Sergio Aguero will serve a three-match ban after the FA upheld their charge of violent conduct issued on Tuesday.

The verdict arrives as a result of a meeting of an independent panel at the FA, following Manchester City’s decision to contest the initial charge.

Aguero will now miss the next two Gameweeks, ruling him out of the Manchester derby on September 10, plus the plum Etihad meeting with Bournemouth in Gameweek 5.

Now we must make our own decision.

For some, this was made by activating the Gameweek 4 Wildcard.

Already a hugely popular window to carry out the refresh, Aguero’s troubles will have prompted greater numbers to hit the button.

Those with Wildcards active can now go about disposing of the Argentine’s services and distributing the funds over two players – potentially bringing in a midfield heavy-hitter as their Gameweek 4 captain.

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, the resurgent Raheem Sterling and the Arsenal pairing of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil top the bill.

The Gunners’ pairing look particularly attractive as a means of acquiring a Gameweek 4 captain – Arsenal face Southampton at the Emirates.

Those without a Wildcard and with just a single free transfer available face a tougher decision.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic already in almost 60% of squads, our sights must be lowered to consider the likes of Diego Costa and Romelu Lukaku.

Alternatively, we can venture into the mid-price and absorb a transfer hit to acquire one of the aforementioned midfield targets.

Riding out the two Gameweeks with Aguero benched is clearly an option. However, it’s the threat from the Arsenal pair that looks dangerous.

Wildcard squads and those who commit two transfers will likely target one of Sanchez and Ozil and, if they deliver with the armband, it could create a major swing in Gameweek 4.

The key, however, is the plan heading into Gameweek 6 for Aguero’s return.

City travel to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea – a fixture that looks potentially profitable for Aguero.

Trading him out now looks to be the option if we can be certain to devise a bullet-proof plan to get him back ahead of Gameweek 6.

Again, those with the Wildcard should have the advantage; they can plan their squad around a strategy of banking their Gameweek 5 transfer, ensuring that the funds to bring back the City man can be unlocked with two transfers leading into Gameweek 6.

We have a Burning Question on the Aguero situation, the strategies and the targets arriving in the next 24 hours.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I don't often do this but here's my wc team, any thoughts?

    Foster (Jaku)

Shaw / Williams / Collins / McAuley (Amat)

Sterling / Hazard / Sanchez / Barkley (Capoo)

    Ibra / Costa (Diomande)

0.9m itb, Kun plan will be 2 transfers to upgrade Costa to Kun and downgrade a mid. Got time to decide which one based on form but likely Barkley.

Might just go for Kane as Aguero replacement. Spurs have a proper box-to-box, non-defensive Central midfielder now as Dembele's replacement while he is out.

Well yes, those that make it out that Dembele is some magic wand that makes Spurs tick put too much emphasis on the individual and not enough on the style of play. They lack pace in their attack and so when Dembele is out they also lack anyone to boss the midfield. This is why they are usually bereft of ideas when he isn't around. Now that they have added some pace as well as Sissoko in the centre of the park both factors which contribute to the theory will hopefully have been dismantled

there defense is so damned expensive.

it was easy to get them in last year, with Mahrez and Vardy taking up less

i think a lot of Wildcarders might opt for Cech. he is the cheapest way in.

People talking about Kane and the Dembele theory, what about the August- Kane theory?

Harry Kane has not scored in any of his 10 Premier League appearances in the month of August. He always takes a while to get going but when he gets going he is unstoppable

Sanchez will be a replacement for those with two transfers (or those taking a hit) Giroud muddies the water for Sanchez (or so some believe)

Kane's slow start this season EXPLAINED:

eve (a) - crowded out by 3 CBs, 3 vs 1, everton did this to zlatan in rooney testimonial

cry (h) - played as a 10, six shots though and should have scored. Assisted wanyama goal.

liv (h) - shifted into a deeper position after only 15 mins.

    Foster Jakupovic
    Stones Valencia Kone Amat Friend
    Sanchez Hazard Lamela Barkley Capoue

    One more:

    Stuani or Barrow?

Did a draft system with friends, have some transfers now though.

    Current team:
    Cech , Foster
    Baines, Koscielny, Alderweireld, Koné, Brunt
    Alli, Tadic, Deulofeu, Ramirez, Townsend
    Batshuayi, Hernandez, Aguero

I have to pick players based on an entire season.
Keep Alli? Deulofeu? Ramirez? Batshuayi? Hernandez?
    Not much left to pick.
Some players that are available: Antonio, Siggurdson, Slimani, Zaza, Chadli, Benteke, Remy, Lanzini, Januzaj, Perez, Llorente, Sissoko, Boufal.

Any tips on who to get rid of and who to get in?

Ross Barkley or Erik Lamela gents?

Think they're both great options but not sure which I prefer ... And don't be too biased on Barkley's history 😉

I have Lukaku but I don't think that affects my choice on whether I should get Barkley.

              ye, activated it last wk.

started the season w/ 3-5-2 - gray/long didn't fill me w/ confidence - but after benteke/bony deals and how well their fixtures dovetail, decided 3-4-3 was the way to go

kicked kdb out, hazard in. sterling as mc mid cover

Activated on Saturday myself. Got a gut feeling about Kane so he's in 🙂 Still without Ibra.
                You interested in Alexis?
