Sergio Aguero will serve a three-match ban after the FA upheld their charge of violent conduct issued on Tuesday.

The verdict arrives as a result of a meeting of an independent panel at the FA, following Manchester City’s decision to contest the initial charge.

Aguero will now miss the next two Gameweeks, ruling him out of the Manchester derby on September 10, plus the plum Etihad meeting with Bournemouth in Gameweek 5.

Now we must make our own decision.

For some, this was made by activating the Gameweek 4 Wildcard.

Already a hugely popular window to carry out the refresh, Aguero’s troubles will have prompted greater numbers to hit the button.

Those with Wildcards active can now go about disposing of the Argentine’s services and distributing the funds over two players – potentially bringing in a midfield heavy-hitter as their Gameweek 4 captain.

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, the resurgent Raheem Sterling and the Arsenal pairing of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil top the bill.

The Gunners’ pairing look particularly attractive as a means of acquiring a Gameweek 4 captain – Arsenal face Southampton at the Emirates.

Those without a Wildcard and with just a single free transfer available face a tougher decision.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic already in almost 60% of squads, our sights must be lowered to consider the likes of Diego Costa and Romelu Lukaku.

Alternatively, we can venture into the mid-price and absorb a transfer hit to acquire one of the aforementioned midfield targets.

Riding out the two Gameweeks with Aguero benched is clearly an option. However, it’s the threat from the Arsenal pair that looks dangerous.

Wildcard squads and those who commit two transfers will likely target one of Sanchez and Ozil and, if they deliver with the armband, it could create a major swing in Gameweek 4.

The key, however, is the plan heading into Gameweek 6 for Aguero’s return.

City travel to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea – a fixture that looks potentially profitable for Aguero.

Trading him out now looks to be the option if we can be certain to devise a bullet-proof plan to get him back ahead of Gameweek 6.

Again, those with the Wildcard should have the advantage; they can plan their squad around a strategy of banking their Gameweek 5 transfer, ensuring that the funds to bring back the City man can be unlocked with two transfers leading into Gameweek 6.

We have a Burning Question on the Aguero situation, the strategies and the targets arriving in the next 24 hours.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Lack of budget strikers makes want to move for 3-5-2 but that hasn't ever worked for me except in that Michu season.

      And 2 very good strikers...

It worked for me in 2011-12 with Siggy, Dempsey, Walcott, Silva, Valencia, VDV, Bale etc. It worked the season with Michu, Fellaini etc as you say and then last season it was perfect to expose Mahrez, Ayew, Payet, KDB/Silva/Ozil and Sanchez's points

No you haven't. He hasn't done jack for awhile. But that said he is in arguably his best Everton team ever and now past the transfer window with a solid run of favorable fixtures. He is also 23 years old and seemingly in a positive environment. Maybe he continues to do nothing, or maybe he goes on a run. I think putting him in your team with Kun out is not a bad risk. But it is a risk obviously.

    A. Sanchez Barkley Zaza
    B. Ozil Antonio Lukaku

Zaza is an unknown in the bpl but Sanchez gives me another captaincy option, and I think Barkley is a decent alternative to Lukaku. So which one to go for?

Defoe only cuz he is on pens. And now pretty sure Benteke is on pens as well. And Benteke is a better striker. And with Remy and a better midfield, CRY have a better chance of scoring. Thats why I guess!

If the alternative is going without Aguero I would still sell.

So you'd rather go with Cazorla so you don't have to make a tough decision? Why not go with Sanchez for two weeks, hope he brings in the points, and then downgrade to Cazorla?

    Foster / Jakupovic
    Valencia / Williams / Evans / Holebas / Amat
    Hazard / Ozil / Sterling / Mirallas / 4.5
    Ibrahimovic / Kane / Zaza

Going for this. Think Zaza is as good as shout as any for that third striker spot especially with West Hams midfield coming back. Also whilst Kane isn't really owned, good chance to gamble for two weeks.

I like this, and could well follow you up on it. There are no strikers I fancy at all.

Ozil V Sanchez is really tough.

So many reasons to select each one but can't have both 🙁

    chances of:
    A) Negredo 1 more rise
    B) Costa 2 more rises
    C) Sterling 1 more rise
    D) Holgate 1 more rise

I'm thinking low for all except Sterling 😐

Costa might have a decent chance. I can see the casuals flocking to him as their Aguero replacement.

I can afford my ideal WC team if two of those happen and Pieters falls once

He was 75% and now 0% chance to play, simple. Needs more transfers to drop.

      Red flag increases the threshold.

Mid4 sterling looks good for now
Mid5 Ramirez not sure about him

Att1 aguero out for 2 games
Att2 ibrahimovic will rise loads now aguero is out
Att3 gray could be suspended for being racist

Already used my FT. Would you:

    A) wildcard
    B) take a 4 pt hit for aguero to Costa/lukaku
    C) take an 8pt hit aguero + ramirez to Costa/ lukaku + Sanchez

    Help much appreciated!

Why won't Pickford play? This extending the transfer lark for Sunderland to get a goalkeeper is hogwash... He'll play.

        Hogwash in what sense?

It's a nice why of saying bullsh*t. One can't bend the rules for one team. They have the option on free transfers.
