Romelu Lukaku and Leighton Baines are back in the mix as Everton travel to Man City. Mauricio Pochettino and Claudio Ranieri hints at rotation as the schedule steps up pace, whilst Aaron Cresswell is passed fit for West Ham’s clash with Palace.

Romelu Lukaku has recovered from a minor thigh problem in time for Everton’s trip to the Etihad. Leighton Baines, Phil Jagielka and Darron Gibson are also available, though Aaron Lennon and James McCarthy are doubtful.

Mauricio Pochettino discussed the upcoming schedule and hinted at freshening up his squad. The Spurs boss – who confirmed Moussa Dembele is doubtful due to a foot injury – went on to say:

“We have seven games in 23 days and after the international duty the players that played a lot, or that have come back from injury like Danny Rose or Eric Dier, or [Erik] Lamela, who arrived yesterday, or [Heung-Min] Son from Asia, we need to be clever in how we prepare for the game and the decisions that we shall take to be ready to compete in Germany, Bournemouth, Liverpool”.

Francis Coquelin in back in contention for Arsenal’s clash with Swansea, though Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey will both remain on the sidelines. Arsene Wenger also confirmed that Mesut Ozil has assured him he is fully fit, allaying any fears of injury after the playmaker was withdrawn early for Germany in midweek.

Aaron Cresswell is in West Ham’s squad for the trip to Selhurst Park, Slaven Bilic has confirmed. The left-back has recovered from a knee injury and returned to full training along with Jonathan Calleri and Havard Nordtveit. Sam Byram has undergone surgery on his injured hamstring, whilst Gokhan Tore is out for four-to-six weeks with a thigh problem.

New Swansea boss Bob Bradley has confirmed that Fernando Llorente and Jefferson Montero are doubts for the trip to Arsenal. Nathan Dyer remains sidelined with an ankle problem.

Valon Behrami and Miguel Britos are expected to be available for Watford’s trip to Middlesbrough. Craig Cathcart is likely to miss out, though Isaac Success has recovered from a leg problem.

Mark Hughes remains hopeful that Joe Allen will recover from a hamstring problem in time for Stoke’s clash with Sunderland. Glen Johnson has been ruled out for three-to-four weeks with a thigh problem sustained in training.

Claudio Ranieri has given an early heads-up that he is likely to rotate his team over the next few days. Leicester head to Chelsea this weekend and also face a Champions League clash with FC Copenhagen in midweek.

Danny Drinkwater is available for the Foxes trio to Stamford Bridge after shrugging off a groin problem, though Nampalys Mendy misses out with an ankle complaint. When referring to those returning from internationals, Ranieri also went on to say “everybody is ok”, which means that Shinji Okazaki has recovered from an ankle knock sustained on duty for Japan.

Eddie Howe has conceded that “one or two” international players came back with knocks ahead of Bournemouth’s clash against Hull but refused to name names.

Scott Dann is still sidelined for Palace’s clash with West Ham due to a thigh problem. Alan Pardew expects him to be available for next week’s encounter with Leicester.

Salomon Rondon will be assessed after arriving back late from international duties with Venezuela ahead of West Brom’s match against Spurs.

Michael Dawson misses out for Hull tomorrow and will instead turn out for the reserves to improve his match fitness. Dieumerci Mbokani is sidelined after sustaining an injury whilst on international duty.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

I'm lookin at Toby over Bellerin. But yet to decide.

Benteke has good fixtures this GW, but there are other good alternatives of the 3rd striker spot.

Pull the trigger if you feel confident.

Being fairly new to reading this place, can I ask is there a reason that there is not a forum?

It's such a popular comments thread that's it's a real job to find the interesting, insightful stuff within the deluge of 'this midfield or that midfield' enquiries. I always just give up after a page or two because there's no order to anything

Unfortunately that'll never end. There's no order, so people wont waste time locating whether their question has been answered 25 times already

It just seems such an odd way to do things, and presumably there is good reason either to do it this way, or problems which prevent changing to a different way.

It's just so completely anti good-analysis. Unless your post happens to get picked up and backed by one of the big dogs it just disappears into ether

    Hall of Fame Latest

Huge apologies, The Professor has noticed a bug in the Hall of Fame which meant there was a slight error in some of the rankings. I've removed the hot topic on it and rest assured he will be working on that this weekend to hopefully sort that issue out.

Its taken us far longer than we thought to do the first update for the Hall of Fame this season for technical reasons.

Thanks in advance for your patience.

The good news is that once we've sorted this final issue out the upates will be far more regular throughout the season.

      Loads of reasons:

Sanchez is a 'big hitter' midfielder, playing for Arsenal, on form, up front - people tend to vote for the obvious.

Beneteke could be a brilliant captain pick though.

Is it total insanity to even consider dropping Sanchez to allow for moves like
    Collins > Bellarin
    Stuani > Deeney
(Sanchez to Son) - i have Walcott

Ok the rubber is about to hit the road with the infamous GW8 ready to start.

Who here actually believes lightening will strike a 3rd time in GW8? Will we see half of FFS breach the 100pt mark and steal a march on the competition yet again?

The opposite, Sanchez and Aguero rested for minimal points, canny captain pickers to make the real ground while everyone is chasing the gw8 dream.

        I reckon Arsenal are priority

Morning all, how does this look?

      Pickford (Foster)
Mustafi - Collins - Evans (Williams, Amat)
Sanchez - Mane - Sterling - Antonio (Capoue)
      Aguero - Lukaku - Austin

      0ft, 0itb

Cant decide whether to play AOA to get Capoue instead of Evans (TOT)?

If Son is really out then you could arguably even go with both Foster and Evans.

Janssen doesn't move like a striker at all so expect that midfield to shoot from outside the box if Son isn't playing.

        Very bold.

Who is Pope? Get Robinson or surely you can stretch to Pickford.

Midfield is a bit meh and riddled with bench issues.

        Up front is obviously brilliant.

6 out of 10 for me. Lacks a lot of balance.

Downgrade lamela to a bench rotter. Won't start this week. Rotation risk anyway. And upgrade say Milner to Firmino.

I like the Arnie punt. Great fixtures.

Not sure why you're wasting money on Ibra. He will steadily and reliably get A goal but I doubt he'll ever explode. Costa will at least match him over the course of the season IMO.

        Who is Pope?

        Lamela? Get rid.

No Spurs defenders? Stones has been pretty useless so far.

Downgrade Snodgrass to a 4.5 and use funds elsewhere.

        Overall a 6/10.

This GW8 lark has got me flummoxed, and i have several options to pick from, mostly depending upon the fitness of one, Raheem Sterling.

      My team as it stands;

Adrian; McAuley, Daniels, Mee, (Williams, Kingsley); Sanchez, Antonio, Barkley, Mane, Sterling; Aguero, Rashford, (Dio)

      1FT, 1.0M itb

      What is the best option???

      A) No transfers. Give the entire team a chance to rebound and use the 2 transfers wisely next week (I scored a mindbogglingly bad 23 pts in GW7)

      B) Monreal or Mustafi in for Williams * give Barkley another last chance, and no Spurs attacking coverage.

      C) Kyle Walker in for Williams * give Barkley another last chance, and no Spurs attacking coverage.

      D) Dele Alli in for Barkley * will have to play Williams against Aguero/Sterling or McAuley against Alli

      E) Son in for Barkley * will have to play Williams against Aguero/Sterling or McCauley against Son

      F) Son and Vertonghen in for Barkley and Williams (- 4)

      G) Son and Bellerin in for Sterling and Williams (- 4)

      H) Son, Walcott and Koscielny in for Barkley, Sterling and Williams (- 8)

      ...thoughts?

      Long term investment:

      A) Valencia - sterling - diomande (bench fodder) (0,7 itb)
      B) lovren - amartey (bench)- lukaku (0,3 itb)
