Clean sheets have been rare beasts this season, with half of all Premier League teams managing no more than one – and five none at all – in seven attempts so far.

Sides recording consecutive shut-outs are even thinner on the ground.

Manchester United managed two in a row in August, Southampton are currently on a three-match run of their own and Arsenal went into the international break with back-to-back clean sheets.

The Saints will face both Manchester City and Chelsea over the next three Gameweeks, however, leaving the Gunners looking the likeliest to continue their fine defensive form once their players’ latest national chores are done.

With that in mind, in this latest members article we assess their recent defensive performances, analysing Arsenal against other resilient rearguards before checking out the merits of Arsene Wenger’s preferred back-four.

    Valencia >> Mustafi -4

I know this would need Valencia score 2 points v Liverpool (likely) and Mustafi to keep a CS v Swans to break even but would be a transfer up next GW

    Thoughts?

Hmm yeah, but you never know if you will absolutely need to take a hit next week. Maybe you'll be satisfied with just this transfer. Besides, I have a feeling Swansea might score. Next week Boro though, I think has good chances of a clean sheet.

Doubt he'll be out at all.

Sat on the bench for Belgium tonight, sounds a minor / made-up injury to give Benteke some target practice against Gib after beating Bosnia easily.

Koeman will put him starting against City. IMO.

Sooooo much thinking about captancy. Every week. So, i decided to do some calculating. I had 90 points from my captains in first 7 GWs, pretty bad. And then, i see that Sanchez had 49 points, De Bruyne 49, Sterling 45 points, Costa 46, Capoue 48, Koscielny 43...

I saw so many theories how to choose captain, some guy even desribed some tactics with calculating points per minute, different columns... Maybe i just need to pick one big hitter, relax and wait for those 10+points GWs. If i had De Bruyne as my captain from GW1, including GW7 when he didn't play, i would have more then 90 points.

    What's yours score from captains?

      Firmino 4

111 with 2 blanks for me - the blank weeks I also had Sterling with 15 points when Aguero got 2, and Lukaku's 17pt hattrick when Sanchez got 1 - but i'm already doing so much better than last season - I had only 4 weeks in first 19 where my captain scored more than 3 pts (6 doubled)

122 poor moi. And sob/true story should be 156 as Lukaku was supposed to be my captain on WC but did not confirm and went on to Ozil who I would never ever captain, I can see this coming back to bit per me in MLs. Oh well onwards and upwards. Other than that mistake I've always captained a forward.

      Thinking....

      1. Jaku to Grant to nick 0.1 TV for a few weeks (short-term until Butland returns but possibly valid for a FT)

      Or

      2. Evans to Cameron to nick 0.1 TV for a FT and someone with better fixtures and possibly nailed & OOP for foreseeable.

      or

      3. Both. As I have 2 FTs. But that's probably mental, & I won't, given it's Stoke lads.

How is Negredo still owned by 19% of teams? Lots of dead teams out there already?

Might be due to more 3-5-2 action including the likes of Capoue. I still have Andre Gray!

Easy enough to bench if doing that I guess. Gray going this week or other pressing issues to deal with?!

I'm in the lucky enough position to have 2 free transfers and not many injuries.

    A) Williams and Sterling out for Mustafi and Walcott
    B) Same again but for Mustafi and son
    C) Antonio and Sterling to Walcott and Som
    D) Sterling to Coutinho or Wally/Son and rolll a transfer.

    Pick Jak
    Kos Walker Lovren* Smith Amat
    Sanchez Sterling* Firmino Antonio Capoue
    Kun* Lukaku* Diomande
    1,4 itb, 1ft.
First thought before weekend was: Capoue to Snodgrass (much more attacking and Capoue lucky strikes are over?)
Now Im not sure, probably Sterling, Kun and Lukaku will be fine? Lovren can wait on bench if injured...

Rooney was 5/1 on PP to score against Slovenia before he was dropped. Anticipating him getting a snakey one off the bench at tastier price. Still 5/1. Shirley Not ???

      Keep this week.

Swap for Lallana next week if Antonio blanks this week.

Not keen on Son with Spurs rotations options, Champs League fixtures, and Kane back sooner rather than later.

Can see Lamela, Alli and Erickson being the 3 preferred AMs behind Kane long term, although Son is in the form of his life to be fair.

Look at Liverpools fixtures for Lallana through to Xmas for cheaper price, than Son....he's also in great form.

      Bolasie. Consistently inconsistent.

Redmond's points not great lately but very involved in most goals. Hopefully close to getting on assists/goals trail.

On a WC atm, what would you do?

    A) Sterling (SWA) > Firmino (MNU) this week
    B) save for next week (SOT)/(WBA)
    C) Keep Sterling

I don't have LIV coverage otherwise and with low funds I can't afford to upgrade my 5th mid.

    Cheers

Downgrade Sanchez to Walcott and have both Sterling and Firmino and use the money to upgrade your defence.

I'm looking at Fuchs at 5.4 for Leicester's run from GW9 onwards. Can wait a week though, so I'd do Caz to Son with the FT.

Santi > Son is a good move.

If you can't squeeze a Spurs/Arsenal defender, wait for another week.

    Aguero Lukaku

Mane, Capoue, Lukaku -> KDB, Snodgrass, Benteke.

    Cheers
