Sergio Aguero will serve a three-match ban after the FA upheld their charge of violent conduct issued on Tuesday.

The verdict arrives as a result of a meeting of an independent panel at the FA, following Manchester City’s decision to contest the initial charge.

Aguero will now miss the next two Gameweeks, ruling him out of the Manchester derby on September 10, plus the plum Etihad meeting with Bournemouth in Gameweek 5.

Now we must make our own decision.

For some, this was made by activating the Gameweek 4 Wildcard.

Already a hugely popular window to carry out the refresh, Aguero’s troubles will have prompted greater numbers to hit the button.

Those with Wildcards active can now go about disposing of the Argentine’s services and distributing the funds over two players – potentially bringing in a midfield heavy-hitter as their Gameweek 4 captain.

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, the resurgent Raheem Sterling and the Arsenal pairing of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil top the bill.

The Gunners’ pairing look particularly attractive as a means of acquiring a Gameweek 4 captain – Arsenal face Southampton at the Emirates.

Those without a Wildcard and with just a single free transfer available face a tougher decision.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic already in almost 60% of squads, our sights must be lowered to consider the likes of Diego Costa and Romelu Lukaku.

Alternatively, we can venture into the mid-price and absorb a transfer hit to acquire one of the aforementioned midfield targets.

Riding out the two Gameweeks with Aguero benched is clearly an option. However, it’s the threat from the Arsenal pair that looks dangerous.

Wildcard squads and those who commit two transfers will likely target one of Sanchez and Ozil and, if they deliver with the armband, it could create a major swing in Gameweek 4.

The key, however, is the plan heading into Gameweek 6 for Aguero’s return.

City travel to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea – a fixture that looks potentially profitable for Aguero.

Trading him out now looks to be the option if we can be certain to devise a bullet-proof plan to get him back ahead of Gameweek 6.

Again, those with the Wildcard should have the advantage; they can plan their squad around a strategy of banking their Gameweek 5 transfer, ensuring that the funds to bring back the City man can be unlocked with two transfers leading into Gameweek 6.

We have a Burning Question on the Aguero situation, the strategies and the targets arriving in the next 24 hours.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    A) Kun -> Costa
    B) Kun -> Costa and Barkley -> Ozil/Sanchez for a -4 hit (0 ITB)

Is Lukaku - Benteke - Bony too light? Planning to have an expensive mid and will downgrade to get Aguero when he gets back from injury and starts scoring.

Yeah I think it has potential but it also has a high chance to fall flat. I just can't justify upgrading to more expensive forwards as I don't fancy most of them and many premium mids are catching my eye. Thanks.

Also worried that all three are just getting their first first few starts. Think I should sacrifice a ~9.0 mid to upgrade a forward or should I find another mid priced striker?

Bony is a poor pick now. From what I understand, he has played no games this year,
even pre-season. None. He was hoping around in a developmental game the other day.
Looked like he was in the park with a bunch of kids.

If that's the case, he has to be weeks away from match fitness.

When he's fit, he'll be a real prospect. I have my eye on Week 8.

Italy were pretty defensive at the Euros, but I guess that was tournament football. I don't particularly like Costa as a player, but he looks like potentially the best option to replace Aguero...

Italy are always defensively solid, it's a cultural thing! They're good at it too.

I don't like Costa cos he has Batman for competition, is a card magnet and prone to throw his dollies out of the pram and maybe fall out of favour with Conte. Vardy is a better alternative for me.

Antonio in a 3-5-2 seems better than a 3-4-3 with Benteke

One has showed form in the last 6 months the other hasn't

Antonio managed 126 in 2057 minutes and some of those minutes were at right back and he should improve on that score this year significantly.

Benteke so best season was 166 in 2818 mins which is an extra 40 points in an extra 9 games.

Now this isn't much difference and keep in mind quite a few of those mins were at right back for Antonio but Antonio has showed form and should improve with his high confidence atm where as Benteke hasn't reached that level of form from his best season when he scored 19 goals and this will take quite a bit of time.

    Interested to hear your thoughts

    0.9 itb 0 ft. Already had a -4.

Feel like the minimum I need to do is Kun->Costa for another -4.

Those with Kun and Gray (if banned) to replace, who are you getting as your 2? (Assuming the third striker is Zlats)

I'm going Costa and the Troll

I touted this s few days ago. As he's in my team at the moment but concerned about Nolito. General consensus was that Nolito is a winger/left forward and Nacho was favorite. I'm rolling the dice with a front 3 of Nacho, lukaku and Kane. Going to bring Kun back I for Swansea though.
