Monday morning sees the launch of our latest captain poll, canvassing your opinion on the likely favourites and differential options for the armband in Gameweek 7.

Sergio Aguero (13.0) returned from a three-match suspension in style in Gameweek 6 with two goals and maximum Fantasy Premier League bonus points away to Swansea, to reward the 45% in our Captain Poll who backed him with the armband.

Even though the 37.2% owned Manchester City striker faces a far tougher test this weekend at Tottenham Hotspur, it would be no surprise to see him tussle at the top of this week’s poll as well.

The omens are certainly in his favour – Aguero has ten goals from nine appearances against Spurs.

Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic (11.6) will likely be challenging Aguero at the top of the poll, after finishing a distance second to the Argentine in Gameweek 6.

A strong home fixture against a Stoke City side that has conceded 15 times this term, coupled with impressive underlying statistics, offer the big Swede a strong case for selection.

No other player has had more goal attempts than the 55.8% owned striker but interest may be tempered by his failure to register returns from the impressive 4-1 victory over Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday.

His cut price team-mate Marcus Rashford (6.9) did manage to score against the Foxes, taking his taking to three goals in four Gameweeks. With more than 71,000 new FPL owners so far this week, he is also expected to garner captaincy interest.

Romeu Lukaku (9.3) will also be in the frame. Like Ibrahimovic, the 19.4% owned striker also blanked in Gameweek 6 as Everton slipped to a reverse at Bournemouth. But his Gameweek 7 opponents Crystal Palace have yet to chalk up a clean sheet ahead of Friday’s trip to Goodison Park.

Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez has three double-digit FPL scores already this season and he looks an potentially effective differential captaincy option. With three goals and two assists in his last two road trips, it is little wonder that the Chilean has attracted more than 76,000 new managers ahead of the Gunners’ visit to Burnley this weekend.

The midfielders minefield at Liverpool is set to split the vote among their key contenders. Sadio Mane (9.0), the 30.3% owned Philippe Coutinho (8.2) and Adam Lallana (11.3) all offer solid options for the armband when they visit a Swansea City outfit that has conceded seven times across their three home fixtures this season. All three of this midfield trio scored at home to Hull City at the weekend to further boost their case.

Although their team-mate Roberto Firmino (8.4) failed to register any attacking returns against the Tigers, the 9.9% owned Brazilian’s strong underlying numbers, including topping Liverpool’s chance creation table this season, should give those keeping faith a degree of confidence. .

We will be back to check in on progress in the poll later this week, as we deliver our “Captain Sensible” article offering our view of the results and the statistics behind the leading contenders.

I enjoyed watching how Ibra looked to exploit Rashford's pace. Encouraging sign for both of their FPL prospects.

I start to think I may have some problems with my defense:

    Heaton, Jaku
    Baines, Valencia, PVA, Evans, Amat

With Baines still injured, PVA dropped (there were some strong words from Moyes after the game), Valencia not a secured aI would hope I can face a potential crisis... Who would you replace first?

Not really... Just saw BBC match of the day where Moyes was quite clear he had some issues with his fullback not doing his job. And post match analysis also pointed out his mistakes that lead to 2 Palace goals...

since you mentioned nothing about money, i assumed it was not an issue.

the other 4 don't need to be messed with. you'd probably be wasting a transfer better saved.

the problem with having Amat is that it's almost like having no 5th defender, so when the other 4 become an issue, as you seem to think they are, you sense you are in a bind.

    great value for potential imo

    1. Pariße

I think Silva is the better choice, in that case. Or Sterling of course, Gundogan plays too far away from the goal.

At just 5.4 he's an option.

Sure Silva/Sterling are more offensive but he offers far more going forward than Fernandino

Could be a way out of Capoue /Snodgrass as 4th & 5th if needed.

Mostly care about my cash ML. First equal but Capoue and maybe Holebas left. 20pts ahead of 3rd. Most of rest of top 10 in disarray. 2-3 injured players

-4 Antonio>Lallana while can afford is really appealing. Could steal a march

if Lallana (36 points with -4) outscores Antonio (40 points), who buy the way, have played the same number of games

Antonio doesn't need West Ham to play well to score - he is excellent in the air and on the ground and they are also playing teams with terrible defences.

On Wildcard this week and i've started pretty well and on 347 points. However, i've made an error in terms of locking in some team value so struggling to get exactly who i want....this is my team so far...problem is i only have 10.1m left to fill the last two positions. Any suggestions or do i just need to cut one more big hitter out? Im trying to gain a couple of hundered thousand by playing the gainers this week.

    Forster, Pickford
    Stones, Holebas, Lovren, Coleman, Kosceilny
    Walcott, Sanchez, Sterling, Couthino, BLANK
    Deeney Aguero BLANK

It looks like you are planning to play out a 442. So Barry and Diomande and you are left with extra money. If you are planning to play 343(clean sheets are rare, would suggest this) then downgrade your defence. Choose 2 big hitters and 3 4.0-4.5 you rotate.

    1. Musicholic

I am thinking of the same. I can do it right now but would cost me a -4, waiting for another week might just increase lallana's price and hence I'll miss out on him. I think I'll do it by tomorrow. A -4 is worth it against a leaky defense like Swansea. I already have Mane.

Did Zlatan, Mane and Snoddy to Rashford, Lallana and Sanchez for a -8.

Crazy I know but was rushed into it by price changes, all 3 have already rose once and may rise again by the weekend. Also makes AOA a good option this week, with my defence looking weak.

    Foster
    Valencia Baines
    Sanchez Sterling Lallana Antonio Capoue
    Aguero Lukaku Rashford

    Thoughts on team?
Who to captain, on Aguero atm, Sanchez vice, but definately would have been Zlatan. I'm I only doubting Rashford as a (C) option due to price?

Indeed. Mustafi played brilliant too. I think we have a strong partnership here. But one of my favourite moments was Bellerin's tackle on Pedro. I just can't get enough...

"Simon is one of the best professionals we have. Like I said a few times, before the game there is only the decision. After the game if someone wants to talk about it we can talk about it, but before the game nothing else than the game. If he wants to talk we can talk, there's no problem, but it will not be a problem because I know him. We cannot promise line-up positions. We can only say we made decisions, use them."

What do you guys think about KDB? According to the news, he'll be out for 4 weeks. His buy price is 11.8 (sells for 11.6 at the moment).

Do you reckon if I sell it at 11.6 now, the buying price will be dropped at 11.6 after 4 weeks?

Hart to say. Wenger really likes him but there's a lot of 'big' players waiting on bench. Caz, Ozil, Sanches and one of Coq/Xhaka are pretty much nailed to start. I think there will be some tinkering in the wide positiona. Also, if Giroud is starting, then it's one spot less as Sanches moves to wide spot.

I would personally start Iwobi every week. The lad's got it all.

Happy Monday lads. Right, i've done Negredo > Austin, I'm thinking of using AOA this week. West Ham just HAVE to get a result soon me thinks.

    Whats thoughts on this AOA?

    Foster (Sun)
    Valencia (Stk) / Stones (Tot)
Sanchez (Bur) / Chadli (sun) / Sterling (Tot) / Antonio (Mid) Capoue (Bou)
Aguero (tot) / Ibra (Stk) (C) / Austin (Lei)

    Bench:Jaku / Friend / Collins / Amat

(0.5 itb currently 2nd in ML behind by 2 points but I have Capoue to play tonight and he doesnt. 28k overall. Next weeks FT will be Collins > 5m as long as he doesnt drop more than 0.1, he is 4.6 currently and I have 0.5 itb)

Based on what I've seen for the past three weeks there are fewer teams deserving of a result than West Ham.

      I wholeheartedly disagree. Sorry dude.

Antonio is in a bad team and position is again being questioned.

Can Lallana really keep it up? My guess would be no, but it could work out.

      Same for Capoue.

      Fletcher is obviously a 2pter.
