We can’t quite call it a comeback but it’s progress.

Jonty’s radical solution to help solve his nosediving season was to throw off the shackles of his traditional dullard ways and start taking transfer hits.

It’s working, a 74-point Gameweek is enough to get him back and track and edging towards unlikely respectability. Like a Phoenix, dusting himself down and now pondering a rise from the ashes.

Personally, I’m not sure what’s more puzzling, Jonty’s struggles this season or Andy’s determination to cling to Zlatan Ibrahimovic like some muscular, ponytailed comfort blanket. At least Granville was wise enough to get rid after the Swede failed him yet again.

In this latest ScoutCast, we tackle Jonty’s reversal of fortune and Andy and Granville’s Zlatan woes, before embarking on another round of questions from you, the community.

The Gundoganwagon, Valencia replacements and looming doubts over the Arsenal teamsheet dominate the chatter.

    A) Kos, Antonio -> Pieters, Hazard for -4
    B) Antonio, Sterling -> Gundogan, Hazard for -4
    C) Antonio -> Walcott (he passed fit right)

      Tough ones. Probably in order:

      B (I'd still do Allen instead of Gun, but I'm less punty than others)

          They should've never hired de Boer, whatever you think about him as a coach (i don't rate him), he needs time, and he was never going to get it there, or anywhere else in Italy.

    Already playing McAuley, which GK should I start:
    A) Pickford (bou)
    B) Foster (lei)

    With Mannone approaching fitness again, maybe Pickford will have a worldie to try and keep his place? 😀

      When he came on the score was 0-1.

    But every week he seems to have an "easy" fixture.
    And every week he trolls me.

    So Ibra + Son -> Austin + Hazard for a -4?

    Maybe throw in a Fletch -> Gündogan for an extra hit because that's how I roll?

            This sound advice. I have Lallana too and I am a bit concerned by his output. But his pre-injury form was great and their fixtures are too. I'm going to let him sit in my team for a while and use transfers elsewhere. Hopefully he'll pick up.

    All my defenders have dodgy fixtures this week.

    Bench two of these babies:

    Amat (MUN)
    Williams (che)

    Gooooooooooooooooooooooood morning one and all! How are we on this fine Friday morning?

    I'm after a bit of advice from you knowledgeable lot. This is how I'm lining up with 0.1m itb and 1 FT:

    Heaton
    Mustafi - Lovren - Holebas
    Firmino - Coutinho - Sterling - Chadli*
    Aguero - Ibra - Austin

    Pickford* - Capoue* - Baines* - Amat*

    * = Not players I'd like off the bench, dropped or injured

    Originally I was going to save the transfer but I don't think I can now. What are the best options?

    Here's 2 obvious ones I can see:

    Chadli to Gundogan / Allen
    Baines to Fuchs and play 4-3-3 (Chadli has really nice fixtures after the break if he's back for Burnley)

    Any thoughts welcome - injuries are annoying!

    1. Rhinos

          True, you'd be counting on defensive returns only, but it's what you can do with the extra 0.5 if you need to to Fuchs. It would either be Fuchs or Simpson for me out of those two, and if you don't need the money the Fuchs

    9. Jafalad

      Pity you can't do Capooee->Allen but you may be short of cash.

      However, Ibra is the more obvious one and he should have been booted weeks ago. Ibra->Kaku.

        Yeah, 0.2 or 0.3 off that unfortunately.

        Ibra to Lukaku is really not the move this week. Yes he should have gone weeks ago but take this week into isolation, he has Chelsea away and I'd then be playing Capoue

      I thought you were too stubborn to bring in Allen? 😉

      Ibra has to go. That's too much money being wasted on someone who isn't doing the business.

      Either downgrade to Costa or Lukaku and see if you can splash the cash elsewhere next week.

      I myself brought in Fuchs (bit worried after Schmeichel injury) and Allen (think Gundo bangwagon will be shorter lived) for a -4 (Valencia and Snodgrass injuries forced my hand).

        Problem is that Ibra to Lukaku or Costa doesn't give me enough money to spend on upgrading Chadli to someone I'd like.

        If Walcott was guaranteed fit that might be an option but otherwise Hazard is still far out of reach

          Honestly really tempted by Gundo though. Feel he will do damage over these fixtures and City look likely to score goals in decent form. Allen also very tempting.

    Foster / Jaku
    Bellerin / Holebas / Amat / Friend / Stones
    Sanchez / Walcott / Firmino / Capoue / De Roon
    Aguero / Lukaku / Deeney
    1 FT & 1.1 ITB

    a) Capoue -> Allen
    b) Deeney -> Austin
    c) Walcott -> Coutinho
    d) Any 2 combinations from them

    I'm leaning towards A personally ..

    Pedro or Moses worth a punt as a Wally replacement? Both getting game time recently.

      Fair point
      Both with low chances of clean sheet. Holebas more attacking

      Williams has been a crappy pick this season. Holebas has a lot more to offer.

      Think a Liverpool thrashing is on the cards and if Holebas has a lot of defensive work he'll pick up his fifth yellow.

    Who’d you play out of:

    A. Holebas (liv)
    or
    B. Pieters (whu)
    ??

    Would you do this for GW12 with 2 FT's:

    Mane and Redmond -> Hazard and Allen

      No way Mane & Redmond can easily outscore Hazard & Allen this week.

        Yes, the question was about the gw after international break. I'm banking free transfer now.

    Planned a few transfers for next 5 weeks... debut season on FPL am I doing the wrong thing? 524 points so far so need to make some ground up

    GW12 - Save
    GW13 - Austin/Capoue --> Fodder/Chadli
    GW14 - Save
    GW15 - Chadli/Fodder --> Fodder/Tekkers
    GW16 - Sanchez --> Chelsea M

      • 11 Years

      That looks a terrible plan. Why lose Austin?

      One injury and your plans will go down the drain. No point planning take one gameweek as it comes. Looks good on paper but rarely it goes the way you want it to.

      It's cute that you think it will actually play out like this. In reality you'll end up taking a -8 in GW12 due to international injuries, followed by an Aguero to Rondon move in GW13 or something ridiculous because Aguero has been suspended for punching Pep and Rondon scored a hat trick the week before.

    Gtg? Struggling with bench option

    Pick
    Kosc, pieters, mee
    Sanchez, firmino, sterling, redmond, gundogan
    Aguero, benteke

    Foster, Lukaku, friend, mee

    Will be ditching tekkers next week so fancy giving him a run out

    Captain Mané against Watford. It's a home game, Holobas will provide ample space for Mané to score, Mané is due!

    Or shall I go with Kun only?

      In theory Mane could do well
      But cant ignore Kun at home to Middlesborough. too good to ignore

          Its City, at home. Even if Arsenal/Spurs/Chelsea were coming to city I'd captain Kun at home

      Wonder if Mannone will get his place back, Pickford has been decent.

    Foster - Pickford
    Valencia(!) - Smith - Pieters - Holebas - Amat(!)
    Sanchez - Mane - Walcott(!) - Capoue - Snodgrass(!)
    Aguero - Costa - Benteke

    So obviously my team is in a bit of trouble. Only one free transfer.

    But first things first should be Valencia out, yes? Have 5.5m to spend on any defender. Thoughts?

      Wow, almost identical to mine
      I got rid of Valencia and Walcott for Fuchs and Gundogan

    Brought in Chadli this week to afford Coutinho….

    The very next day he goes and has a operation and is ruled out for weeks.

    What a waste of a FT!
