Dugout Discussion – Watford vs Man United

Sunday treats us to four matches, kicking off with a noon encounter at Vicarage Road between Watford and Man United.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic carries the armband hopes of many Fantasy managers heading into this one – the Swede narrowly topped this week’s Captain Poll off the back of four goals in as many matches.

Etienne Capoue has the chance to prove himself worthy of a fourth midfielder slot today. Having scored against Southampton, Chelsea and West Ham, the Frenchman is set for a favourable run of matches that could bring in the points.

Similarly, Odion Ighalo, Troy Deeney and Jose Holebas are also under the spotlight after all three got amongst the goals in last week’s comeback win over the Hammers.

    Can someone please explain why 3 United managers have seemingly refused to see what Fergie saw in his final year - just how rubbish Rooney is?!

    He must have a clause in his contract about playing time because there's no other reason he sits in this team otherwise. Completely pathetic!

      Agree. Play a 3 man midfield from Schneiderlin, herrera, Pogba, Fellaini. Rashford on the left, Martial on the right and Zlatan striker. It's not rocket science surely

      I think Fergie is just as at fault.

      Remember when they bought Kagawa and RVP? Remember how Kagawa was shafted to the bench to accommodate Rooney? Or when Rooney threatened to join Chelsea/City unless he was paid more money (and was subsequently given more money). Plus, Fergie's on the board at United now, and was on the board when they rewarded Rooney with a £300k a week contract. It is the higher ups at United who have protected Rooney, there is no a doubt in my mind that any of Moyes, LVG and Mourinho actually believe he's played well enough to warrant inclusion in the team. Maybe that clause exists, I don't know, but regardless I very much so point the blame at the board and the higher ups.

        The only people that are at fault for Rooney playing week in week out are the managers that have played him, bar Moyes, as he warranted a place in the team at that point as the others around him were even worse than he was!
        To blame Fergie who would have shipped him out 3 and half years ago is laughable! 🙂

    If an opposing player touches the ball after the final pass before a goal is scored, significantly altering the intended destination of the ball, then no assist is awarded.
