Suspensions

The FA have this afternoon charged Sergio Aguero with alleged violent conduct following his altercation with Winston Reid in City’s 3-1 win over West Ham at the Etihad last weekend.

City’s top scorer now has until 6pm tomorrow to contest the charge and, if found guilty, is set to serve a three-match domestic ban.

He would sit out the Gameweek 4 and 5 encounters against United and Bournemouth, as well as City’s EFL Cup trip to Swansea on September 20.

Aguero would then be available for the Gameweek 6 visit to the Liberty four days later.

Given the nature of the altercation, Aguero’s flailing arm gives him little hope of avoiding suspension.

Owned by over 52% of Fantasy Premier League managers, he’s already suffered significant sales after withdrawing from Argentina duties with a calf problem.

Should confirmation come tomorrow, the exodus will kick into overdrive as we look to spend the budget freed up by his departure from our squads.

For the 43.2% who don’t yet own him, Zlatan Ibrahimovic offers an easy swap for those who are seeking a place-holder for the City striker.

Chelsea’s Diego Costa looks reinvigorated under Antonio Conte and, along with Wayne Rooney, is one of only two forwards to produce returns in each of the first three Gameweeks.

The Aguero news comes at a time where Eden Hazard and Alexis Sanchez served a reminder of their big-hitter potential in midfield with double-figure weekend returns.

Whilst the temptation to invest the Aguero funds heavily in midfield is strong, keeping the door open for an easy return looks a wise move given his form under Pep Guardiola.

How far do people think Aguero's price will drop before he returns? (If he is banned of course, though I know he probably will be)

If he drops to £12.8, I can safely buy McAuley and benefit from price rises.
However, if he only drops to £12.9 I'll have trouble bringing him back if I opt for McAuley and I would have to go for Evans.

It seems reasonable to think that Aguero might drop by £.3 over 3 weeks and 2 game weeks, no?

Their actual defenders aren't all too great anymore bar Azpi imo, Ivan, Terry and Cahill are past it and even Courtoius can't match his first season form. But as long as Matic and Kante play in front of them they should rack up CS

    Bottomed:

I want Sanchez and prefer Sanchez to Ozil, but, will his roll and potential for big hauls lesses with arrival of Giroud up front?

Also Ozil now more match fit will feature more prominently going forward as opposed to Sanchez who has been getting the full 90.

Looks like a left footed Vardy (not as good obviously) with more assist potential. Makes good runs, is fast and has a great left foot. Depends where Wenger uses him, think he'd be better on the right wing as opposed to strike

Just remembered I have Stuani. So would you do....

    1) Aguero/Stuani to Lukaku/Benteke -4 and keep Pogba
    2) Aguero/Pogba to Sanchez/Lukaku -4 and keep Stuani

1 would mean a 6M mid and 2 would mean an 8.5M mid once I get Aguero back. Swaying towards 1 tbh.

    1. @persecuted_by_mods

He has started all three matches and played the full 90 in each. Pep has been very vocal about how highly he rates him. Has been the best or among the best players each match.

I don't see how he gets rotated at this point and if so, will be very sporadic, certainly not a player that is consistently rotated I mean missing PL matches.

I am warming on Costa, despite not even considering him early on. His penchant for cards n' that. Can get cold at times.

Thoughts on whether this is worth a wildcard:

    Foster - Jak
    Amat - Stones - Valencia - Friend - Kone
    Hazard - Bolasie - Martial - Redmond - Capoue
    Aguero - Ibra - Gray

1 FT and £0.9m ITB. Have to say I'm incredibly tempted to wildcard. Could get a much better squad for next couple of weeks, problem is getting Aguero back in.

    Opinions welcome

Is it time to get rid of Stones on WC? I only really got him in because it was only 5m for a Man City defender. But it looks like they can't keep a clean sheet and he's offering nothing going forward.

    Ditch or Keep?

I personally think I'd ditch him if I was on WC, for the reasons you've stated

I think it's ditch for me. Even if he is super cheap for a city defender it looks like they never gonna keep a CS

I think I'm gonna keep if he goes to 4.9 by the end of the GW, it is just too cheap to pass

Those who wanted to sell Ibra to get Kun back in

Ibra has 2 home games in gw 6 + 7
    Aguero has 2 away games....

Might have to rethink that plan!

End of next week to ensure no additional injuries after transfers made?
