

    2) Heaton will have lots of opportunities for save points. Burnley conceded the most shots(21.5 pg) and he has 6 saves per game on average[2nd place got 4.5 pg]

    3) Hull has been a surprise these past two games. Even though they conceded the 2nd most number of shots (21.5 pg), they also have one of the highest interceptions and tackles per game (21.5 and 23.5 respectively).

    4) Despite not having the complete CB yet, Arsenal did quite well. Conceded 12 shots per game[Most teams averaged between 11-15 shots per game] shots conceded and also with pretty healthy tackles and interceptions per game [ 20.5 and 18.5 respectively ]

Future planning for defenders[at least personally]:-

    1. Even though Swansea's 2 4.0 playing defenders look enticing, their next 5-6 games are extremely tough. Even though they didn't concede much shots(11 shots per game), their past 2 fixtures are against Burnley and Hull, both were newcomers to the league. Unless buying as enabler, bench warmer or to chase the price rise, it is wise not to invest in them.

    2. The same should be said of Hull. Even though they did pretty well statistically in the past 2 games defensively, their next 5 fixtures are pretty tough. The policy of buying the 4.0 priced playing goalkeeper, Jakupovic, should be the same as above. Unless you have a good rotation partner, you should stay away from him.

    3. Be on the lookout for Everton defender. They have a decent fixtures ahead in the next 8 games. Only Man City provides a stern test. Holgate at 4.5 looks to be an option. I believe Coleman will play as the wing-back when he returns from injury on 12 Sept so he should be nailed on as on of the 3 CB's. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

    4. Arsenal's fixtures in the next 8 games are healthy as well. The only tough fixtures are Southampton and Chelsea. Watford has the lowest shots per game(5.5). I expect Arsenal to 5 out of 8 clean sheets. Invest in Monreal, Kosc or Bellerin. If you are confident Holding can keep his place, then go for him but he is susceptible to rotation with Chambers.

    5. Even though Man Utd did well with 2 CS's in the past two games, their next 7 games will be a truer test for their defence with Man City, Leicester , Liverpool and Chelsea as their opponents. For Leicester, the past two games indicates that they don't possess much threat yet going forward. It remains to be seen which Leicester will show up at Old Trafford on the 24th Sept.

    6. Invest in West Brom defenders. Because, well, let's just say I believe in Pullis.

    7. Liverpool next 3 games are tough as well with Spurs,Chelsea and Leicester waiting. Even though they have the lowest shots concede per game, their next 3 opponents have undoubtedly more offensive firepower. Their fixtures eases after the game against Chelsea. However, I won't invest in Liverpool defender until they can provide a better display defensively.

There are quite a number of teams that give interesting options to invest as well (Crystal Palace, West Ham, Spurs etc). Let's just say that I'm lazy to continue writing lol. Hope this helps.

My defenders have been quite disappointing so far:

    Valencia, Stones, Friend, Kingsley, Lenihan.

Gutted Luke SHaw got the assist on FRiday and Stones failed to keep a clean sheet in 2 matches. Friend didnt impress me either defensively.

    Ideas for defender swaps?

I have 0.9 itb generated through swapping Firmino to Barkley. Dont mind taking a hit

I wouldn't take a hit for a defender. It's so hard to predict. Stones could have easily has a clean sheet and Valencia is looking promising.

I'm sure a lot would advise against but I like it. Those 3 have serious potential to earn points from the back. Suppose it depends if it's having an effect on the quality of your mid/att.

As a Utd fan do you think Mkhitaryan will start soon? He is the only midfielder i like from Utd. If i get Shaw Valencia and Ibra i won't be able to get him if he starts

My Fantasy team name is 'hit a km ryan' 🙂
He's a great player and is bound to get his chance soon but utd have so many options now, best leave off from their midfield for a while I reckon! Although both Martial & Mata are looking good!!
I think it's way too risky atm, Shaw & Valencia are looking great and nailed and as for Zlatan, well it's Zlatan time isn't it! 🙂

Woww same front 8 as what i got after burning my 2 FT to bring in barkly/negredo for firmino/caroll..5.5df x 3 could be slight overkill on wildcard..would only be a matter of time before you need to shave funds off your df to upgrade lamela or barkly to the likes of payet or ozil..or negredo to giroud/lukaku while holding on to both kun/ibra..

Firmino & Townsend >> Barkley and Lamela

Would mean you'd have cash for Benteke in for Gray GW4/5

So .6 this would come in handy later if players below start to drop in form..

          Redmond >> 6.6
          Barkley >> 8.1
          Lamela >> 7.6

          Rest looks good.

Whoops didn't se you had Hazard. I think you need to get rid of Silva at least. Pep has him play a deep role and is kinds useless FPL wise. And Ibra's ownership is high that if you don't get him in soon you will be playing catch up

yes i will get rid of silva today

If you are willing to take a -4 you could do Sanchez and Silva to Tadic/Redmond and Sanchez to Lamela then upgrade Long to Ibra

I really like the Mirallas pick but just not sure how safe he is with Bolasie/Delboy around. So Redmond for now.

Mirallas has better fixtures but I think he's slightly more at risk of rotation than Redmond.

Way too much cash spent in defence

      Try
      GK =4.5//4.0
      DF = 5.5//5.5//5//4.5//4

      ST = 13//11.6//6.5

Your a few players short, but how much would a hit cost? I wouldn't wildcard for a 12pt hit or less.

      Get cheaper defense
      Get Ibra
